How come in Japan the Decepticons are named after bad guys from Masked Rider?
>>
Yeah. Big Bad Toy Whores cronies supposedly bought the last bunch of Megatrons. The one guy who helped carry them away was behind their table later, They deny it but they had a lot of them on their table and a bunch stacked behind it.

Tfw was reporting it was 400 but my buddy in line said it was only closer to 50 when they cleaned them out.

Man, this set looks so cool. I love these "team in a box" gift sets. AoE had a few, too.

I know they're stingy about BW homages, but a BW set would be cool, too. Do a Season 1 Maximals set:
>Gen rhinox
Gen rattrap
>Universe dinobot in proper colors
>Cybertron/BWX Optimus Primal, for scale reasons(though the original is a better toy)
>BW Deluxe Cheetor(because no one wants that Universe mold)

And the 07 movie's 10th anniversary is coming up. An Autobots United set would be neat

>ROTF Optimus
>Battle Blades Bumblebee
>Deluxe Jazz, with some of the remolded parts from later remolds like Final battle Jazz's weapons
>ROTF/2010 Deluxe ratchet(for accuracy reasons)
>Voyagers Ironhide(both have their pros and cons. Kinda want the Leader one here but he'd tower over ratchet too much.)

Or a TF devastation set?
>Classics Optimus
>Gen Wheeljack
>Classics Bumblebee
>Universe Sideswipe
>FoC Grimlock

Decepticon set?
>Classics Megatron
>Classics Starscream, Thundercracker, and skywarp
>FoC Shockwave
>WfC Soundwave

Sentinel prime looked like ass but he looks worse here
>>
>>5601848
Yep, there where only less than 100 left on Saturday morning(which means a whopping 750+ sold between Thursday and Friday..and not even a tenth of that has gone on ebay yet..) 4 or 5 people each took up to 10 Megatrons at the beginning of the day, while the line was still long and full of people waiting for their Megatron.

Arcee's deco looks better than the Generations, almost the same as Takara's.

Differences I ca see:
Face is darker pink
Hands aren't fully white
Wheels are black+white hubcaps
Pink sections on the thighs
Still attempting to not have the "panty" crotch, though it looks like it's painted all the way around.
Silver on the head-light section instead of white?
Blue its under the kneecaps looks metalic.

That UM looks nice though, but I already own every other toy in there.

>>
>>5601907
It's ain't. Takara's is more accurate to the red appearances than Hasbro's is to the orange appearances. Doesn't even look like the toy colors.
>>
>>5601910
Honestly? You shouldn't pay more than double deluxe price for a deluxe (except for Tigatron/Ravage, you pay Deluxe retail for them), or double a voyager.

200 seems acceptable for Megatron.
>>
>>5601860
Minimus should have been Wheelie
>>
>>5601888
Good catch. Also can't seem to find Arcee's guns, I don't think they're hidden somewhere else in package either.
>>
>>5601910

Just right now look away at TM3 Megatron's rapey prices and hope they go back down to the prices they were on Friday for the figure.
>>
>>5601910
If you can get Megatron at around $200 at this point, be thankful. I've been following the prices since Thursday and the prices blew up Saturday morning thanks to the great scalping.

Airrazor and Terrorsaur, I'd probably consider $80 a decent price. Maybe closer to $60 for Terrorsaur. The rest will probably sink hard to the $30-80 range after a few weeks, with Tigatron probably dipping to $20. Besides Megatron, terrorsaur, and airazor, I'd say most of this year was a bust.
>>
>>5601910
Expect to pay rape dollar price for TM3 Megatron.

If you can get him at $200-250, get him ASAP because he's destined to be a $500-800 buck figure

Same with CW Ratchet. Customization class figures go for premium, around $400-500. Right now he's going for $150 unpainted so grab him NOW while you can.

The combiner set is going for $400 which is standard. If you can get Tarantulas by himself, grab him because he's the hot ticket item of the set. Tarantulus was going for $100-150 and will probably stabilize for around $100-200 eventually so if you see a $100 one, grab it.

Everyone else in the box set is going for dirt cheap $60-100 but expect that not to last as supply starts to dry up. But I would fully expect them to be $100 figures.

