Monthly Building Challenge:
Your challenge this month is to design a Microfighter for a vehicle that doesn't have one yet. It can be of any property, as long as it has 100 or less pieces, seats 1 minifig, and is cute and chibi. Get swooshing!

Hi /lg/! I'm looking to buy between 10 and 20 minifigs. The twist is that I'm trying to spend less than $1.00 per fig and ideally they would be the exact same guy (same hair, head, torso, legs). I have found several stores on bricklink that have the parts or just complete figures for less than $1.00. Shipping will put me over on all of these so I guess I'm aiming for as close to 20 figures for as close to $20. I have also looked on E-bay and such for bulk lots of random figures, but I'm concerned that most of them seem to include terrible quality knock offs.

Has anyone ever done this before? Is such a thing even possible?

Pic related. It's a bunch of identical figs in a plastic baggy.

why don't you want to use the fenders from either city or speed champions?
CHeck out the simpsons car for a neat brickbuilt technique for fenders that is compact. I don't know if it works with the more in scale speed champions wheels though, i still don't have a lot of those.

>>5792350
Always here taxi-bro
>>
>>5792350
Yes, like that.

I severely underestimated how hard it is to keep good looking proportions (especially when basing a car off a real one) and still have neat stuff like opening doors and an interior other than jumper plates. Plus there's all the different wheel sizes and most parts are designed for the chunky ones that you don't want to use at all if you want your wheels to be flush without fenders.

>>5792355
>why don't you want to use the fenders from either city or speed champions?
I dunno, they just rub be the wrong way and end up taking a huge amount of space.
>>

>I want to make more cars but damn modern 6-wides use way more parts than the classic 4-wides from my childhood.
I know that feel. I'm still thinking in terms of everything being based off the seven-long base with the axles built in and the only SNOT being the one by four overhang plate.

6 wide windshields (and larger!) continue to amaze and astound me.

I feel like getting gud at Lego is 80% copying what people made ten years before you and 20% spending all your disposable income on plastic bricks.
>>
>>5792557
I started off looking at others work and trying to replicate what they did. From there I've played around with changing proportions, adding my own details, and just seeing what works. Don't get discouraged, just keep to it and you'll come up with something original that you can be proud of.
>>
>>5792611
Is there any other way to get good at something? Like, I get that you can't just copy people forever, but 90% of the time you start out improving by copying /learning from other peoples work. I know I did.

>>5792635
I've found that trial and error makes up a large part of improvement, as does repetition. See what works and what doesn't in terms of both overall design and individual part connections, and when you do land upon a design you're satisfied with, keep making similar things until you get a good grasp of things.

The Indy tank mocs all kind of rub me the wrong way. They all get the shape wrong in some way, have no windows or realistic room for the entire crew let alone just three guys in the body and one in the main turret but that's more a problem with the limitations of Lego.

>>5793392
The Lego games one is the only version that I have no problems with but reverse engineering these from the older games is impossible. I don't have the games anymore and would have to do it from youtube walkthroughs and even if I did have the games the weird camera in LI2 makes it impossible to make out any of the finer details.

I wish they could just release LDD files for all Lego game models, they even use LDD for designing them so there really is no reason not to.
>>
>>5793416
They'll never do it. Tanks are too close to modern for them to let through, unless it has a comical filter like the Mighty Micros one.

>>
>>5793501

Not a tank guy, but I do have a few tracked Technic things. At the very least you'll need sprockets at either end to stop the tracks slipping off sideways. I'm looking at an 8043 here which uses 42610 wheel hubs to support the tracks between sprockets, but 2994 fits snugly if they need to be bigger for looks.

Okay, this is neat...I'm kinda curious if it'd be possible to make a variation that uses some toothed bars in place of the flat panels you're using for the track...could result in a launched sawblade spinning like mad.

Has anyone here ever bought from a BL store called "0937 Brick" ?
It's run by a user called "htfighting" and is based in China.

It's the cheapest store I can find a particular minifig I've been chasing... but it's Chinese and hence I'm worried that it could be a bootleg/knock-off.

The store terms say that all minifigs are new and 100% real Lego, his feedback is 100% praise and a few of the comments in the feedback mentioned that its real Lego.

I'm probably just being paranoid, but China is both the spiritual and actual home of fake Lego. And the minifig I'm chasing is US$20~. If I spend that much on a single figure, I want it to be the real thing.

So like I asked, has anyone here ever bought stuff from this store? Is he legit? Are his products legit? Am I just being paranoid? Should I buy from him?

you can get the King's Castle Siege set from 2007 for around $100, and the other sets from the 2007 Castle theme are pretty good

the Kingdoms theme has green dragon knights and red lion knights, haven't tried any of those but there's a cool jousting tournament set

the Knights Kingdom II theme has some different colored armors that remind me of runescape

however i like to be as historically accurate as possible and the blue tabard with the crown on it looks to be the most accurate thing i can find, except for the modern-looking buckle on the belt
