Made some changes to Chromedome to match his comic appearance more.

Great, just wish the titan master pegs and ports (as in for the titan master mode not for the head mode) were consistent, some figures are too tight for the same peg (my squeeze play now has a stress fracture on his legs, now he has/is cancer) while others are too loose and fall off on the same peg.

And the takara wins again meme doesn't work on them as even the takara figures have differing peg holes, I just want my voyagers and up littered in mini men, is that too much to ask for?

You know, I grew up with it so Beast Wars is my "default" for Transformers, but how do you guys who missed out on it see it? I imagine it must seem totally weird, especially if you came into the franchise after it, since the aesthetics are so different from other Transformers series. Though I'm with you, the toy IS pretty much a G1 representation aside from the head. Shadowplay Chromedome was a pretty standard for a Chromedome design, close enough to the G1 character model. So Hasbro head can lean one way, and Takara head can lean the other. I'm getting both for these reasons.

I got Titans Return Galvatron yesterday, and it's painfully obvious that he had Titans Return forced on him. The chest cavity is more than big enough for his entire head while the jet cockpit just hangs off both G1 modes as kibble. This coupled with the somewhat incoherent rest of the jet mode, it seems like somebody decided that Galvy needed to be a triplechanger, fiddled around with the prototype before coming up with something that could feesibly work 'if we stick a cockpit in here'.

Pity because if he had a real head and no jet kibble he would be an amazing G1 Galvatron. As it is he's good, but he makes too many sacrifices to match the line's gimmicks.

It restricts his outward arm swivel. And yes, the cannon is annoying, but there are Shapeways fixes for that. There is no fix for the annoying tread placement but apparently it's ok because it's geewun

So I stopped by Walmart and they had the new Deluxes, so I picked them all up.
Mindwipe is definitely the star of the wave

Having first seen RID2001, I thought that Beast Wars was weird and went through the whole "TRUKK NOT MUNKY" and "muh faceplate" phase. After going through the Ultimate Guide and sone Youtube clips however, I came to appreciate the characters and story of BW and thus the toys. Wish I had some.

I like the Alpha Trion but he has a lot of problems, in Robot mode he makes a good shelf decoration but he wouldn't be good for kids to play with, his Lion articulation is garbage and the shipmode is terrible looking. Skullsmasher feels the same, he is way too flimsy in gator mode.

Yeah waist rotation is a big one, also his shoulders are sucky, the hip ratchets on mine are very stiff and the clicks are far apart and he has no ankle tilt so his stances are awkward, again those damn propellers getting in the way of moving his arms around, and his headmaster port is higher up so the heads are kinda loose. Oh, also his guns have little tires on them like they're supposed to touch the ground when attached to helicopter mode but there's no way to orient them that way

I have a Scourge and 3 sweeps. Generations Scourge is Scourge, Titanium and G1 are Sweeps while Titans Return is this girl with her own Sweep partner, like when Daniel was in Arcee's head.

Since Generations is the only one with a different Alt. Mode he stands out too much to be a Sweep.

Ok, another complaint about hasbro's was the head was jammed on sideways requiring complete disassembly to get it out without resorting to brute force, but other than that they're exactly the same.

One thing though between them is their heads, while the TM guys are exactly the same right down to paint apps, the heads are a nice contrast.

The sharp edgy lines on hasbro's would hold better over time and tends to pop drawing your eyes, while the takara hits that sweet nostagia spot only those who grew up with the show would know.

That said, the figure is shit in general compared to the superion hardhead mold, it may lack waist movement, but more TM ports all over the vehicle body, beef care proportions, and the heads on both are actually accurate to g1 toy and g1 japanese show, you can't go wrong with him no matter which company you shill for.

Actually, it was cheaper for me to get the unite warriors, since some of the "local" releases either weren't released here, scalped and sold for far more than they're worth, online exclusives that disappeared faster than lightning (and were also made extortionate), and lazy releases of the characters (blast-off, the technobots). It was less of a hassle to go UW and less expensive. I was on board with combiner wars initially, but they really shit the bed with it, in my opinion.

Jokes aside UW superion was a minimal redeco and wasn't JUST like the others (although UW grand galvatron I have a soft spot for, I own both hasbro and takara there), but then hasbro did give us the g2 sets and Victorion (and that poor set is getting an even harder to defend neon repaint into decepticons, looks like the femcombiner got the short end of the stick), and honestly, CW bruticus would of been perfect if blastoff was perfected in robot mode AND the bruticus chest was painted silver rather than the dull grey (or even a grey closer to the old toy), blastoff may better fit the theme of bruticus as a jet but that can't hide the fact he's a lazy repaint that would of been saved with a new head alone

I think they could get a few bayformer MPs done well. Overall I thought the better film toys were really pushing on MP quality. In fact one of the Starscream leader class toys was so good that Takara literally gave it a movie-accurate repaint and sold it as a masterpiece.

G1 MPs are probably the most balanced.

Binaltech and Alternity are 85% car and 15% robot. G1 MPs are around 55:45

Bayformers not sure. To many of them are still Hasbro toy quality, though targeted at adults just like the Cybertronian designs from Fall of Cybertron.

This is frustrating as fuck and makes me want to stop spending $200+ on single toys. Every now and then I go back to the onld habits of buying domestic stuff and imports that get domestic release, or at least lower pricepoint ones. Yeah the two packs were like 50$ each.

The MP cassette bots were good don't get me wrong, but individually they wouldn't look out of place on a 5$ card pack.
At least the hasbro release and the takara reissue coming up had the right idea to just include all 5 of them with Soundwave at not much of an extra cost to the figure.

Shockwave with Cancer

Cancer is approached by Shockwave, who sees great idol potential in the boy and asks him to become one to help improve the image of the Decepticons in the Legends Universe. On the advice of Browning, Cancer realizes that if he becomes famous, he can use the opportunity to fulfill his dream of spreading the word of the Chōryūken dojo and honoring his sensei. He accepts, and is soon singing and dancing before an audience thanks to Shockwave, who acts as his manager and is glad that his plan to provide backup for Megatron's peaceful Decepticon takeover of the world is succeeding.

The concert is suddenly crashed by Skullcruncher, the Decepticon Headmaster faction still being opposed to the use of peaceful methods, and Shockwave swears to defend Cancer just as he used to defend Cybertron. To his surprise, Cancer joins him in the battle by transforming into his armored Headmaster Junior form, revealing that he used to be a Decepticon warrior too! With Cancer manning his gun mode, Shockwave sends Skullcruncher flying with a mighty blast. Afterwards, Cancer tells his manager that he left the Decepticons because he thought they were just a bunch of killers, and Shockwave answers that he supports Megatron's vision of peaceful Decepticons, but worries about his leader being manipulated by evil minds like the Headmasters. The two vow to work together to make the Decepticons a clean and friendly organization... starting with having Cancer sign 300 CDs for his fans.