The Reflector bots will probably go for $100-150 for all three but if you only want one, you may have to wait for people to start breaking up their sets for individual sale.
>>
>>5601864
Man, I'd have been SO fucking pissed off seeing that happen. I'd have just walked off the fucking line, that was the only figure worth buying. If you're doing a Beast Wars character, I would want a figure that actually, you know, has a goddamn BEAST mode.

Some one needs to take the heads and recast them just to fuck with the market. If I could get my hands on a Megatron I'd duplicate then head then resell the toy and replace the head on my old Gigatron.
>>
>>5601942
Yeah, no one's going to fuck up the head on a $500 figure. Your best hope is to take a decent Beast Megatron head and resize it, maybe the BWX Megatron, or the 10th anniversary Ultra remold. Granted you'd still have to paint it and the Gigatron mold(though honestly Gigatron's purple fits BW Megatron already.)

>>
>>5601954
>Hell, people pay $500+ for G1 bricks

People are retarded. The trick for collecting is never to fall for stupid shit like these con exclusives and never pay more than you're comfortable with for anything. There will be other toys, in time.
>>
>>5601952
When the toy was originally pitched, it was supposed to be Beast Machines Megatron reborn, so TM3. Then FP got stupid and made it Megatron BEFORE Beast wars, and the body is called "tri-materium 3" armor. Nothing to actually do with Transmetals at all.
>>
>>5601969

Now get me a Deluxe scale Clampdown so I can have two stupid ass retarded crustacean bots on my shelf.
>>
>>5601970
At this rate, I doubt we'll see something like this for BW again. too busy with G1 homages. Even if we get an MP Beast Megatron, it'll probably be the season 1 body yet again, which I don't like as much.

So basically the money I save on not buying CW or TR goes to stuff like this.

Oh, wow. That's a bit worse than I thought it'd be.
>>
>>5601993
I have CW Hound and I think he's great. He should be shelf warming at your local store right now so he'll be a decent price compared to a 2nd hand chug Hound, but that one looks good too, so it really depends on what it is you want most.
>>
>>5601993
Honestly I think Universe Hound is one of the most overrated figures ever. It helped push the "It must look like G1, and if it looks like G1 lets overlook any flaws" fetish that annoys me. Upper arms are weird and stubby, same with upper thighs that are barely there. Basically kill all usable articulation. Te only think I think it does particularly well is the ankle tilts.

He's basically the Classics Starscream of Universe. So if you liked that, too, guess your taste is the opposite of mine, so go for it.

>>

>Yeah but look at that and try to justify $200
I can't help but to agree with this. I've been collecting for almost 15 years now, and I think it's because I've been doing this for so long that I've become REALLY selective.

I wanted to like that Megatron, and I've been dreaming about putting that figure in my collection since the concept was leaked almost over a decade ago.

But then I look at the figure, and then see that people are asking over 200 bucks for it, and I just can't justify it. The red plastic looks like ass, they haven't bothered to paint the dragon's eyes, and where in the world would it fit in my collection? I already have TrU Season 1 Megatron, and TM2 Megatron is already an awesome (and WAY more affordable) figure in it's own right.

I just can't see myself paying more than $100 for this thing.
>>
>>5601993

I'm so mad. I had a middleman, but I didn't have the brains to calculate whether I needed to secure a non-Minicon package to get the souvenir {which still would have meant being stuck with an undesirable boxed set I'd have to flip}. I've been collecting for years and yet somehow I didn't see this coming. I only saw from the quantity that I should grab one, which is why I called my middleman. I am so fucked now. I give up on this one.
I remember with MotUC Shadow Weaver I was initially pissed and decided I wouldn't pay, but relented and paid a local person a high but relatively decent market price that ended up going even higher, so I still got a good deal.
but with this, I have no chance at all. Between getting it at cost and paying a 5x mark-up was a thin line I tripped over.
I also missed out on the Junkion 3-pack, which had the exact same situation happen on Saturday, and I managed to get one for $150 later at TFCon. I just don't see that happening for Megatron.

