Help a poor anon make a decision:
I have enough money to spend on either figma Yoshihiko ($52), SHF Ultraman ($37) or... spend half the amount on a HG Graze + accessory jetpack extra + HG Gusion (totaling up to about $22)
So one of those options or... Skip out on figma Yoshihiko and grab the SHF Ultraman with the HG kits.
I love Ultraman, I really like Yoshihiko but I also really enjoy the designs of those 2 IBO kits...
Why not all? Because I have to set aside money to buy my family and gf gifts (not obligation, would like to because they're nice to me but no one else in my family buy toys or know these stuff so I can't expect them to know which exact toys I want, so am not counting on them to grab these for me).
1 vote for SHF Ultraman. Mine still makes me smile every time I look at it or pick it up.
>>6028442
Alright anon, thanks... Any pics of yours? I'm real tempted too, plus I have the advantage of being able to pick since it's stocked in person at the stores in my city...
I'm a Kamen Rider kind of guy, but I still like Ultraman so I'd say that any day.
>>6028386
Ultraman. Yoshihiko is a meme character and there's a good chance you'll be able to get those kits cheaper. Ultraman is classic, has that SHF quality, and it's the only one you used 'love' for.
>>6028468
Here are some quick pics. I might try to take better ones if you have any specific requests.

I do really like the show for Yoshihiko and for how Stephen Chow the whole sense of humor is but yeah, for character attachment + design, I do love Ultraman. He was the other character other than Black Condor and KR Black that I grew up really loving and watching every ep for...
I think I'm leaning towards getting Ultraman + those HG kits for myself now. Thanks anons.

thanks anon, I'm in. Ultraman it is. I also thought about it, figma Yoshihiko is basically the same price as a SIC... and I still have some older SIC setss to cross off my list. I have a hard time justifying a figma that costs as much as a SIC, other than Berserker Armor Guts.
>>6028489
if you've got pics of him compared to the Ultra-Act, I'm curious too. I have the Ultra-Act but definitely am tempted to get the shf still.
>>6028503
Sorry. Never liked the look of the ultra-acts enough to get one.
>>6028508
>>6028519
Thanks!
>>6028386
You should probably know that the jetpack won't fit the Graze without being fairly significantly modified.
Pic of SHF standing next to just-released Zoffy.
Form 2chan.
>>6028503
I have the Ultra-Act and I planned to replace it with the SHF but once I got it, I changed my mind and sold the SHF after two days. IMO the Ultra Act is way better in every aspect except the accessories (I got the Deluxe SHF) and the scale.
>>6028386
Just wait until Yoshihiko comes out. I'd say he's pretty unlikely to sell out, and there's always a chance he'll be shitty. I'd you really love Ultraman then go with him.
>>6028489
whos the gold robot?
>>6028704
King Joe. He's an awesome alien invader robot with metal pants.

The SHF Ultraman line is just too good. The way they went for suit accuracy over the weird ultraact proportions makes the figures crazy charming.
>>6028770
I like the beefed proportions of the Ultra-act more personally. Makes him look more natural and an actual alien opposed to guy in suit.
>>6028807
> an actual alien opposed to guy in suit.
You filthy heretic. You have no soul.
>>6028823
Wow Anon, way to be xenophobic. Ultraman should be loved for who he is, not for who he is on the inside.
That came out kinda wrong.
>>6028849
>Wow Anon, way to be xenophobic
Whoa. Don't you dare even go there. Xenon happens to be my favorite noble gas. Well, one of my favorite noble gasses. I have plenty of friends who are noble gasses, is what I'm saying.
>>6028849
>Ultraman should be loved for who he is, not for who he is on the inside.
Ultraman because he's relatively cheap. Probably because Ultra-Act collectors can't quite accept how short he is in comparison to the Ultra-Act line.
Yoshihiko will likely go down in price, much like other niche characters such as Freddie Mercury and so forth. I heard a third season will be coming out soon but I'd still bank on his price dropping before getting him.
No idea on the kits.
Personally, I'd get Yoshihiko first but the prudent choice for yourself, at this time, is probably Ultraman.
>>6028532
oh, wait, that's interesting. The accessory pack won't fit the Graze without significant mods? So I guess it really is just for the Graze Kai? Would you be able to tell me more about the mods?
Thanks so much for the info, anon!
>>6028635
the problem with me is that my Ultra-Act is defective... and someone at my office dropped him then lost the top removable part on his back. It'd cost me a fortune to replace him with another Ultra-Act right?
>>6028924
I'd like to have Yoshihiko, it is my fav current TV show but I've been burnt before on more realistic style figmas... so I guess I'll take the gamble and wait on Yoshihiko.
Wow anons, thanks so much for all the tips, I'm slightly more undecided now... but increasingly it seems like I'll be going for the SHF Ultraman. Now all I need to confirm is if the HG Graze + HG IBO accessory kit is compatible or not.
>>6029128
>>6028532
This one won't fit with the Graze HG, without significant mods, anon? What would the mods be?
>>6029135
You'll need to cut up the top of the backpack at least, maybe add a deep cut between the two pegs that go into the back. You know how the Graze has that sort of circular protrusion running down along its spine? That's the problem. Most of the Gundam backpacks won't fit the Graze without mods.
>>6029147
fuck me, why did they even advertise it like it's an easy fit right out of the box then... Damn you Bandai, almost fell for it.
Some pics of the Ultra-act over at Toysdaily:

