I'm afraid my only source was an anon or two in one of these threads.

That said, in the last thread (or maybe 2 threads back) we did see early CAD for a leader Bonecrusher. So the movies are slowly getting the love from China (I imagine the movies are probably a lot of Chinese fans first encounter with the brand).

>>
>>5766205
>(I imagine the movies are probably a lot of Chinese fans first encounter with the brand).

That is simply not true. A large portion of the popularity of TFs in the PRC (and in the rest of East Asia) is fueled by their popularity and the nostalgia from the 80s. Of course the dynamics for each population is different, but I think it's telling given their nostalgia is grounded much more in g1 (which apparently Hasbro offloaded there free of charge during the 80s) than in later incarnations like RID, BW, Prime or UT.
>>
>>5766271
Thanks for sharing. I honestly had no idea if the older shows ever made it there in the 80s/90s. I naturally knew China has a love for G1 as so much third party stuff is G1, but didn't really know how common it was at large.

Either way, I'm sure the movies brought in a lot of folks too (even if it's far from the majority), it's brought in plenty of Western fans too.
>>
I just got Planet X Summanus, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the screwhole covers are supposed to be used. There's a fair amount of visible screw holes, but they only give you 10 and they only color match the dark grey plastic used for the thighs and head. Am i missing something?
>>
>>5766450
I remember it being a bit of a job to figure them all out. Some might be spares though. I also remember them being a bit brutal to install. IIRC, most of them are in what becomes the robot legs, including the dino mode's front legs.
>>
>>5766459

They're hardly the only one. Robotkingdom is run by the same people that own Perfect Effect, Planet X, KFC, X-Transbots, etc. Planetsteelexpress meanwhile is owned by MMC, who also works with/owns Mechideas and Voodoo Toys.

This is also why neither site sells the stuff from the companies they don't own. There is this big feud going on that probably is also the reason why so much of MMC's stuff got knocked off.

Man, I was expecting good things out of commotus, but this guy is next level. Maybe not 85 bucks of next level, but slick as hell none the less. I'm considering double dipping on spartan next check, as crazy as that feels.

You aren't crazy it's a problem with that version of the mold. Spartan is much better in that regard.
>>
>>5768039
I also got the PE bruticus hands/feet in, and they're pretty disappointing. I mainly got them for the feet, but the balljoints are loose, there isn't enough forward tilt to use them in a proper walking pose, and they don't really peg into the limbs well. Half the time I pick him up one of them stays on the table.

It's nuts that they're the only game in town when so many people are sitting on multiple combiner teams and the stock feet are so useless. You'd think it'd be like selling icewater to people in a desert. How the hell are there a dozen companies playing dinobot bingo, but the only options for proper combiner feet are $35 kits that barely work, and a guy selling stuff that I'm still not convinced actually exists?

Ashura Knights STILL don't have a concrete release date, all the sights have just pushed it back to Q3.

What the fuck, there are video reviews of the set out there already, what's the hold up?

They've got an assload of releases backed up and slated for "july" by what most sites say. The least they could do is give some more info on what they expect the order of release to be. I want to be able to have SOME kind of plan on what to buy first.
>>
>>5769195
the head is probably different to avoid infringment.
While it's tank mode shares a lot of similarities, the robot mode actually does not. First is the different hands, feet, and head, but if you look closer, the entire lower legs have been completely re-engineered, and the shoulder pieces are extremely different, just borrowing the hanging tread gimmick.
The torso also doesn't appear to really make a face either (but perhaps paint will change that) annd of course the forarms are radically different.

To me, this is more of a G1 reinvisioning of a non-pretender Bludgeon.
>>
>>5769284

I honestly wouldn't mind if they pushed them back and released the upcoming Optimus first. Same with the other P6 guy.

I just want that fucking Optimus.
>>
>>5769146
It's pretty solid. I like it a lot. The beast head isn't really crocodilian so much though. Well, maybe ancient, like Postosuchus. Imho, it beats out FP and Hasbro.

You're reaching, brother. Kultur's head is straight-up the Decepticon logo, which I think rules it out any concerns of infringement

We need waifu figures. No, really. It's something that hasn't really been done in TF's before. Everything has always been about nailing a decent transformation/look/robot mode, and we haven't gotten any sexy robot girls or waifubots.

I'd put out that bank if we could get a Daibadi Polynian/MoMo/Figma-esque quality robot waifu that also pulled off a good transformation. Anyone with Quantron and some CW combiners that can post a pic with them together? Combined and a limb-bot from each?

Menasor is probably the worst of the main 4 combiners. The remaining 3 are really good, especially once you add in third party kits
>>
>>5772866
Ah that makes sense I guess. A little bit disappointing seeing as Menasor is my favourite and 3P doesn't seem to want to touch him
>>
>>5772857
It looks similar to Quantron, but everyone on the team is more blocky looking with a shit load more greebles on an overall larger set of toys. It's pretty fucky. idk why anyone would want it desu.
>>
>>5772934

That's not entirely true. There are 2 combiners and one lone motormaster.
>>
>>5772934
>Menasor is my favourite and 3P doesn't seem to want to touch him

If you ignore the FP version, some other new version coming out, that CW-compatible Motormaster semi...
>>
>>5772866
all they need to do is make a new Motormaster that is good and more proportionate. like how he looked in Devastation
>>
>>5772857
I'm only going by reviews here, but from what I've seen it's not a huge QC step up from their Bruticus. Afterburner looks great, Nosecone and Lightspeed are "eh", Scattershot is alright I suppose but makes huge concessions for the combined mode, Strafe looks great in robot mode but total shit in vehicle mode, and the combined mode isn't very solid and looks a mess.

