What's the best NGE version of Eva unit 02? The only robot

Might be this. I just got the blue 00 today and it looks like a pretty nice kit for the age. The arms are significantly less crap than I expected and the instructions make it appear to have modern HG articulation. It definitely needs some paint, but if you know how to do that you're golden.

It's not very expensive, either. Amazon has some for $26 shipped and Mandarake only wants $8-$10 before shipping when they actually have one.

I have all of the LMHG kits and can vouch for this too. Love the size, poseability, and accessories. They were the kits that got me into painting. The 02 one is slightly more challenging, since the face needs lots of tiny details (green eyes, whites, orange on the chin)

God, why doesn't Damashii reissue their Eva figs with original colors? I want Unit-00 in non-eyesore colors that doesn't remind me of how badly Anno fucked the franchise in the ass.

Actually, Rebuild just added the horns. Everything else on the head looks the same except for the color placement and the actual face underneath the plating.

Unit-00 was orange in the original. Not yellow. Unit-00 is now as yellow as the fucking sun. The two colors are similar but there is a big difference between them. And that's still not an excuse to not have a figure of Unit-00's most recognized colorscheme.

It's not though. A bit of a deco change and the added horns make it seem that way, but when you actually put them side by side the differences are minor.

For what? The Rebuild figures, or the actual movie which went out of its way to redeco the Evas? If the former, why do you think it's so important that they repaint the movie figures into a color it doesn't actually have? A blue repaint might have some audience as a kind of alt-universe exclusive, but turning the color wheel a millimeter to the left isn't going to make people choose it over the actual movie deco, or even double-dip on the mold.

The eye placement is now completely different. The chin is hooked up versus bein hooked down. Now there's a crown (which you mentioned). The front of the face also takes a inward curve on the Rebuild version, whereas with the original it had a nosebride-like portion and several ridges preventing it from being as smooth. And the angle it's curved at is completely different.
