*crooked printing

But after closer examination, they all have at least minor inconcistencies in prints both on the circular things on the sphere as on their heads. But the one on the left definately has the worst placement of prints.
Not sure if it is just the lighting, but the one on the right looks the most white. But then again it does look like it has the second most imprecise printing of the circles on the spherical body.

I'd support this if it weren't for the fact that the cockpits/escape pods MS tend to have from Zeta onwards are usually all red on the outside. A transparent ball could give a good impression of a MS cockpit, but only in the sense that the chair is sitting there in the center of a sphere.

I'd advocate for a Walker Machine, even, but none of them really have bubble cockpits.

Lego is a toy for children; unless you only have modulars or architecture sets on display, it'll make you look like a manchild.
Also, i'd argue it depends on how many sets you're displaying at once, and what kind: one or two vintage sets will look neat, but normies don't have shelves full of star wars and nexo knights

Its like ive always said, when you stop giving a fuck, you truly start to live.

People twice as old as me have seen our lego shhit we have dispplayed, and not one of them has ever made any weird looks or critisized us or even questioned it, in fact, its always the opposite.

Too many people are scared of their hobbies or little idiosyncrasies and never stop to realize that everyone else has their own little things that they are just as scared of people finding out about.

>>6017691

so are dolls and trading cards, but yet those are looked at as something to show reverence towards. Even comic books are looked at as a legitimate collectors medium now.

kinda proving my point there, try picturing a room full of billy bookcases and detolfs filled to the brim with dolls or yugioh cards

Ive seen that plenty of times. Ive seen women in their 70s with doll collections worth millions with them fully on display. And when I said "trading cards", I meant like sports cards, but yeah, yugioh just the same, who gives a shit.

Who fucking cares. If you enjoy it, enjoy it and stop giving a fuck what others think about it. Youll live longer and enjoy life more when you stop giving a fuck.

>>
>>6017727
Yes, they do, and thats what so ridiculous about the side of 4chan culture that actively ridicules people for collecting things. Back in the days it was stamps, match books, little toy cars. today is CCG cards, lego or warhammer shit. Next generation itll be VR recordings and holocards.

People collect things, and really only people with little to no imagination are the ones who mess with people for it.

They open and close situationally. On the ground the L-Gaim uses them to jump, and in space they allow its thrusters to work.

There's actually a scene in some of the initial episodes where the MC, Daba, is fighting a gang of banditss with the L-Gaim, where they target and damage its opening leg binders to try and disable it.

If you ever give L-Gaim a try, it's nice show, but it suffers from mediocre subtitling. It's also a Tomino anime, IIRC his last work before Zeta and ZZ, and it shows. If you're a Nagano fan, you may recognize some designs that would change to become Mortar Headds.

Probably. But it's even more impressive this way, I'd just pile a bunch of mixel and ball joints together with some plates to hide them and call it a day. And that show intro was so 80s it hurts.

If you visit the galleries for the two L-Gaim builds you can see many of the connections are the two common snap connections- the Knight's Kingdom hinges and the normal System snap hinges. I don't think a modern rebuild of the two Heavy Metals would actually need too many towball joints- just some newer joints or different build techniques in key zones such as the hips, knees, and elbows.

The second intro is eighties enough to kill, but some like it less than the first intro.

>>
>>6017693
Fuck you, Nexo Knights is the Lego line I've been waiting for since Exo Force. Hero Factory's IFB wave did it for me a little, but I prefer brick built mechs over ccbs ones.

King's Mech is nearly perfect, I fixed it by building a new left arm out of the Infernox set, as well as reshelling the left leg, ribs, and shoulder, and now he's god tier. My current project is to get each of the knights' signature vehicles and turn them into a weapon/armor loadout for King's Mech, including a custom cockpit insert for each knight. So far I got Aaron's jet turned into an underslung speargun, a big fucking shuriken, and jetpack. The cockpit is made out of the horse from the Infernox set. You can even take the armor off and reattach it together to make the original, if slightly modded, vehicle.