What a huge fuck-you this last year is to us. I really wish the worst to Brian Savage. I feel like capitalistic greed is just growing with no consequence. I really wanted that to change.
>>
>>5601940
I agree with that for everything but Megatron.
The Reflector bots were made in such a large quantity that no G1 love will overcome this very strange non-G1 redesign. I also think a few people won't bother with having all 3 despite the cartoon look requiring that. I see them being cheap.
The box set is shit, and Tarantulas's head is doughy so no matter how much people wanted him before, he'll be less desirable now.

>>5601947
You don't have to fuck it up to recast it.

Some bootleggers need to get on this figure ASAP. Considering how cheaply they can make the figures, they could sell it at it's original price and still rake in profit while people would be so willing to pay that price compared to market price of an original. Look at the Shattered Glass Prime and Hot Rod, both bootlegged.
>>
>>5602087
>Universe Ironhide and Ratchet are the worst figures in all of Classics.

Nope. That's Galvatron. People exaggerate how bad Ratchet and Ironhide are. They're still better than a generic shit that doesn't even look like the character.
>>
>>5601895
those were evoluders, written in kana with an イ instead of the エ you see for gaogaigar final!gai.
>>
>>5602117
See, the thing with Galvatron is he LOOKS fine. If you don't touch him, you don't know how bad of a toy it is. It's not particularly Galvatron looking, but it's not a shit design, looks wise.

Ratchet and Ironhide on the other hand look terrible, transform terrible, have terrible weapons and terrible engineering. They're terrible in absolutely every single regard. Galvatron sucks too, but at least he doesn't look absolutely terrible.
>>
>>5602101

Because Savage gets more money if they sell out, and then are scalped later, right? Maybe if you want to be sure to get everything, save up and go to the convention yourself or be sure to ask your toy mule to pick up everything they can.

P.S. - I'm at Botcon right now, suck it.
>>
>>5602130
How does it smell?
>>
>>5601955
In the original script, Ultra Magnus was quartered- aka ripped in four pieces by cables extending from the sweeps. Transformers have been shown to survive being pulled apart.

What made it into the final movie is strange, as being blown to pieces doesn't make much sense in terms of survivability.

I guess you can pretend there was a white Prime inside there all along and that section of him survived in an offline state...

Did they ever make toys of those robot sluts from GGG Final other than the model kits that cannot transform or combine?
>>
>>5602130
If it takes him longer to sell them he will get less money because he can't reinvest the money sooner, so it's in his best interest to allow a scalper to buy up the remaining stock.
He could do even better if he got profits from the scalping by pretending someone else is selling them. I believe Mattel is accused of doing that with MotUC.
I had the money, I asked my middleman to get them. I didn't realize he would wait until Saturday morning to try and buy one though, as I thought the Minicon package his son was under would be able to buy them and I didn't think to ask him. I just assumed. I'm not even sure if they can't or if he just thought he couldn't.

They look fine though. They look like Ironhide and Ratchet. Is it because they're fat? That's what Ironhide and Ratchet look like.

>transform terrible
the transformation is more fun than the exact same transformation every cw toy has. And I like the weapon because it actually STORES somewhere unlike the CW shit that just pegs on top of the vehicle mode. And it's cool that it transforms between a melee weapon and a ranged weapon instead of just one piece of plastic like we get now.

I really want to like this mold. It actually has great articulation in beast mode unlike Alpha Trion, and looks decent in robot mode too. It seems to have a 3-step "stand him up and detach his tail for a weapon" transformation like every other beastformer, but I can overlook that...

But that fucking doghead kibble man. It's obviously just a giant solid thing on a hinge. You can tell how the art tried to hide it behind the shoulders too. I can already imagine how it will look in robot mode. The beast hands and feet are really obvious in robot mode too.

But I can overlook all those things. What I CAN'T forgive is that this thing doesn't have opening jaws. Even RID Quillfire has jaw articulation! I'm pretty sure the wolfhead doesn't have any articulation in the neck either, since the only kind of swivel it has room for wouldn't be on the right axis.

Not a horrible toy, but it really feels more like an upscaled legends.

