NECA GMK in stores yet? My TRU is still full of 2014s.
>>
>>5973393
My TRU just restocked with 85, 94, and 2014 out of nowhere
>>
>>5973399
Weird. I've yet to see 54 in a TRU. I bought mine at FYE.
>>
>>5973399

Ours restocked a few months back and they all sold right through. Minus 2 of the 2014s, anyway.
>>
Monsterarts Kamata-kun preorder when
>>
>>5970859
Wait and see if we get it in the US. It's blatantly sold and packed the same as Bandai Creation's 11" vinyls, plus released alongside the Kiryu and FW Goji.

>>5972173
>nervous

It literally does nothing harmful. You only need it pointed at the figure for 20 or 30 seconds.

I'd really like a shin goji toy that can actually do the memorable things it did in the movie. I'll just settle for a cheap vinyl until someone bothers to do effect parts.
>>
>>5967327
>>5967350
Why did they put so much effort into MOGUERA anyways? He hardly does shit in the movie he's from. He wasn't even a very convincing jobber.
>>
>>5973456
Specially disappointing considering he showed up between the appearances of the second iteration of Mecha Godzilla, and the Super X3, two man made machines that managed to kick some Godzilla ass.
>>
>>5973399
My toy r us doesn't have shit, what the fuck.
>>
>>5973393
is 2014 still selling? All they ever have in my TRU is G14 and G94
>>
>>5973626

It's a good figure, it's Godzilla, so yeah.

Not some sort of expert, but what seems to be the case with the TRU near me is any store thats the combo BRU and TRU get all the newest shipments in, while standard TRUs get them later. Ive also noticed that the northern state stores get their products before the southern ones, which could be because the warhouse locations.

But fuck I really dont know this is all pretty much assumptions.
>>
>>5973668

To be fair, they're in a horrible area up front in the store near the registers...who even looks at that shit except us (especially the people that are shopping at Walmart)?
>>
>>5973686
I see kids of all ages over there all the time getting Pokemon stuff or magic or yugioh cards, so all those people I guess

Also anyone who checks out as those registers
>>
>>5973917

So smokers.
>>
>>5973993
? Cigarettes are near the center while the card aisle is almost always next to the self checkouts/express lanes on the end
>>
What are the odds Monsterarts ShinG will get a price drop down the line? I like it more than the NECA so far, but $100+ is just absurd
>>
>>5974033
Seeing as how popular the movie is, and seeing as it sold out in pre-orders, the chances are close to -74%
>>
>>5973399
Seems odd they never re-released '54. I had to go out of my way to buy him online and most places had him for $50+. I'll definitely be getting GMK and Shin when they come out though.
>>
>>5974033
Not soon

But no I'll bet that they're already planning to release ShinGoji movie accurate version with parts
>>
>>5974354
And it has to come with stealth bombers
>>
Is NECA 94 worth getting if you already have NECA Burning? I plan to get NECA's GMK and Shin and am worried my shelf is getting too crowded (plus I'm a poor fag that last month lost his job n is just getting back to basics). I have NECA 54, 84, Burning and 2014 + revotech Gamera I got for super cheap ($20) on amazon. Would NECA 94 be redundant between 84 and Burning NECA?
>>
>>5974359
If you don't have a job right now, then it ain't worth it. '94 seems to be the cheapest, late comers tax-wise. So you can always get it later.
>>
>>5974359
It's pretty much the same figure minus the orange paint apps

I suppose since you don't have a normal Heisei it wouldn't be redundant on a shelf, but it isn't much different in other aspects
>>
>>5974104
Feels good that the only NECA I bought day 1 was 54 at Toys R Us for 19 bucks. He's the best bug G figure I own. Totally screen accurate, solid and possible. Best figure I own in my modest 9 figure collection (though only 5 are Kaiju)
>>
>>5974365
Well, I Uber/Lyft since I lost muh jeb. But that only pays food n rent with barely enough for bills, so no fun stuff like weed (which I stopped anyway to try n get better job if testing) or drinks or Asian message parlors. Mega no fun zone (not that I'd been to a parlor in over a year anyway). I am retarded though and spent 24 bucks (12 a piece) on two screenings of Shin at the nearest theaters because my Kaiju levels go beyond my bank account.
>>
>>5974365
>'94 seems to be the cheapest