Hilariously enough, Generation Toy's Devastator (GT basically being an offshoot of Warbotron) looks like one of the best Devastators on the market, with pretty good QC, nice aesthetics, solid engineering and not too much unnecessary greebling. Provided I can get hold of him for a not too insane price (preferably not much more than £300) he'll be mine.
>>
You know, I wish TFC would make adapters to let CW torso bots combine with TFC limb-bots. Case in point, CW Silverbolt is great, but the limb-bots kinda suck. Meanwhile, the TFC Aerialbot limbs are awesome but their Silverbolt is fucking awful. CW Silverbolt as the torso with the TFC Aerialbots as limbs would work great IMO.

>>
>>5772806
....I'm unsure, how are their little guys? They seem kinda hit and miss to me. Was their Megatron any good?
>>
>>5773060

Most of their War in Pocket guys are slightly worse than IF's offerings, but still solid enough usually.

Their Megatron had 2 possible issues I recall from watching some reviews: The feet were diecast and if the tolerances were off they could be put on too tightly, meaning you'd twist off the fucking balljoints/break the plastic that held the feet on if you turned them (ha ha fuck), and his left arm was on a slider thingy for transformation and on some (all?) would slide out on it's transformation rail if tilted to the left.

Dunno if either issues were fixed or what. Their Megs is a lil' marvel of simple yet effective engineering otherwise though. Kind of amazing they got a good transformation on a gun Megs at Legends size but other guys can't fucking do it with MP size.

>>5773058
I could be wrong but I think that the TFC Aerialbot limbs are a bit smaller than CW Silverbolt. He'd have a bit of a small torso, yes, but I think it would be just the right size to give him a sort of Obari super robot look, ala Feral Rex. The replacement ratchets might be a necessity though.

Personally I'm satisfied with Shapeshift Inc. Starscream since the WFC/FOC design is what they used in a lot of the IDW comics anyway so he fits in better with Iron Factory, but idk I guess if the DX9 mold is good maybe I'll buy the inevitable Skywarp or something.

Predaking I'm definitely interested in, though. I really like Hulkie. Would have maybe made a little more sense for the sake of shelf balance to do an autobot combiner first? But idk I'm not really complaining.

>>5773060

They're pretty good. I really like the feel of the plastic they use. The designs aren't as good as Iron Factory but really all my complaints about them would just be like that--unfavorable comparisons to Iron Factory. In their own right, they're still good, they just come across as unimpressive when IF is there to compare to.

I wouldn't call their Megatron bad but I also wouldn't recommend it. It has a really impressive gun mode and transformation, but the result is a robot mode that has some issues, including everything that
>>5773071
said, and also the fact that the shoulder articulation is complete crap and he can barely lift his arms out to the side at all cause they hit on the torso.

And again, the reason that I don't recommend it is just cause of Iron Factory haha. IF's designer is making a Megatron for Generation Toy which seems way better for my taste. I like the look of the robot mode sculpt and proportions way more, it solves the shoulder articulation issue, it has a bigger, better looking cannon, etc. The tradeoffs are that the gun mode is worse (but still decent) and the barrel extension appears to be permanently attached (at least we've yet to see it without it) so that's always there as kibble on his back.

Quantron is nice but you have to be down for some of the tolerances and fidgety nature if you like to play and not display. You also have to like the robot modes. I happen to really like 3 out of the 5 and are lukewarm on the other two in robot mode. Their alt modes are fantastic minus the combiner head that just sits out on Scattershot. Until Guardia, Quantron and Giant were the two most super solid combiners out there. The joints are excellent and the limbs aren't heavy keeping them stable. Quantron even has built in non-slip pads on the feet. You can shake him and he won't budge much, if at all. He can hold any sort of stance with his bow on the back or in his hands with both arms supporting it.

The Combiner wars guys in contrast are simple to get from mode to mode but are much more loose but will hold a stance just fine. You have to tighten up the ankles on the PE kit to make sure they don't topple over now that the weakest point moved from trying to get a solid stance to the ankles. Quantron is almost double the weight of Superion with the PE kit here, though the metal in the super bow is a decent chunk of that.

Quantron has incredible range in the arms but doesn't have a ton of play in the knees which is a bummer. He's got a really solid stance to hold the bow. The Shadow Fisher kit a must in my opinion as it A) Makes scattershot not look thin as fuck without the bow on the back both in robot and torso mode, B) Makes the transformation easier, C) makes the waist joint 100% more natural, D) Helps negate the sag the bow had when sitting on the back.

For size Quantron is a little shorter at the head after the PE Kit is put on Superion. About the same height with the regular hand foot guns. The limbs are a half a head shorter than the CW bots. Guardia guys are about the same height.

That would be a terrible Tarn, it just has the same shoulder treads. Iron Factory tends to make pretty accurate versions of IDW designs, just like how this is a really accurate version of the Cybertronian Sludge design from Maximum Dinobots.

Thank you! It's nice to get a really good comparison. So the Quantron limbots are a bit smaller than a deluxe, but that's not too bad. I wish he would hit $250. $290 + whatever that upgrade kit is you say is basically necessary may be a little much.

BBTS page mentions "This item includes all 3 additional replacement upgrade kit parts which will be packaged separately." What are those?
>>
>>5774289

Yeah TFsource had him for $250 and that's where I got him. The SF upgrade kit is $10 for a few latching clips and a new folding cannon arm assembly.

The extra "upgrade" pieces are replacement parts to fix problems with the original molds back from the giftset. Lightspeed had a deformed head balljoint that fucked up his head movement, Scattershot's waist assembly had incorrect gears and was off center from the middle so he never got a straight standing pose, and Nosecone's headlights that are used to form the foot connection didn't tab properly and the leg tended to transform into a car crash when you tried to move it. Your mileage may vary but these issues were common but with the parts they're easy to fix. It's still an inconvenience that shouldn't be there though.
