This pose. What the fuck is it called? It's so prevalent and used in so many advert shots for figures in Japan and in mecha art and everything.
What the fuck is it? It's got to have a special name, right because it's not some pose anyone is actually ever going to because it's super uncomfortable.
I believe I've seen that called "S Pose" before. I'm positive that info pic of all the Strike Gundam poses has this one on there.

That didn't really give me anything on searches.

Legs aren't bent back far enough.
I've always either called it the crotch thrust or just the Yamaguchi pose

Let me tell you a spooky tale anon, it'll chill your soul:
Once, there was a world where an anon wondered about a robot pose he saw lots of robots doing. This anon thought he would lose his mind if there was no special name for the pose, so he asked on 4chan. The posters on 4chan could not form a consensus, and thus the pose had no true name. THAT WORLD IS THIS VERY ONE.
Someone did a comparison once, I think it's like the Japanese version of the standard heroic pose. Instead of standing tall with the chest puffed out, it kinda communicates more of a powerful stance.
It might have roots in some of Kanada's animation, but I'm not sure. I know his followers tend to use it a lot. Like Obari and Imaishi.

It certainly has a more masculine tone to it. Instead of the west hero pose of 'look at my chest muscles' it's 'look at my dick'

Anon please spoiler scary stories...

Don't worry, there's probably an obscure japanese abreviation for it. Nippys love their abreviations, they even have one for the W patern made with circles that's found on some mecha (ie. Patlabor)

I consider myself a passing gunpla fan and I find this quite humorous.

No OBARI pose?

I think it's one of the things that he helped popularize, like that sword perspective where it comes out at the camera.

If anything this should be called the Yamaguchi Pose since it's featured on half the toys he's done