Why is he $40 on Amazon? That's double retail. Not worth it for any action figure. But a steal at retail 20 price. Good luck jobless Anon, I hope you can find him at a store. If you can, grab him. I've yet to see him on shelves though.
>>
>>5974359

"Universal Japan Studios" Edition of what I'm pretty sure is the standard Shin Godzilla vinyl release by Bandai.

http://www.usj.co.jp/universal-cool-japan2017/godzilla/

The theater exclusive Shin Godzilla already shot up three times the original MSRP (though I give it a year or so once the hype dies down, and so will the prices like many other theaters) but this seems like a collector's barrier waiting to happen.
>>
>>5974779
I really don't get the design of Shin Godzilla. Why did they make his arms so small? Now he's limited to how he can fight other kaiju.
>>
>>5974021

Not around here.
>>
>>5974788
KiryuGoji is one of the most restrictive suits in the series, with stiff arms and a head that could not move, yet Toho didn't care and based two versus films around him.

The real answer, this movie probably isn't getting a direct sequel, Anno isn't on board for a sequel, the design isn't exactly applicable for something that can visually combat another creature, and I doubt Toho feels as if they can capture lighting in a bottle twice...Or however the phrase goes.
>>
>>5974800
Aw man, that's kinda disappointing. Good thing the LegendaryGoji sequel is promised to have enemy kaiju.
>>
>>5974788
>>5974800
Technically speaking, if they do somehow make a direct continuation ShinGoji can just evolve further as needed.

But an unrelated next movie is more likely.
>>
>>5974788
>another "why are the arms so small?" anon
I feel like if you dont get his design by now you're just never going to understand it.

He is a walking tank in my opinion. Nothing fazes him (except dorsal bombs).
He isn't meant to be agile or fight hand to hand, he is a long range beamspam unit.

If Godzilla 2014 manages to close in on Shin, it loses. But Shins atomic breath is stronger by the looks of it.
>>
>>5974788
He's fucked up

Also
>implying this is even his final form

>>5974975
'14 Goji also just needs a good night's rest to recoup from Kaiju fights and then he's good as new.

Btw, I still need to see ShinGoji.

So looking forward to this beast!
>>
>>5974788
>Why did they make his arms so small?
Because he starts off with no arms and grows those during the course of the movie. Considering his whole evolving gimmick if he were to come up against another monster he would probably evolve bigger and stronger arms.

Or you know, incinerate them with his super beam.
>>
>>5974800
>KiryuGoji is one of the most restrictive suits in the series
And then Kiryu himself was one of the most flexible. I really have no idea what lead to those decisions!

Agreed. ShinGodzilla is in my opinion the most Defensive and tank like Godzilla of the entire franchise. Seriously, he took everything on the chin and really suffered not. He has his weaknesses definitely, but defense is his claim to fame here.

Also remember the movie Shin Godzilla is *not* a monster movie...it's so much more satirical and political, it's hard to even think that it could have other monsters that it battles or that crap. I love it what it was, political satire first, metaphorical godzilla second.

Godzilla 2014 got nailed by a few measly tank and reacted funny to it, and struggled against the Muto which really aren't that impressive.

I think 14's strength is overrated, and it's already been shown that conventional enemies have no means of going near Shin because of his "defense mechanism," so the idea of closing in is a stretch.

They might, but I still think that's still left to be seen.

I actually hate the MonsterArts Godzilla Junior, the sculpt looks so weird and anorexic, everybody raved on about it during release but I think 1995 Junior bandai vinyl I bought more than 15 years ago looks way better, since it gets the "girth"down better for it's small size. I'd argue some designs just seem to transfer better into vinyl form, rather than joint engineered sculpts, and with both the scaled size of Form 2/3 + their noticeably flat-textured bodies, the second form could at least hold up well.

Thinking about it, the MonsterArts Shin Godzilla standing next to it's premature vinyl forms would make for an interesting juxtapose.

