I love this new megatron so much man seriously, its back is ugly, but from my main points of display (front on and side on) the horrible back doesn't show.

Granted, each of the 3p's have something special to them, but none can replicate a proper walther p38, and each have their flaws, some are subjective (like despotron's stylized look), but now there truly is an option for everyone.

I would be pleased if he's painted but I'll await official product images before I accept plastic grey, that said he'll be easier to handle, yes I own mp05 and he's suffered alot trying to man handle that massive thing.

I always wanted a Firefly one because the plane mode looked better and had a landing gear, but once I got it in hand, it was disappointing. I suspect that, if they want REAL cartoon accuracy it might be a grey, but this could lead into redeco potential.

I liked it too, problem was in the right light it was fine, most other times it popped out too much, I noticed the diecast sections were painted and were a darker tone and weren't so affected by the light, if he were painted all around no one would of complained save paint rub.

So, take a risk, lose a figure, get it cleared, keep it forever, regardless though 2 words of warning

Its just, when I think G1 Megatron, I think of his toy first and his animation model second, so I like that Apollyon's whole aesthetics seem to draw equally from both. So now that the initial reveal hype wore off, I'm really concerned that MP Autismo is going to wind up being Rodimus Prime-tier.

Just looking at his chest, hips and gun mode (from what I can tell from the images), he looks like a mess of joints and levers under all the solid panels. I'm worried that he's going to be a total balljoint former and that getting everything just right on him is going to be a fucking nightmare. I mean for fuck sake, in his gun mode reveal shots almost every single panel on him looks crooked or off slightly. And on top of that I'm worried about how well he stays together. Like if you poke the gun is everything going to untab? if you grab him by the shoulders and turn his waist is his chest just going to explode?

Considering that he's very large though, I hope that means everything on him is going to be extremely stable, which no flimsy levers or tabs on him and such. I'm just skeptical about how well he'll stay together under play.

I'm also really not a fan of the cartoon decepticon logo. How did we go from "good faction logos stamped on, with cartoon stickers as an option" straight to "cartoon logos only, fuck you muh geewun". This is something I genuinely want to write in to Takara to let them know how much I don't like this shit. They could at least do like MP Inferno and have two separate chest plates: one with cartoon and one with clean logos, given that Megs' chest panel is clearly removable. Maybe they could do it as an limited accessory or something but fuck, this is stupid.

Stickers would be nice I guess, but it's not like Takara has had a good track record of giving us actually decent decals. Clearly, they've been putting a lot of work into loading him up with accessories, a no tampo panel or a clean logo panel wouldn't be that much more to ask for.

3P toys are largely designed via CAD (Computer Aided Design) As a result, you can just about create a viable transforming toy without needing to draw anything yourself.

If you look at the Has/Tak side of things, especially Hasbro, a lot of people are hired based on their ability to draw, even if its not particularly well. Since Takara handles the engineering, all that's really needed from hasbro is an ability to understand manufacturing(which is why a lot of Hasbro designers have backgrounds in industrial design) Otherwise, they're wanted for their ability to create interesting ideas. Neither Archer or Warden are great artists(though Archer's a lot better recently). And on the takara side, alot of the designers are also pretty good artists, or collaborate with artists/

Hasbro/Takara don't really need reasons beyond the gimmick running it's course. Hasbro has engineered about 20 gimmicks in as many years and only a few return. Even with the thrilling 30 Armada molds they just put 5mm ports and no true gimmicks or even mini con partners for them.
Also the CW combiner port is the 5th port model made and they will likely make a 6th if things go as planned.

These just look ugly, not because they don't transform, but just aesthetically. I really like that MAS Optimus. I love Obari and Sentinel Dancouga is my favorite mecha toy, but 3A just doesn't seem to really get what makes that Obari/Studio Ox style look cool.

That set has been in the US too for ages.

The dragon recolor does still look good.

Lord ballfist looks a bit awkward in that color but I can pretend it's a jack-o-lantern.

Hammer is alright though the robot mode is pretty weak.

And lastly the spear thing is just weak in both bot mode and weapon mode.

All in all it's something I'd pick up at a discount but probably not at full price.

Since we're getting ruination/baldingus as the next UW release, could they be planning to give liokaiser a massive retool using megatronia and him to scrape up some necessary funds?


Here is what I THINK they could do.

Take the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, han solo's pistol of choice, also banned from australia because it looks too much like the Mauser C96.

The 3p megatrons would count as well but they slip under the rader due to the underground nature, that and being packed in robot mode helps, if they were packed in gun form regardless to their accuracy to most people they're guns.

So yeah, if you're in an allyway at night and someone pulls a megatron walther p38 you'll shit yourself but if they pulled a hasbro neratron you'll only wonder how hard they can hit you before it shatters

WV had a shooting this year that lead to 2 kids deaths. The teenager had a custom pink and teal glock and the officer mistook for a toy and approach him slowly asking him to lower the gun, this lead to the officer and several others injured as well as the two fatalities. Most people blame the officer but that's highly unfair because if that officer shot him those hollow point rounds would have likely killed the kid and if that gun was a toy we still blame the officer.

That situation is ultimately what leads to the compromise of eliminating toy guns thus ensure when the officer sees the gun it's a safe bet it's real and he should act accordingly.
It's not a fix all by a long shot, that retard got killed recently holding that black and grey Motormaster and many other accidentally cop shot outs happen for similar reasons.

Also actual shit countries don't really care about kids playing with fake guns because fatalities are so high there a small child getting shot over it is the least of their worries.

People hate the back but takara are front and side people so the back is often neglected, the fact he's so panel heavy as a gun just goes they went in the other direction away from the old mp05.

Overall people will never be completely pleased which is why 3p's exist, I still remember people crying over mp01 and mp10, and as much as I love mp10 his head ain't quite like the g1 show but I ain't gonna cry over it