Seriously dude, it's like nothing. It's "magitek" if you use your imagination- but at a glance there's nothing interesting about the thing. There's nothing to sell "this is an ayylmao robot". The robot could be human-built, autonomous, and using him for decoration for all I'd know just by looking at it.

>>6017954
Nice. You could probably replace the hinge bricks in the lower legs with plates and get good results, or replace the 2x3 bricks with side-stud bricks so you could add slopes.

Damn, now I wanna build a Geze.

The mech itself looks okay, but the partsforming garbage for the "vehicle mode" you strapped to his arms are pretty retarded looking. I'm assuming the thing on his right arm is supposed to be some sort of big gun, but literally 3/4 of it is sticking out behind the mech. It just looks bad. Find some way to flip that fucker around and put some barrels on there.

I honestly don't have any idea what the thing on his left arm is supposed to be. It's got... fuck, like a huge mace ball in the back, and that floppy plate sticking out the front? Is it supposed to be acting as a shield? A weapon of some kind? What's goin' on there, man?

people will find anything in large amounts weird, anything! you name it, pets, videogames, porn, toys, pillows, books, whatever hobby you can think of
the problem is that we tend to care too much, we are our own worst critic and we believe that if we think it sucks, what others may think is even worse, which in most cases is not true because we are all so self absorbed that we don't care much about others stuff, but rhater our own, and it's a cycle.
everyone is weird in their own unique way, if your "flaw" is that you like lego, you're above lots of other people
if you're embarrassed of your hobby, you should either get new friends or get a new hobby, because it's supposed to make you feel comfortable, not make you want to hide it, so it's your call.
I say if you care so much about what others think, make a living out of your hobby instead, nobody will think your hobby is lame if you make money out of it

The King's loadout. To mount the shield, you remove the spikes, which are just on by a 3 length bar being held in by the bar hole in the ball socket piece, 180 the lower arm, and attach the shield to the palm. You can also mount the shield on the back via one of those 4x4 pieces that have the two technic ends attached to the spine of the mech. With that I conclude my dump. Tho I'll tell you guys my plans for the next loadouts. For Macy's trike thing, I'm gonna turn it into a big hammer and maybe figure out how to make the flip up cannons detachable from the vehicle and shoulder mountable for the mech. For Clay's combiner vehicle: skates, a backpack/shield, and obviously a BFS. I'm still figuring out plans for Lance's horse mech and I hope Axel gets a personal vehicle, too. I really don't want to get one of the big sets for a non-ultimate version of him.

A breakdown of the loadout:

The right arm has an underslung spear gun, the large part hanging out of the back is so the mech isn't swinging around a huge barrel. Think how some modern military rifles have moved the receiver and firing mechanism to the rear of the stock so that whole length of the gun is the barrel.

The left arm is holding a giant shuriken (I was going really super robot with that weapon), the arm is craned around it like someone who's carrying something heavy underarm.

The "cape" pieces are retrofitted to mount the engines of Aaron's ship.

You saw the horse cockpit, so you know what's going on there.

Slowly bringing in a star wars haul from BL (few sets in the mail, on the fence about getting others). What's the deal with half the sellers selling without minifigs or instructions?
>>

Its whats known as "parting out". Probably selling the figs for a big mark up and dumping the sets for a little over/under retail. If done right, and the demand is there, you can make some good cash doing that shit, I used to do it with warhammer bits back in the day.

As you can see if you look, the prices have gotten WORSE since then. Its really the main reason I got out of warhammer and back into lego last year. Warhammer is still my first love, but the cost is too damned high.

You fool! You've broken a cardinal giant robot rule- questioning it when it's meant to look cool.

When my mom threw out everything I had put in a container in the attic because "water got in and there was mold". I never saw it to confirm it, but she hated Lego after a while and would discourage me from getting it in middle school, so I'm pretty sure she just trashed it on purpose. I should've kept the container down in my room.