Actually T-rexes arms are vestigial and therefore weak. They had no use for it.
>>
>>5974788
Fuck made a mistake so I edited the post:

T-Rex has small arms and yet they're said to be ridiculously strong and muscular wherein the surrounding theory is that it may have used its arms to prop itself up from the ground or even use them to cling onto their prey while its biting them. Think like ultra strong meat hooks used to hook onto the prey body to keep them close and to stop them from moving while the T-Rex is biting down on them.

While the arms serve no immediate purpose, there's a lot of things you can easily imagine for it in terms of function, and that's not even mentioning the fact that this Goji can evolve per its needed circumstances.

>>5977469
Damn, so that's been proven wrong now?
>>
>>5977469
Double-checked this and no, it's not been proven yet and only some scholars have said it's vestigial in nature. Heck there's even more evidence to suggest that T-Rex's arms had ridiculously' large muscles attached to them which led to the theories of them clinging onto their prey/mate.
>>
>>5977486
Check other T-rexes close relatives, the Carnotaur in particular. He was already on the stage of losing his arms, he had like little chicken fingers sticking out and that was it. It all points to large carnivores going in the route of losing their arms, because proto-wings were not relevant at that size.
>>
>>5977493
Again not proven yet. In fact, some scientists have used Carnotaur as a comparison wherein Carnotaur is definitively said to have vestigial arms yet T-Rex's and other Tyrannosaurids had differently structured arms despite being small in size.

I recognize it's one of those ongoing debates for quite some time and while you may favor one side of the argument, I'm not inclined to agree with you given how there's no definitive answer.
>>
>>5977502
Fair enough, but I don't see any scenario where the arms, even being bigger than the Carnotaurus', would still be useful. They were way too far from the legs or the mouth.
>>
>>5977508
That's fair enough. Just to clear up my side of the argument, it's been theorized that they could have latched onto either their prey (not for capturing, just latching during a bite) or for mating purposes. Another one supposedly said that due to the feathers, it may have been used for display purposes only again.

Again, I recognize it's an ongoing debate, so for all I know I could be wrong whenever some new discoveries crop up.

First rule of creature design is believable anatomy.
When you see a creature like Godzilla, the concept artist has created his bones, his muscles, his organs. We only see the final product.
No one would ever consider that bringing attention other than you.
>>
>>5978435
Godzilla is a fictional creature and they did 50 years just fine without it.

In any case, Shin doesn't have it, so I guess it hasn't caught on.
>>
>>5977888
Typical feminist. Anything with male genitalia offends you.
>>
>>5978438
Eastern creature design is indeed more fantasy and magic based, as a result of their deep spiritual traditions. But if you want to be a creature designer in the west you have to learn animal anatomy and biology.
>>
Does Shin Godzilla's poop evolve too?
>>
>>5978442
This attitude is basically why dragons are being phased out of visual fiction, and brought about The Hobbit Wyvern-shitstorm.

It's really disheartening, even a monster fanboy such Del Toro shitalked dragons and said they don't work, which makes me feel so bad for traditional dragon fans, and in the case of situations like Smaug it's bullshit and doesn't work adversely.

In any case I don't care, my original point was how it's trying too hard anyway. Gills that are impossible to see on screen? Makes sense. Sauropod feet? Fair enough, I believe it goes against the iconic imagery of a reptilian foot stomping on streets/village in favor of a squared chunk of flesh, but I've accepted such a design quirk. Pubic bone though? Literally no purpose than for the sake of it, you could take away the pubic bone and lose nothing, but keep it and you're left with a sign that says the design team had remind you Godzilla is packing some cloaca for the children he'll never and the mating he'll never do. Pass.
>>
>>5978466
Fuck off, with shows like GOTs Dragons are the craze more then ever.

Dude you think a pubic bone is trying "too hard". The only one trying too hard is you and your fetish for it. Go cry about to yourself. No one else cares that you cant get over Legendary Godzilla.

>>5978466

>>
>>5978508
I'm alright with Godzilla '14's design, my original post is that I've accepted a lot of his features as a "design quirk" (and I was never on board with complaining about his weight like other people) but somebody posted a custom paint job where said features are more prominent, and I pointed out my opinion which sort of spiraled into something crazy.

Design is a valid thing to talk about in these threads since we always go on about accurate sculpts and such, if anything people like you are making ir more of a big deal than it really is, screaming fetish crap, when all I said was that it looks really dumb.