I think it looks like shite compared to the SHF, but your mileage may vary.
>>6029123
Not really. Some anon was selling a UA lot of 6 or 7 figures including a complete Renewal UM for like $60 or something a few BST ago.
can the shf Ultraman's neck joint look up high enough that it can hunch over for a wrestling pose but still look straight in front of him?
>>6029655
Yup. Kinda it's specialty. Really nice neck joint.

>>6029666
ok I'm in. Thanks to all anons who had patiently answered all of my questions, I'm definitely grabbing the SHF Ultraman on my next paycheck excess.
>>6028714
Good luck buying the Baltan ship.
>>6029601
Those figures had defects and missing parts though, no?
Renewal Ultraman goes for like $45-50 nowadays
Did you guys grab the limited ed with the building set or the figure only shf?
Some reviewer on youtube is saying the QC on the fig-only SHF release is actually pretty random, with bad chipping on his neck and loose hip join (which was a problem with my ultra-act, that i just never even considered buying another ultra-act)... and that the 50th anni set has superior QC.
>>6029736
Some did. It still means Renewal UM can be found for cheap.
>>6028704
King Joe. They's gonna release a man-in-suit figuarts of him to play with Ultra Seven.
>>6029797
I call bullshit. Neither release has any more QC problems than the other.
I got the fig-only release and mine is bloody perfect. And I'm the sort who will trim parts and mix colors and correct the paint if needed. My SHF Ultraman didn't need any of it.
>>6029797
I just got the no frills just-the-figure version. No problems with mine.
Zoffy comparison stolen from 2chan.
>>6030399
sometimes I think Bandai does this on purpose to troll us. Great decisions elsewhere on the SHF for people who'd want a suit-accurate, poseable figure on this scale... but OH HEY, LET'S ADD THESE SUPER OBVIOUS CUTS FOR A JOINT WE'VE BEEN HIDING FAIRLY WELL WITH THE KAMEN RIDERS, COME ON IT'LL BE FUN
>>6030421
I honestly think they are just trying to save money by using this new joint tech on everything whether it fits the design or not. When they really should be using both types of joints depending on the design and aesthetics needed.
It's also worth noting these "new joints" they are using on so many things don't even have superior range either. So you are losing on looks AND range in many cases. The range is by no means bad but yeah, it's not outstanding like the pull downs either.
>>6028770
Agreed. I feel sorta like a director with my own little suit actor running around and completing scenes for me.
alright while this thread is still up, anyone with the HG Graze or Gusion would like to chime in how it is? I'm definitely grabbing the SHF Ultraman, just am undecided now if I should just save the money and then start saving up for the incoming potentially ridiculous pricing of the SHF Shin Godzilla.
>>6029135
I wasn't paying attention in >>6029147 and stupidly thought you were asking about the Kimaris backpack. The one in that pic should work fine with the Graze as far as I know.
As for >>6031348 Graze is a good kit while Gusion is fairly mediocre on account of its odd proportions. I'd recommend the Graze and Gusion would be fine if you really like the design and don't care much about articulation.
>>6031492
ohhh okay... ok thanks for coming back and clarifying. Shoot, now the Graze just got tempting again.
As for the Gusion, I do like the design but I'm questioning myself just how much more gunpla I'd want to make. I really only got into it to build the RG Zaku II some HGs but kind of got hooked on it. I would say I like how the Graze and Gusion looks but don't feel like I absolutely need to have it like the Kimaris Trooper, Space Jahannam, Gastima and Zaku II.