The good thing is that getting back into it now, there are so many cool pieces and sets that it feels fresh. I'd have never dreamed of something like Nexo Knights happening for example. The builds are more engaging now too.

Always love to see more of your stuff man. Not necessarily always game for some human drama, but the divorced imperial/m-tron thing and SPAAAACEE ALCOHOLISM made me laugh. I'm also interested in the tsundere robot hitting on the undercover officer. My little space town has some grittier delapidated cyberpunk undertones but is actually a very friendly happy go lucky type of deal, so my policeforce isn't really all that necessary (except for the occassional EVIL SPAAACEE VILLAINS)

I have such trouble making pictures with my phone. Once i see them on my desktop screen they look like shit. But my phone is the only thing that can take focus on things up very close and is small enough to squeeze into a scene up to eyelevel or even lower. Especially darker areas and black bricks are impossible to capture without whites becoming nuclear.

If you want to get into taking pictures, a camera like this can be found used for forty bucks and offers a lot of customizability for different lighting conditions (it's what I use). Have you seen the pictures I made about how to shoot minifigs?

On one hand I like how Lego Dimensions has allowed Lego to grab a lot of licenses they may have otherwise ignored.

On the other hand, since I don't play the game, the sets are all hideously overpriced for what little they include. $30 for level packs? For 1 figure, 2 tiny builds and 3 discs that contain 2 cents of electronic components.

It's the nature of any TTL brand for those who don't play the game, I guess. I don't even touch Amiibos simply because I can't drop $13 apiece on 3" desk figurines.

And fuck me for wanting the other Doctors, which Lego will probably never make as toys. Oh I know there are unofficial version on eBay but not at $25 apiece, forget it. I could get proper DW action figures for less.

Yeah I saved those the first time you posted them.
I could borrow my mothers small digital camera from time to time when she doesn't need it, but i'll have to spend some time figuring out how to operate it.

Strangely enough older pictures i made sometimes look a lot better than the ones i do now, but it might just be that i took those during daytime. Maybe i should just fix up my wake/sleep rythm, but somehow i'm always most creative past midnight.

Fuck year, gotta chop em all.
Holy shit i love cars. But like on a completely irrational juvenile level. I don't even know how they work. But as long as they have sick nasty hoodscoops and a bunch of chrome vertically aligned exhausts they must be really fast. Stripes make care more aerodynamic efficient, sick flamedecals add that raw power.

Taking pictures can also be fun. Not only do they look neat, but you can make small comics and things with them or even stopmotion if you step up your game. You'll also be more inclined to change things up and maybe even use parts to build something else because you can always look at the picture you took to see how you built it before when you want it back.

Because of my lighting setup, pictures look better after the sun goes down. Otherwise my lights are competing with the small amount of natural light that can still get into the room.

I just use two of these with some homemade baffles that I cut to fit the bases of the lamp shades. The windows in the room I shoot in are blacked out with black posterboard so all the lighting is bounce lighting.

Like the lego thing might not even be the most important part, or atleast not the fact that you can build anything with it. It almost looks like the creator was more concerned with photographing something that is considered cute and nerdy that appeals to the largest demographic possible. So some people project a cynical thoughtprocess on it that goes a little like:
>Look! Remember legos? (just the minifigures though, i don't actually build stuff) Now they're combined with some of the most popular established popculture franchises! Oh and i added an artistic Instagram filter to look artisticand adult while doing it. Now gimme those (you)s bitches and don't forget to subscribe to my blog.

For most things, I would recommend tapping the tip of the pen against the piece, rather than maintaining contact and dragging the tip of the pen along the surface of the piece. At the fine scale that you're working at, even a little bleed will be noticeable, so it's best to go very slowly and pay attention to how much bleed you're getting.

yeah, probably for the best. I also noticed that the UV reactive plastic they use for their glow in the dark parts is no where near as powerful as the stuff lego uses. I have a blacklight flashlight, and when I shine it on an official TLG glowy piece, it charges it and it glows nice and bright immediately, even in daylight. When I shine it on any of the glowy pieces from the chinese fun house, they barely have a glow to them and it doesnt last long at all.