>>5978515
>As an artist I much prefer concept with thought behind them.

So what, are you saying the past 27 films didn't have thought put into their designs?

I bet you still hate on MusukoGoji even though it's genius for capturing an aged, worn out facial feature for his parental role with Minya, while having a droopy dad-bod.
>>

Certainly not as much thought as any modern take. They would make some sketches and concepts, sure, but the ruling factor was "will it work as wonky costume?" and the limitations of the casting a sculpt on large pieces of rubber.
I'm sure you love those things because of the rustic charm and nostalgia, but realistically speaking they only look like that because that's the best they could do, not what they would do if they had no limitations.
If something looks goofy I won't be as invested, that's just me.
>>
>>5978548
Fans like you suck, might as well say "these movies have always been cheesy and bad, but we like them : )"

People love to say stupid shit like "Tsurubaya would fill his movies with CGI if he could" but the man was an artist and always on the hunt for creative ways to convey a scenario, such as the horse scene from Frankenstein Conquers the World...Not that you've seen it.

Well, first of all I'm not a huge kaiju fan, I'm very selective of any I like.
You think being a fan means you need to like everything pumped out that isn't modern, it's the typical fanboy mindset. I'm a sculptor and when I see a bad sculpt I need to say "that is a bad sculpt", not just swallow it down because it's part of my subculture scene.
I'm not defending CGI, cause like I've said I'm a sculptor so I respect practical effects. What I'm saying is that if they had the technology to make better sculpts and molds, they would.
Nice ending to that post, btw. "Not that you've seen it, only us very select few knows about giant monsters obscure films". You're being elitist of something that wasn't taken seriously for most of it's theatrical life by the very producers. You wanna know why they look like shit (and they do)? Cause they didn't give a shit. Even good artists can only do so much when the studio just want to pump out stupid fan service.
>>
>>5978556
He called liking older films in the series "rustic charm and nostalgia," do you honestly believe he's seen anything else besides G14 and Shin Goji? (even the latter is a stretch)

Probably one of those weird /co/zilla rejects.
>>

>>
>>5978569
>Well, first of all I'm not a huge kaiju fan, I'm very selective of any I like.

Figures, can't say I'm surprised.

So why are you even posting in fucking Kaiju General then? You know most of the merchandise discussed and posted will spread through over 60 years of film, correct? Of which older film merchandise will dwarf that of G'14 and the small pool of Shin content that currently exist, yeah?

Go troll somewhere else with your tone deaf statements, you're speaking from (even admittedly) ignorance but still feel the need to speak on history and creators you know nothing about. Literally did not read any of that "fanboy" manifesto, nobody cares about your hurt feelings.
>>
t-b-h with the opinions and level intelligence I see presented in this thread, I'm not surprised that there's a poster who openly dislikes kaiju films.
>>
>>5978580
Because I want to? Because I like most goji?
Are you seriously talking about my hurt feelings? That's pretty hilarious, you're the one aggravated here, young man.
I may not know about the cultural insides, but I know how studios worked in the 70's and 80's and I know what drove Godzilla in the goofy direction. Those were executive decisions, not artistic. You wouldn't defend the same were they made in Hollywood instead.
>>
>>5978569
Robin Williams said his favorite movie is War of the Gargantuas, so i'm inclined to trust him more than random internet sculptor man.
>>
>>5978603
That's funny that you need someone else's input to decide something.
Favorite is not the same as best.
Some of my favorite movies are corny and campy shit, I can criticize them without hurting my ego. I can separate myself from a piece of media I enjoy.
>>
>>5978594
We got a real historian here, he figured out that Godzilla received tone changes near the late '60s because of Ultraman's growing success. Jun Fukuda also said no Godzilla movie should have been made after the original, and then he went on to make the wonderfully acted and scored Son of Godzilla, while also using Godzilla as an ironic symbol for fighting guerrilla nuclear warfare in Ebirah HOTD, and Ishiro Honda was forced to broaden KK vs Godzilla thematically for a younger audience, and ended up creating commercialism satire that criticized the very suits he was working for. You're not special for being aware of the fact that suits control the film industry since...Always, so who gives a fuck? Should no Godzilla films have been made after 1954 if that's the case? (Reminder, 1955 was rushed by the studio)

