Oh definitely. They're the ideal size for TM heads, their alt modes are appropriately scaled for those little robots (as opposed to someone like Astrotrain/Sentinel, where the cockpit area is an entire spacecraft bridge), and not having to be multichangers allows them to be very good at the one alt mode they do get.

So yes, it is a bad Allspark fanfiction.

I don't think there ever will be a more cringeworthy series than Animated.
>>
>>5972957
Hm? What in particular was cringeworthy about Animated proper?
>>
>>5972950
My only problem with this is the existence of Masterson in the Animated universe and the fact that they share the Headmaster name.
>>
>>5972958
The horrible art style and the poor characters, along with the very bland and tasteless plot. Then you have shit like this.

There never has been a good TF series and there likely never will be.
>>
>>5972966

>>5971967
I always really liked that Optimus design.

If the BW MPs are a sign that they're going to be doing some MPs from other lines, then I know fire convoy is going to be a day one pre-order for me.
>>
>>5972972
To talk about toys. TF fiction is just elaborate advertising for said toys.
>>
>>5972927
I'm so bitter about that perfect effect head. The set I ordered came warped and looked terrible with both versions of the head. Plus the crest came off and the blade for his smaller sword keeps coming off the hilt when i try ti pull it out of the vehicle mode storage.
>>
>>5972977
PE's QC has always been really weird. My PE Bruticus hands and feet set has incredibly squeaky thumb ball joints.
>>
>>5972942
The KO general is the other way.
>>
>>5972973
>>5972976

At first you say the show is "cringeworthy", and then you cite such things as a "horrible" art style, "poor" characters, and a "bland and tasteless" plot.

This isn't cringeworthy, this is just your opinion and whether you like these things or not is heavily subjective.
>>
>>5972988
Cringeworthy is also subjective. Your point being?

You're whining about a subjective elaboration on a subjective statement. Was English class just never your strong suit in school?
>>
>>5972991

So what is horrible about the artstyle? Why are the characters poor? Why is the plot bland and tasteless? You're big on elaboration, please share.

>>5972966
I disagree with you, but I understand that the art style isn't for everybody. The differences in character personality compared to other versions of TF could put you off of it too. I think the story of it was pretty good though.

I suppose the combination of those aspects that you didn't like made for an unsavory experience with Animated. That's alright though. Thanks for the response, anon.

Apparently, Legends Leo Convoy does include one of Sentinel/Astrotrain's guns, since this picture posted on the @TF_pr account has him with the gun in robot mode, so it wasn't a goof in previous pictures.
>>
I never liked some of the facial expressions on the animated toys. Like Bumble has a dreamworks smirk and Wreck-gar has this ridiculously dopey grin. I always prefer neutral expressions.
>>
>>5973003

I found Wreck-Gar's grin charming, but yeah, some of the faces were odd
>>
>>5973002
The placement of gold paint on him is superb. I wish the figure actually appealed to me more.
>>
>>5973009
Yeah, he's a dopey character so the dopey grin isn't a problem by itself, but facial expressions like that never pose well, I find.

Like if I took a picture of Wreck-gar fighting some other bot and they both had weird awkward smiles like they're old friends that just met or something it'd be weird.
>>
>>5972881
Only two classes I've bought are Legends and Deluxe. I wasn't super-impressed with any of the Legends over the last year, but it's between Chop Shop and Shockwave.

As for deluxe, definitely Hardhead. He was an impulse buy when I discovered him out early in the end of July at a local TRU which surprised me because usually I don't see ANYTHING at retail. I hadn't bought a Deluxe since long before CW because fuck CW, but Hardhead finally feels like a toy that is completely fulfilling on its own, instead of being compromised for the sake of its gimmick, its enhanced in every way. I bought a couple more Deluxes, but Hardhead is still the best.

So when it comes to Hot Spot/Onslaught, it's really up to preference isn't it? They both look good and play well, with Onslaught's heel spurs compensating for Hot Spot's third leg ladder; and both vehicle modes being decent.

Although I hear that Bruticus is a better torso than Defensor.

Bruticus is the better torso because they fixed some issues the Hotspot version had.

Heads up, looks like the guys behind mpp10 are doing more improved ko variants.

>mpp27

...did they forget to install the skirt panels in the hips, where are his ass tires?

I thought they were just gonna upscale him for god knows why, now I'm curious, also other ko products I have no interest in.