Ultra Magnus was also put back together on Junkion right after he got blown up. I figured it was some special technique the Junkions had that could revive a recently demolished robot. Kinda makes sense when you consider everyone there is made from junk

It probably only works on recently destroyed robots, as Wreck-Gar tried to revive Optimus but couldn't

Rip out the headmaster ridealong chest, shove in a combiner peg, swap the animal heads/feet as needed for Headstrong/Rampage/whatever the fuck the other guy is named, and then make a bird mold for Divebomb.

THEN they could've remolded this shit for Abominus to boot.

the CW Rook/Swindle/Hound mold is one of the best molds in the line.

>>

Bisk is pretty smart. I give you Clampdown. If we could get that submarine octopus, oooooooh.
>>
>>5602253
He's more fun than he looks. You can change his expressions and there's quite a few poses you can get. More than youd expect.
>>
>>5602242
I guess there's a slight chance the jaws have a hinge on the inside, but it really doesn't look like that to me. If it does turn out to have opening jaws, I'd gladly eat my words and enjoy the toy.

>>5602247
>These are some really petty issues.
I guess they might be. But for a beast former with such a simplified transformation, You kinda wish they took an extra step to make the beast form more worthwhile.

One other thing. This thing could've really used a swivel under the shoulders and hips. I dunno why they would omit that since every other deluxe has those things, and I'm pretty sure this one is already on the low side of parts count. Thought it does look like it might have a waist joint even thought it would be very limited by beast mode kibble.
>>
>>5602251
The jets could probably be easily remolded into birds.
>>
>>5602259
I'm pretty sure that if it has a jaw joint that itd be one of those held in by friction that can pop out with too much pressure. I'm not saying he for sure has jaw articulation just saying we have no way of knowing yet.
>>
>>5602259
>This thing could've really used a swivel under the shoulders and hips.
Look at his left arm. That looks like a swivel in the bicep if that's what you're looking for.
>>
>>5602259
>Thought it does look like it might have a waist joint
There's no "looks like." you can clearly see that it does.
>>
>>5602053

As long as it's someplace like TRU or Target I can accept that.
>>
>>5602265
I'm looking at the beast form which has a bigger picture, and it looks more like one solid piece to me.

I hope I'm wrong. Because with no wrist joint and no swivel at all in the arm, this thing is gonna be pretty crappy at posing with that sword.

>>

>>

>>5602306
I am so excited. This hits all the sweet spots. Cool characters that I have nostalgia for, most of whom haven't had mass-released updates.

Tons of little extra heads/little dudes, with room for those dudes to ride on the vehicles. In cockpits, in turrets (the opening turret on Hardhead's tank gun is so awesome), and of course with the base modes and the titan master vehicles.

So much interchangeability. And so much stuff you can actually do with them all.

I am just imagining the manchild fun I'm going to have when tiny Apeface rockets up to Astrotrain, turns into monkey mode, rips Darkmoon off of Astrotrain's body, and then takes over Astrotrain.

How are we not all unreasonably excited? Headmasters that look great, smaller toys that interact with them, and then big base Transformers, too.

This is everything I want. But I grew up on headmasters and micromasters.
>>
>>5602323
It removes Ultra Magnus from the set, though.

>>

I like a ton of these things, but I do have one issue and that was changing the guys who had Targetmasters into Headmasters.

>>
>>5602341
I want Horri-Bull and Nightbeat and Squeezeplay as full figures. But getting those little ones is fun, too. I'm not super worried about it.

And I never think "targetmaster" when I think of Blurr or Scourge, even though they had Targetmaster releases. The cool thing about them being Headmasters is you can just put the head on, put them on a shelf, and never think of it again.

Or enjoy the gimmick when you play with them.

I'm a little bummed PM Optimus is a headmaster, but it doesn't ruin the toy for me or anything.
>>
>>5602346
>I'm a little bummed PM Optimus is a headmaster, but it doesn't ruin the toy for me or anything.

Powermasters being Headmasters doesn't bother, it's not like their gimmick was great or anything. I don't like PM Prime regardless, but that not one of those reasons.

At least Fangry has a shot at being made since it looks like you can make him out of Mindwipe.

Though, I do want a new Squeezeplay badly, since he was the first Transformer I ever got.