Godzilla VS. Hedorah is the turning point for Godzilla's nonchalant heroism, and it's also among the genres most socially thoughtful entries, part of the reason is the symbolism of the film which was part of a social discourse in Japan at the time of release: "Do we go nuclear or not?"

thecinemasochist.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/atom-good-smoke-bad-reassessing-godzilla-vs-the-smog-monster-in-the-wake-of-fukushima/

>Japan was facing a bright future as it sat on the verge of an industrial upsurge that would make it the world’s second largest economy. But it needed power- electrical power- to make that national dream a reality. And it needed it fast. The traditional means of generating electricity in Japan, coal, would prove to be a major concern: Smog, acid rain, greenhouse gases- all were effects the Japanese people could see- and deplored.

Cheap energy + clean, but needed massive commitment = Japan ironically needed their worst fear, Godzilla.

It's a film whose appreciation differs according to culture. In Japan, film books usually rate it at 3.5/5 stars, and Banno gave enough shit to be banished by Toho for his direction.
>>
>>5978638
I get it, I said "it was just me" when backing my preference. I will always defend artistic freedom and I'll always prefer concepts with little executive interference. THAT'S JUST ME. You shouldn't be triggered by it.
You kind of made my own case with this post, if you are pointing how little freedom they are actually given.

Also off-beat films such as The X from Outer Space are embraced by the Criterion Collection, a series of film restorations meant for arthouse and contemporary films, this in particular being an entrancement of '60s era SciFi pop culture. Once mocked, the film is now given recognition for it.

https://www.criterion.com/films/27689-the-x-from-outer-space

Criterion consider Guilala just as worthy as Godzilla. :^)
>>
>>5978647
>You kind of made my own case with this post, if you are pointing how little freedom they are actually given.

Your shitty point was that just because suits had a hand in the series (as if this is somehow a unique scenario) the artist and creators "didn't give a shit," which history proved you wrong. People like Banno were blacklisted from Toho because they went ahead and did what they wanted anyway, or creatively worked around it (like Honda turning King Kong vs. Godzilla into a shot at Japan's post war commercialisms, with constant satirical commercials pulling the viewer from it's national narrative)
>>
>>5978661
Oi, oi, oi, boyo. I said executives didn't give a shit. Creators will always do their best, they are in the field because of passion. Making suit, dummies and effects is a dying art and it was never fully appreciated in any point in history, if anyone does it is because they love it.
>>
>>5978520
who the fuck is this broke ass bitch? I saved pennies and nickels to watch it last week. That includes the milk duds, pizza slice & medium coke
>>
>>5978661
Banno went on record saying he was never black listed or given hate from anyone at Toho when the film came out. He said that Tanaka only said he didn't like how godzilla was portrayed in the film. Toho even asked him for ideas for the next godzilla movie only to have them rejected due to being expensive
>>
>>5978664
So what's your point then? Executives wanted a change due to shifting markets Japan.

KK vs Godzilla is the most profitable and attended Godzilla film in Japan (adjusted for inflation) even over the original and Shin Godzilla, and that was the shift in design of Godzilla being less demonic and based around terror.

Son of Godzilla has one of the finest non-Ifukube scores in the series, with wonderfully acted characters and the most unique ending out of any traditional Godzilla film.

Hedorah is an arguably experimental masterpiece, giving both the film goer audience and children alike a digestible piece regarding Japan's financial prosperity (the post-nuclear world of greed from '60 films such as Mothra vs Godzilla) and growing pollution problem, a film of which is received very well in it's country of origin because of it's visual think piece.

All Monsters Attack was a compilation made for the Japanese children's film festival, and is the only film in the series to focus on Godzilla as a meta concept, teaching kids and parents alike that an overdose of fiction isn't a good substitution for parenting and socializing.

Sometimes a character is changed and sometimes appeal of the plot is broadened for a larger audience, but who cares when the film's are nevertheless creative and brilliant? Having Kong in Ebirah wouldn't change anything, it's still a brilliant take on foreigner exploitation and "kaiju" terrorism, and GMK would be a fan favorite regardless if Varan and Angilas replaced Mothra and Ghidorah, these hands hold very little weight in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>5978705
My point is I don't like them. That's literally it.
You say that even MusukoGoji is genius, well I disagree, I think it looks like garbage. And the only reason it exists is to appeal to family friendly. I don't like pandering.
>>
>>5978708
That's a pretty retarded opinion to have then, cause literally every Godzilla film after the original has pandering in some shape or form. I wouldn't be surprised if the original was a victim of it, either.

