Well the tone was still in flux even when the toys were already out. Stuff like the ads and comics were more somber and serious, but the scrapped PC game veered more towards a goofier tone with stuff like the dance party ending. God knows how a movie would have turned out had they made one back in 01.

Strange to think how much of what fans loved about Bionicle had little to do with deliberate decisions and planning ahead on Lego's part. MNOG came about because Lego was busy with the PC game, the comics because Greg submitted a script he wrote in his free time, the whole mythology and Matoran culture because they were forced to deliver exposition through media without revealing the big twist, and the entire theme because Lego was scrambling to stay afloat.

Then when Lego took a tighter grip on things, it began slowly falling apart.

So the new Nexo Knights sets have new rock wheels which look like rocks and could potentially be used in the same way we've been using the Power Miners wheels to make mask pedestals. I think it'd be cool to have a mask pedestal that looks less ornate and more sinister/natural.

That and the sets also have trans-purple to trans-light blue HF lightning pieces so now my JtO Makuta palette swap will have a better staff. The gold lightning I'm using right now is fine but these new ones feel like they'd work better.

Plus Mixel Mechs are cool.

Man, fuck Bricklink. I tried to upload the Overlord Makuta LDD file to create a wanted list of parts but I kept getting an error. And it did the same for other models I tried to upload.
So I checked the BL forums and saw someone mention BrickOwl. It's not quite as feature packed as BL but at least it uploaded the LDD files seamlessly, and it's quite easy to use.

Yea, they're really that simple, I mean the show is okay, though I still don't see the point of having x amount of different Nexo scans/powers when they are literally the exact same in effect, there is no visual change at all, just the same orange charge up. One would think with a toy based set that is supposed to encourage creativity they'd do at least a few armor variations when they get the power up.
Sets are cool though I admit. I'm still thinking if I should buy any however, haven't bought a system set in years.