It's nice to see that they've maintained the articulation standard they set for Combiner Wars. Plenty of these deluxes have waist swivels when possible, everyone has bicep and thigh swivels, and a few of them even have useful wrist articulation! Very pleasing to see.

My main gripes are:

-The really noticeable hollow arms and the trailer kibble also on the arm. Having the trailer be a separate piece to cover the hollow bits would have been fine.
-The cab looks terrible
-Awful PM chest homage
-Wrong guns
-Cab doesn't turn into a tiny Optimus (I can live with that, but I had to throw it in here)

The head also looks weird, but I'll at least wait for it to show up before I judge it.
>>
>>5602356
I fucking love Squeezeplay, too. So I'm with you there.

PM Prime was the Optimus I grew up with, so I am going to buy him no matter what. Some of the design choices (hollow arms, the big gray planks attached to the arms, the weird chest armor, the reused Magnus guns) aren't my favorite, but I really liked CW UM. So I'm sure I'll love this one too once I have it in hand.

Goddamn it feels good to be a headmaster fan.

I only had a few as a kid, maybe four or five but only like two or three heads and one had a broken arm. I was too young to take care of my shit properly in the 80's.

But holy shit these new Transformer lines are toyetic as fuck. The cobiners, the new headmasters, Fort Max. It's like an 80's revival.

You got headmasters and tiny head robots and a big cityformer playset that turns into a giant robot and shit. This is how you do toys.

I wish I werent so poor right now. I don't even have a combiner team atm.
>>
>>5602438
I grew up without being able to experience any of the original Headmasters, but I fucking loved the concept of little robots that became heads and guns for bigger ones. So now that it's a line-wise gimmick rather than just assigned to a specific wave, I feel pretty damn good about it all.

Corey Burton didn't come back though, which sucks.

It sucks more because in this game you can get the characters to say their original toy quotes. Hearing Burton say "Clarity of thought before rashness of action" would have been choice

Great game though, definitely buy it. It's short, but its cheaper than the average game so it balances out

Of the deluxe headmasters, only Chromedome of the Autobots is in contention. Meanwhile for the Decepticons Mindwipe is an instaget but Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher will depend on reviews.

I also need to beef up my Decepticon forces so Galvatron is likely. Astrotrain looks great in robot mode, but garbage in train and really flat in shuttle mode.

I'm considering Alpha Trion just because I don't have a figure for him yet, and his robot mode is pretty solid.

To those bitching about titan returns blurr having a parts forming shield, while not animation accurate it is toy g1 accuracy, something that carries to the legends toy from takara before they "save" you

>disclaimer-I've only skimmed the thread and saw some talk

BUT one thing that does concern me as its something I don't have, brainstorm, seeing as he's a retool of TR Blurr, that front section isn't meant to come off right, or is it?

I do hope for takara's they retool the guns to be removable, that said if accurate its fine I guess, I only know the generations voyager brainstorm's front section was intergrated into the transaction

>disclaimer-I saw it via emgo's reviews and feel asleep half way but pretty sure I didn't hear anything about shields being formed
>>
>>5602684
The bitching was about Brainstorm; who, by virtue of sharing tooling with Blurr, also has a detachable front section.

While they are removable, the front sections of both toys are actually hinged on the figures, so the piece only separates if you want it to. So if there's anything to complain about on TR Brainstorm, it's not partsforming.

The Rescue Bots Mini-Cons are compatible with most Transformers via their 5mm pegs. However, they don't have the standard Powerlinx port that Armada Mini-Cons have. The RID Mini-Cons don't have Powerlinx ports either, for that matter.

If you want a quick way to amass compatible Mini-Cons, try looking for the Mini-Con Assault Team from two years ago. Some places here still have them, and marked down too.

Feel free to talk about your Philippine finds again if you do; it's fun to see how an outsider experiences the toy market here.

Also, I should let you know that the Powerlinx peg that Starscream and Megatron have are the same size as the standard weapon peg. That means anything with the 5mm hole will work on those things.

Combiner Wars Rook has a handfoot gun with a hole right in the palm, and the Swindle/Hound retool also has a compatible hole in their smaller weapon. (If you're particularly silly, you can jam the whole figure onto that peg if you want!)
