New to /toy/, what is the board's opinion on their figures?
Always found them to be really shitty.
>>5887163
Generally mixed to positive. A lot of love for their some recent stuff and any figures of big characters are especially held in high regard. They look a whole lot better than Marvel Legends visually, but a lot of their older figures have such stiff articulation. And the scale is a bit awkward for people who like to mix their lines.

>Hurr Duur, what is a Marvel general?
>How do I use catalog?
>Imma spechial snowflake!
When was the last time you owned one? They've improved drastically in the last year. Sculpt is still king over Legends and Universe, but articulation is steadily catching up. Recent ones like Venom, Black Panther, Carnage (granted, they're all on the same mold) but even Spinny Thor, Ant-Man and the newest Winter Soldier were all stellar
Just watch some reviews and judge for yourself.
Pretty meh about the line.
While the quality of the sculpt and paint are great, they're not really in scale with any of my stuff and they generally have less articulation than Hasbro's figures.
I'd love to see them do "artist series" like DC Collectibles does. I'd pay up more bucks for proper representations of popular artists runs for on team and solo comics.
Humberto Ramos Spider-Man? Would.
Chris Bachelo's XMen? UNF.
Marvel Select Huge Jackedman is one of my favorite figures. My only complaint is the DCUC hip articulation. Three heads, three sets of hands, and a katana for $25 is pretty good though.

>artist series
That would be nice but I doubt they'd ever do it. I'm pretty sure one of the few things that allows Diamond Select to make Marvel figures alongside Hasbro is that they can only do a certain number of figures per year.
>>5887163
Venom is great. Abomination, too.
>>5887196
>ramos spider-man
>bachalo x-men
You and i have similar tastes. I'd also like a Dodson's Cap Marvel and Tradd Moore Ghost Rider
>>5887163
They started off really shitty. But they keep getting better. Pic related is the GOAT
>>5887272
>sculpt and detailing are actually very nice
>the gun still looks like a dull plastic GI Joe accessory
I don't understand.
Juggernaut is my only favorite. They should really stop doing that BAF thing and leave the BIIIIG characters to Select while Legends can just do the regular-sized guys
>>5887411
>Dull
3 seconds of google search will save you a lot of grief, anon.
People assume too much. It has multiple finishes on the weapon alone.
But the figure has shit articulation, to be honest. Not fun to pose.
>>5887455
>now the gun looks okay but the figure does not
I really don't understand.
>>5887579
It's called lighting and camera angles.
And GI Joes guns are actually quite detailed.
Like with most Hasbro products, a little paint goes a long way in showing how expertly sculpted their stuff is.
>>5887163
Rhino, venom, carnage, colossus, & juggernaut are the only worth while figs imo. Everything else ranges from ok to shit.
Better than ML
>>5887720
Sculpt and paint wise, yes. But not in articulation. Especially the early stuff, their practically statues.
The only one I have is Colossus and he's fucking bad ass. They did an excellent job on his sculpt.
How about Anti Venom?
>>5887175
last time i owned one was their awful Deadpool figure and in the store they always have the same ones no matter what toy store I go to so I haven't noticed the jump in articulation quality im hearing about in this thread yet, thought about getting their Ultron figure
Select Thanos is BAE
>>5887172
Generals are cancer.
>>5887904
Is his Top removable?
Doom
>>5887163
I collected them way back when Media Play was still in business (yeah, I'm old). This was either before or right after Marvel Legends started. Anyway, back then, there were two kinds of Marvel Selects, statues with a joint or two and actual action figures. The action figures were beyond anything else we had. The statues, meh, but both came with some pretty decent display pieces. I have Doctor Doom and he had an actual throne to sit on. Plus removable hands, something you didn't really see until Figma/Figuarts took off.
So these days, I think they're totally outclassed by Marvel Legends, unless it's a larger figure like the Hulk. The biggest disappointment for me was AoU Black Widow who just turned out really pale to the point that I preferred the ML version. But at their price point, they are still a decent value because the articulation is fairly standardized and you still get the base pieces that were stripped from ML.
>>5887213
That was thrown out the window thanks to Disney
Trade off is most of the new sets are movie related
>>5887418
>They should really stop doing that BAF thing
BAF things are the bait so people would buy an otherwise pegwarmers made of complete retool.
There's no goddamn justifiable reason to put Onslaught head on Kitty Pryde for example
>>5891038
Yes, it is.
>>5887904
Confirmed...Colossus is one of their best... I think I"m going to order Storm or Gambit next...
>>5894611
>>5894611
So yea
>>5894613
is that your girlfriend
>>5887196
>Tfw no Rags Morales Superman (Why do they keep putting metallic paint on statues of him, that shit only looks good on Lanterns)
>Tfw no Reis Aquaman/Manta
Well, Marvel Select was the first brand of six inch figures i started collecting, but the more Marvel legends and SH Monster Arts figures I got the more and more Marvel Select started to feel inferior. Because well they are, in articulation at least.
I dabble in toy photography and outside of some standard poses, Marvel Select figures dont do me any favors. For anyone on a budget, Marvel Select isnt too bad.. but why not just save some expendible cash an extra couple months to get a quality figure?
>>5887659
huh that shitty fanfic scarlett.

Thanks