>inb4thirdparty

Technically these are knock offs of official and while people have said good things in the past about their stuff, they aren't bound by the same qc takara and hasbro have with theirs, plus its for the official fags so they don't fuck up and assume the ironhide they seen on ebay was just a typo, pretty sure they'll commit Sudoku if they bought an unofficial product by mistake, ignore if it displeases you so you don't bring more attention to this post :^)
>>
>>5973194

Super good locking tabs to make him secure. The leg untabbing issue from Hotspot fixed.
>>
>>5973194
>Defensor's left thigh not staying tabbed together at all
>Hotspot's forearms not staying tabbed into his shoulders for the combiner transformation
>Hotspot's shoulder articulation (which is supposed to stay in place by a ratchet joint and by being tabbed together with the defensor chestwings) coming about constantly whenever you try to move Defensor's arms around

Mostly just looseness that can be fixed with pledge, but still something worth mentionning.
>>
>>5973197
Ok there are some prototype shots of the damn thing.

Looks like they perfected ironhide, but as a result of his upscale he may not fit into a standard mp collection, maybe I'll get a diaclone repaint
>>

Weren't there images floating around of an Ironhide upgrade kit? whatever happened to that?
>>
>>5973197
What exactly did they do to those poor defenseless QTFs?
>>
>>5973203
My Onslaught's forearms refuse to lock in as well; thankfully Bruticus's shoulder orientation means that it's not really that big of an issue.
>>
When the fuck are we going to get new Twin Twist/Topspin figures?
>>
>>5973217
The arms not locking in isn't an issue as defensor either, but it's still something that comes apart and might get annoying

I wish they'd release all 3 Legends Insecticons in a more unified colourscheme. Preferably with silver paint (or even chrome if we're lucky) instead of that awful bare grey plastic on Shrapnel's mandibles.

An Insecticon three-pack would be much appreciated. I didn't grab Skrapnel when he was available, so getting another chance would make me happy.

I just hope the person in charge of the decoes on this hypothetical box set knows what they're doing; make Kickback's wings silver and all their 'cockpits' an even gold and I would be satisfied even if the purples didn't match.

>>5973906
That is actually somewhat how his elbows were in the show.

Only instead of the hinge being "centered" in his arm, it's more forward to allow for better articulation than it would if it were 100% accurate.

That being said though I understand why people aren't happy with the doorhinge elbows, and they probably could have had some filler slide out of his biceps to make it look nicer if they had a mind to.
>>
>>5973921
Or I suppose his triceps, rather. I tend to refer to the entire upper portion of arms as biceps for some reason.

I still don't understand why his elbows are hinged like that. I'm usually pretty lenient when it comes to giving a pass to necessary compromise, but when the toy has the same arms in both modes, fucking with the elbow joint doesn't really add up.

>>5973684
I saw it at a local collectible shop, deluxes marked up to 20 bucks. Also, every time I go to my local Walgreen's they seem to have one or two random deluxes from wave 2 as well. Both of my local TRUs seem to have given up on transformers. They got a handful of wave 1 deluxes, and nothing from any other size class, and they both recently just downsized their Transformers section to about a 2-foot-wide area. I've heard other anons say their TRUs have done this too. It doesn't bode well for me ever seeing future waves in person.
>>
>>5973684
Try Walgreen's. Sure, you're paying $20+tax for them, but it'll be about that price anywhere else nowadays.
>>
>>5973933
>downsized their Transformers section to about a 2-foot-wide area.
Yeah all my walmarts and TRUs do this too

Only my TRU keeps box sets and leader size classes and higher toys in their electronics section. Does anyone else see that?
>>
>>5973945
I decided to just cave and pay that, too. I was probably wasting more money in gas to try and find them at other retailers.
>>
>>5973948
I never thought to check. Thanks for the heads up.
>>
>>5973954
yeah last time I was there they had a bunch of platinum sets and the G2 combiners on a shelf near the counter. they also tend to keep adult figures and collectables around there as well.

I guess they don't want anyone stealing the good stuff.
>>
>>5973952
I remember a time when Walgreen's prices used to be considered insane (when Deluxes were $9)...

>>5973948
My store's NECA/Funko/Adult Collectables section was moved from the main action figure aisle to right next to where the Toys-To-Life figures are.
>>
>>5973945
I actually broke down and bought Weirdwolf, Mindwipe, and Chromedome from mine because there's one within walking distance of my house and I really like all of the classic headmaster characters.

I didn't find Highbrow so I ordered him on Amazon for roughly the price Walgreen's has him at.