Stay ignorant I guess.

>>5978698
I'm not sure what wikia you're getting this information from, but books such as David Kalat Critical History of Toho which are written by actual historians have stated that Tomoyuki Tanaka used his power to "banish" Banno from working on furthur Kaiju Eiga films, ergo directing Toho films, he managed an assistant role in Prophecies of Nostradamus and nothing else of significance.

Fukuda would have likely directed Hedorah 2 had his draft ever came to fruition anyway.
>>
>>5978723
Right, cause the design is fucking terrible by any artistic standards, it's an ignorant and retarded opinion.
I don't blame you for having shit taste, cause your eye probably doesn't bleed from bad art, so you're the one who have an opinion based on ignorance, artistic ignorance. It's ugly, poorly sculpted, poorly injection molded, cast in shitty materials and painted by a child. You cannot see that because you are ignorant to the production process, thus you like it. Good for you.
>>
>>5978733
You sure know a lot about the production of a film which you've never even seen.

That statement was directed towards your idealism of anti-pandering and how it can't be good for it's inviting design, or "family friendly," not the belief of whether or not it looks good. (It's common for people to dislike it and completely miss the point of why it's so great, as a vicious design would not have worked for the ending)

Shin Godzilla's first form, a goofy, no armed, anime-eye-having design was affectionately named and took over Japan by storm, with people even cosplaying as him, so I guess you can't like this visceral take on Neo-Japan Nationalisms and bureaucracy either, because the first 20 minutes has pandering. : (

Contain your autism, go sculpt a Wyvern or whatever is popular with you kids nowadays.

>>5978648
What's up with the right MechaG? Is it gold or is that just the "shine?"
>>
>>5978755
You don't seem to get it, gojitard. It is a poor piece by any standards. It doesn't matter the intentions of the movie, the thing is badly made. Can you understand that concept? It is objectively shitty.
I don't need to know ANYTHING at all about the production of the movie itself, as long as I'm familiar with the process of making movie suits and props I can tell by looking at it that it is shit.
You nostalgia goggled fags are spergs as fuck. I'm being as simple as I can: the suit is shit. And you cannot comprehend it because you are buried in apologism and pre built arguments to justify a bad design.

We got in the gmk Godzilla at my local Toys R Us. All of them really bad paint jobs on the lower jaw. It seems that they used a pink plastic for the lower jaw and painted the outside of it to match the skin tone, but didn't use enough paint and the pink shows through.

Unless you are handy with paint, I would skip this release or wait until they do an updated batch. I found one that wasn't as bad as pic related, but I'm still going to have to do some light touch up work. Pic is the worst of the bunch.

Other than that issue, it's a pretty great sculpt.

I too am really curious what (or how) NECA uses for their references. I've searched the suit and nowhere can I find a photo with GMK having such pronounced gums, it's really puzzling, and till this day I have no clue how that first sculpt for '85 even happened.

That's actually Kiryu-Goji, from 2001-2, not Godzilla 2000. And by happenstance, the figure there is the standard Bandai release, which actually was specifically 8-9" tall. Bandai Godzilla vinyls used to exist almost exclusively in that scale, for a while existed alongside 6" figures, then disappeared after Final Wars.
>>
Is NECA GMK glossy like most of the other figures or is he more matte like NECA 54?

Also for anyone who has NECA and shma GMK, what are your thoughts on them in terms of price, appearance, quality, etc?
>>
>>5984076
Not really.

Neca is better for the price, unless you can get a deal (clearance or other) on the MA. I wouldn't spend $80 again, considering the loose joints on the arms and all. The NECA just has more personality, and is a nice hefty figure.

The MA is a little more accurate, but for the cost it sure as hell better be.

Honestly, you're good buying either. It depends on tour budget most of all. I like the color on the NECA more, but the MA has more range of movement (loose joints be damned). Etc etc.