Dont know, but I do seem to remember my old OG lego ghosts feeling a lot tougher than current ones do, like the plastic had more mass to it.
>>
>>6019774
I like that design. Is it made up of pieces that exist in official LEGO form?
>>
>>6019774
>>6019975
Yeah I really like this, would you be willing to post a pic showing what's behind those big panels on the sides?

Where there ever any classic space minifigs in light grey? I'm trying to buy one of every faction and I saw a few images of what looked like grey suited ones.

By "classic space" do you mean pic related? There were only five types of Classic Space minifig, with the green variety only introduced in 2013 (with the modern motorcycle helmet instead of the classic one).

Yeah, the image was actually just a lego ideas set. I'm trying to fill a 7 wide row in a display case and I opted for classic space. Benny excluded because he's with the movie guys. I think I'll just put pick related center stage until we get a new faction color.

They made old-style helmets and air tanks in gray, but they never made a gray torso with the Classic Space logo.

Dang, it would have been cool if the homage statue fig was in gray, so it can sit in between White and Black classic spacers.

It would have also been cool if the City Square set came with a properly printed green Futuron.
>>
>>6020000
Those were for knights and firefighters respectively, right?
>>
>>6020000
Yeah, but I'm probably going for the modern helmets anyways so the statue and green don't look out of place. The torso is what I'm concerned about the most.

>>6020002
And I know, man. I'll probably plop the white and black on the far ends, then blue and yellow, then green and red with the statue central.

Also, dark blue visors or trans yellow for all of em?
>>
>>6020012
Trans-yellow or visorless. Blue is more of a Futuron thing.

I'm all for more designs and builds, but hulkbusting ultimately leads to more knockoff posting. It probably isn't your fault, but I have noticed the trend, and thats what makes it worse. For me at least.

Happy building.

>>6020007
Helmets were for knights, but a few space sets came with "spare" gray airtanks.

Quite a few people had custom torsos printed, you might've seen photos of those.

Knockoffs and purity can live in peace. Quite many late night dead threads have proven it, those times when it would be one post every few hours. I have had great conversation with people with knockoffs, MOCs and regular instruction fodder being posted all just fine.

The only time knock offs become a problem is when autists start bitching about them, which make people post even more of them to get a rise out of the turbo spergs.

Its like ive said a bunch of times, if a mod or janitor comes in and says for sure we cant post them, fine, I wont ever bring them up again (cant speak for anyone else though, and id love for people to keep posting them anyways. Blocks are blocks.), but until then, I will post whatever I want to related to lego or lego likes in general, within the global rules of the site, of course.

The more some of you guys bitch about it, the more itll get posted. This is 4chan, you all should know this by now.

And besides, it would be pretty hard to enforce pictures, as unless you can see the studs, how do you know for sure its a knock off? Does custom printings on lego pieces count as a knockoff?

Too much BS instead of just ignoring or hiding the posts and going on with it.
>>
>>6020091
Nobody is talking about MOC's.
However posting 20 pictures of new Enlighten series will always induce shitposting.
>>
>>6020091
You raise plenty of valid points. Personally, I'd like if everyone was at least pretending they were posting lego builds. Stud inspection would be hard, so thats not going to work. When someone posts a box with kektopia brand building cubes and then several more pictures of the set built, that's the issue. I'm not a mod or janitor, so I can't really stop it.

As for custom printing or even discussion of other brands' parts that Lego hasn't made, sure. Just not every thread.

And as a final thought, plenty of actual lego memes are just as bad if not worse. I know that this post will come off as angry. I'd just like to see more quality Lego posts.