But the leaders and voyagers of wave 2 still seem to elude me. At least the titan masters/legends are readily available online for non rape prices.

I've only seen the wave 2 legends in general retail. Wave 2 deluxes in walgreens only. It's weird and kinda annoying. I want my Soundwave and Alpha Trion, dammit.
>>
>>5973909
Great figure. Much better legs than that crappy streetwise mold. Only thing it's lacking is color on the little headmaster guy. Needs something to break up all that red
>>
>>5973909

Loving all of the Deluxes so far.
>>
>>5972922
What he's saying is, that despite featuring a gimmick the original toy never featured, it doesn't interfere with the toy possibly being the best version of the character.
>>
>>5974034
I seriously think that Wave 2 is one of the best waves of deluxes we've gotten in ages. Can anything beat it?

I've only been collecting since like halfway into Thrilling 30 and I can't think of any other wave where all the toys were superb.
>>
>>5973684
Honestly all my Walmarts and Targets still have pegs full of wave 1, so I can't blame them too much on not stocking wave 2 already.

It's too bad though. This isn't a line I'd touch unless I can buy it from a store that allows for returns in case I get a particularly bad case of QC.
>>
>>5974063
My favorite probably:

2010-11 Generations

Scourge
Tracks/Wheeljack
Grapple
Perceptor
Windcharger
Thunderwing
Skyshadow
Lugnut
Warpath

TR is better than CW since removing the head has probably made the designer's jobs easier compared to say CW where each toy was really designed for three/four forms both as a robot/vehicle/arm/leg/torso
>>
>>5974088
>generations wheeljack
Gross
>>
>>5974088
I'm talking about a whole wave, though. Was there a super solid deluxe wave in generations 2010?

>>5974093
I still don't have a wheeljack for my classics collection and I have no clue why. I have the prime one, though. It's fantastic. I bought it on a whim for like $5 at a comic con a few years ago and it's probably the best $5 I've spent on a single toy.
>>
>>5974079
We have had steady stock of wave 1 at my local Walmart, which sold quick, then we got two cases of wave two, which sold like hot cakes, now we've been stagnating on two cases of wave one.
>>
>>5974101
The Prime Wheeljack mold is boss, I prefer the Dead End version myself.
>>
>>5974101
>I'm talking about a whole wave

That era of Generations didn't have an over arching brandling like T30, CW and TR. Hasbro released stuff under a bunch of brands including RTS. But the list is most of what was considered Generation and a lot of it is still considered good even now.
>>
>>5974101
Because there is no good CHUG Wheeljack as of now. CW's one is painfully underpainted and half assed while the Generations one is so obese it'd make Classics Bumblebee insecure.

I wasn't super keen on his gorilla-esque proportions so I lengthened his legs. He was a great figure either way, even in a series of other pretty great toys.

It might be a bit too much, but it's reversible except for a few bits I had to cut away, but I doesn't affect his original transformation.
>>
>>5974103
I'm not sure if my stores had ever gotten wave two. I don't think there are enough collectors/scalpers to make them disappear before I had any idea they were there. When the Walmart first got wave 1, which was a pretty big deal I think, the figures stayed on the pegs for quite a long while.

He's not even that short or fat. I've seen a ton of pictures of him with his chest not pushed up all the way, or his knees not extended. He's really only short next to deluxes of his own era. Just after that, there was the great downsizing, and he fits in with most of those dudes pretty well.

I cycled mine into storage ever since the MP arrived, but every now and again I'll pull him out and fiddle with him. He's really great. I might wait and see if all the CW Wheeljacks pegwarming at my TRU go on clearance, then I might pick one up to do a head swap, since the new head is pretty nice. HLJ Sends it out as fast as your earliest pre-order date so the earlier you have pre-ordered the first you get served out and if you go on EMS a good 5~7 days and you will have the item and if there is any problem their support is so good that last time I had a problem, I got a reply within 30 mins of me sending the email.

Just a heads up though, AmiAmi doesn't do cancellation on orders since they literally hold a gun on the head of your account that if you cancel anything from them they will almost always instantly ban you from the site on the spot while HLJ you can cancel stuff easily without any problems.

I should warn you that you should verify your orders with HLJ immediately after placing them, and check again every few minutes for an hour just in case. They have a glitch on occasion that duplicates orders, and they will NOT cancel the order, or pay for the shipping so you can return the extra items.
>>
>>5974505
Weird, I thought they did cancel it if it was the wrong order. They will just cancel the order or adjust it for your if you email them fast enough.