I'm happy with both.

God, the dorsal plates look so fucking bad on this. Everything about this toy looks so cheap, or "basic," even the light-up feature is underwhelming.

This thing isn't worth fucking $200 or whatever they're asking.

Look at the picture you just before this one, the back of the neck in particular.

In videos you can barely notice the light-up effect too. They just dropped the ball with this one, should have at least been $50 cheaper.

Why is Bandai dropping the ball so hard on these overly expensive releases, lately?
>>
>>5974788
ShinGoji's whole shtick is that it's constantly re-configuring its body to suit its needs. It didn't need arms when it was underwater, and when it hit land, it didn't really need them there either - the only real opposition it was dealing with was humanity, which it dealt with in other ways (the beam spam). Hell, it was implied in the end of the movie that it would've split itself into a colony of smaller organisms if it hadn't been frozen. I imagine that if it ever needed to fight something its own size, it would alter its body accordingly and grow some decent arms, but there's no need for body parts you won't be using.

SHMA is so hell bent on staying Heisei they go into the concept art files OR they FINALLY are making a brand new sculpt

How's the neca 1954 godzilla? He considered good for the line?
>>
>>5987191
He's arguably the best next to G'14.
>>
>>5986963
So further proof that Kalat and the other hacks basically liked to just make shit up.
>>
>>5987200
Just asking as I impulsed purchased him for £25. I have never owned a neca G before. Was just wondering if he was considered a good figure in the line
>>
>>5987201
Nothing in the SciFi Japan interview contradicts what Kalat said other than that Banno was explicitly banished by Tanaka, which Banno states he was "surprised to hear."

He went into further detail explaining why Tanaka disliked the film (beyond Godzilla's character, he hated the "atmosphere" of the film too) and jokingly assumed that Tanaka suspected he would make more weird films. The African story also existed but it was Mr Tanaka that provided said info of Banno's rough drafts.

It's almost a 20 year book so I'm not surprised that said events were further clarified, and if we're nitpicking, the original poster also made up Toho "asking him for ideas" when all that was stated is that he presented an unnamed Godzilla film and was rejected due to costs. He also put words in Banno's mouth that were never said about black listing or "hate" by Toho (that I doubt he would ever personally nor publicly reveal) which was never specified in the interview, unless that's what he was meant by Banno's surprised reaction.
>>
>>5987262
That's all the American Godzilla fandom is.

"I heard" being passed off as facts over the decades.
>>
>>5987288
Blame Tanaka then if you don't like that unnamed Godzilla film in Africa and Hedorah sequel weren't that same thing, he provided the information to Kalat.

>>
>>5986472
looks fine to me. why are you kaiju fags so picky?
>>
But here's a question.

When will we get an actually GOOD Kong figure?
NECA's not touching the Skull Island license for some reason even though theyve been successful with Legendary's other 2 giant monster franchises.

I have the SHMA Kong and it fucking sucks. I regret selling my NECA Deadspace Isaac to get it. It's nowhere near as pose-able as the promo shots make it seem and it falls apart easily. Maybe Bandai will do another SHMA Kong for skull island? Or are they going to wait till he fights Godzilla.

I would love a 1933 Kong though.

Eh, i'll stick with the vinyl, it got the colors down way better. That's an oddly bright hue of orange for what was basically pitch red.

Most merch so far has been way too red IMO, that form seemed a lot fleshier in the actual movie.
>>
>>5990499
Regardless I think that's way too bright.

The first form looks a little "flat" too, but I can't put my finger on it. It could just be the lighting though I'm not sure, it feels like a yellow saturation is needed to really get that look down. As of now it just looks like normal skin.

What a joke. Shinzilla is so fucking weak. Bunker bombs made him spew out chunks of flesh and blood whilst 14 took Americas most powerful nuke and just scratched his balls.
>but shin blew some buildings up
Yeah okay, I guess that somehow means he can take on a literal tank. Not only would its lasers not hurt him, he would run out of juice in 7 seconds and sleep for a week, and 14, with its superior strength would just tear into him and fuck him up.

Also, we still don't know how strong 14s atomic breath is. And no, the one in the movie was disrupted by the emps and yes that was actually part of the plot and not a tacked on point in response to the weak attack