>>5974504
That is really unfortunate.
>>
>>5974511
I have no idea if they do that, all I know is that I saw the verification for the items, went out for a job, then saw a second verification when I got home. They didn't let me cancel, or pay for the return shipping.

I got fed up with their customer service (who straight up lied, said it was my fault, then let it slip that it was an error on their system). The best part was that they kept saying they'd do their best to help, then did jack shit to actually help. I made a claim to paypal and got the cash for the duplicated items, and the difference in shipping due to those items.
>>
>>5974518
So it's the usually Japanese thing of not admitting their fault or they will have to seppuku themselves huh. Well at least you got on top by getting your money back from Paypal and shit.

Ok, looks like sentinel trump is everywhere, and I need advice.

I have the sdcc vomit fest, say what you will, I like it though the floppy legs are a shame, I have convoy bat on pre-order and am currently painting a custom skullsmasher for megalligator's body.

But I already own an alpha trion, yet I wouldn't mind a lio prime, can I really give home for a repaint with a new head which is a repaint of a toy I already have?

Or should I abandon convoy bat/both, the custom skullsmasher can take one of the nightbeat heads I'm painting
>>
>>5974826
You seem to be a Beast Wars fan. Maybe you can sell off your A3 so you can have room in your life for Lio Convoy.

I don't see how letting go of Convobat would help anything.
>>
>>5974826
Just pass on Lio Convoy, that thing is ugly cancer. Only reason people say positive things about it is the weeb shilling.

Well unlike g1 which I technically didn't grow up with (grew up with the g2 re run) I watched beast wars along side things.

Makes me wonder though, what will takara do with the A3 head?

>>5974835
I've been thinking that, since the mold, while nice looking, really was made for alpha trion based on the art renditions even if its accurate to nothing, not even its own concept art in pic related, but still more accurate than lio convoy, strange how that works.

Apart from extra paint in places like over the TM hatch its a straight up recolor in mostly the same places, with a new gun (recycled) and new (recycled) head.

Its just a shame that lio convoy has the damn maximal symbol on him and he's cheaper than convoy bat, just seems more professional in a sense
>>
>>5974841
That's because Takara's "muh accuracy" cancer forces them to make sure everything is on point, if not it would trigger their internal weeb circuits and cause them to self destruct.

>Makes me wonder though, what will takara do with the A3 head?
It's possible that they end up doing nothing with it. Takara never released the Huffer head on Legends-class Prime, or the Warpath head on Megatron.

Although since fiction-wise Alph is already currently a tiny robot (albeit inside of Ultra Magnus), maybe he'll get a head-only release with a legends figure. "Sharkticon with Alpha Trion"
>>
>>5974851
Possible, they could easily ditch the brawn head since he's getting a legends release
>>
>>5974848
We all know Lio Convoy was a shitty Aaron Archer tier forced repaint.
>>

I actually like the lio convoy version more than the alpha trion version

Either way it's a shitty, barely accurate toy.

He means that this type of redeco is similar to the way redecos were more commonly done under Archer: made on the basis of alt mode similarity, not by preplanned design.

Only thing I like more about Lioconvoy is that the spaceship mode looks awesome. Besides that the lion mode is meh and the robot mode is not-very-lioconvoy.

I'd say a Scourge redeco with the Alpha Trion head is pretty likely. They already showed interest in doing something similar before with the bomber Scourge mold.
>>
>>5974892
Considering what his old g1 alt mode was supposed to be I wouldn't mind this.

IF they retool him somewhat
>>
>>5974892

For those that hate them, you should find it funny that Fun Pub got out of the TF game when they did. They would have milked the shit out of the ready-made mix-and-match heads and bodies of the Titans Return line.

One benefit of all the extra Titan Master heads would have been a good pool to draw from to find good character fits.

For now we'll probably mostly have to settle for Hasbro redecos, and Takara exclusives like bat Optimus Primal.

I hope you're still there, anon.

Transformers come in jets of all sizes, but my recommendations to you come in the Legends class; ~4 inch figures that go for around 10 USD.

Pic related features Powerglide (red) and Viper (blue). Turning into tiny A-10 Thunderbolts (or a legal approximate), these guys are a joy to swoosh around. Their plane modes are nicely pegged together, and they even have landing gear!

In robot mode, they have a good range of articulation. Their ball-jointed shoulders have a nice wide cut, their hinge elbows manage a really deep bend, and their legs -- with hinged feet and ball-jointed hips and knees -- can handle a good deal of posing.

The weakest aspect on this mold is the bonus gun mode, meant for large figures. It's not very convincing, and they end up being too heavy for most figures anyway.

Oh, and I gotta mention: Viper's colors reference the Cobra Rattler from GI Joe, even getting a headsculpt based on the figure that piloted the Rattler. His faction symbol does indeed feature the Cobra logo.

TL;DR: Viper or Powerglide from 2015's Combiner Wars line. Good toys.

I used to complain about hasbro blurr and scourge because of their shelf warming capacity, I say this as an owner of 2 tr scourges.

But in this picture I can hardly spot the blurrs

My other recommendation is another mold in the Legends assortment. Judging from people's reports in the past few weeks, it would still be possible to actually find at least one of these guys on shelves.

These three are the Seekers: Starscream (gray), Thundercracker (blue), and Skywarp (black). Classics baddies since G1, they all turn into fighter jets of indeterminate make (somewhere between an F-15 and an F-22). Their jet modes are a little less satisfying than Powerglide's, with big robot chunks highly visible underneath. They also come with landing gear, but it's not retractable (the photographer in this case actually snipped the landing gear off because they aren't necessary).

In robot mode, they are decently articulated; their shoulders, elbows, and hips are ball-jointed, white their knees and feet are on hinges. Their heads are unarticulated.

It should be noted that all three of them come with pairs of guns by default. They come attached to their upper arms, but they can be detached and held in their hands.

Overall, not quite as good as Powerglide/Viper, but they're still good toys. Certainly they are easy to mess around and have miniature dogfights with.

>>5974995
There looks to be an even distribution of Blurrs and Scourges.

You know, from afar it's actually not that hard to tell the two apart; Blurrs are more teal while Scourges are a deep blue.

That's a ridiculous degree of shelfwarming though.
>>
>>5975006
Admittedly I had to look on the packaging to find the blurrs, and that took me some time.

BTW, I have red/green colorblind, eye doctor told me I may have some difficulty telling certain tones apart from each other.

Which is funny, when she pointed to her camo pants I pointed the tone differences, guess from afar or certain resolutions I have difficulties.

Anyway, I will note one thing, despite my dislike for hasbro's blurr, the shelf warming around me locally is usually 3 scourges to one blurr, occasionally it's skullsmasher in place of blurr (I put that down to the odd head), and as of now wave 2 has came and gone, leaving us wave 1 scourges and the odd blurrs, funny how that happens.

I just hope they deplete enough so wave 3 can come without hassle

Oh, I see why you're having trouble then. If I may ask, are there any redecos that just don't seem any different from the original, in your perspective?

It's funny how Scourge ended up being the bigger shelfwarmer. You'd think a few people would actually troopbuild him.
>>
>>5975025
Not so much redeco's between redeco's, but the flame print on mp sunstorm I couldn't see until I had him in hand, and I had to be told about how the takara version had a tone shift in the same colors as the flame print, and both tr and legends hardhead's green look exactly the same to me, even in hand, its the differences in the deco that alert me otherwise.

I suspect a few factors are against scourge, lack of current media exposure may mean people aren't aware of troop building capacity, perhaps put off by the blandness, the inaccuracy of the thighs for g1 toy homage, or the neck port failure.

Wave 2 and up will be better waves due to the color variance, each figure is broken up well color wise

So, that's one of 2 down.

I'm not gonna do any special surprises, this is my hasbro nightbeat, painted to look like takara's using model paints I intended for other models, I didn't bother doing shit with the stock blue plastic, left it as is.

The keenest of eyes will spot the flaws, but you know what, I don't really care, tried to fix them, kept failing, gave up because unlike the last one the acrylic paints didn't bubble up after a top coat of lacquer which never happened before, ever.

Didn't bother repainting the TM figure apart from the arms (no blue, just straight gun metal arms), and see the fucked up job on the mouth?

I'm just gonna pretend he lost a tooth, he does the job, but taking this shot made me realize something, despite the compatibility some heads just aren't made to work on certain ports, nightbeat is more loose than hasbro scourge on his own body, but hardhead here clicks and locks in place, how weird

>hur dur its the legends hardhead

The point of this post is to show off my JUST paint job from yellow nightbeat to JUST nightbeat and the hardhead is simply where he sits in the meantime, I hope to do a better job with MANerva but I can't make any promises
