I absolutely adore the "mechanical beast" style g1 used for animal transformers. This includes everything from the Dinobots to the Seacons. It meshes so much better than the organic animal/mechanical robot thing that BW did, even though they were cool, too.

Anyway, I just got this guy in today. It's actually my first time buying the mold, and I was prepared to be unimpressed, but he's actually pretty excellent. Joints are tight, QC is good, and a lot of the issues I thought I would have with him from pictures don't really bother me in hand. Probably not worth the stupid import price, but TC has always been my favorite. Now I'm thirsty for more MP 'cons.

Well, I saw all the Combaticons at Wal-Mart today. Ended up passing on them.

Normally I buy the Hasbro versions of figures, since the increased cost of Takara versions just isn't worth it. This time, though, I feel like the Takara set is going to be a better value.

At the time I bought Defensor and Takara announced theirs, nobody was expecting them to make a Groove. Now that there's that precedent, though, its almost certainly going to happen with Blast Off too. I don't hate Blast Off being a jet, but his head lacking a facemask was just too much.

But the biggest issue scaring me off is the design problems with Brawl: I don't like when Transformers are unable to hold a mode.

Today I went to a local toy shop and found a case of a bunch of of Transformers throughout the years.

Some were in their boxes, i.e.; a Takara Beast Hunters Shockwave, and some weren't, i.e.; G1 Omega Supreme.

A lot of them were complete, but a few weren't.

I came across the purple Re-Colored Shockwave from animated and they were selling him for 15$. I got him.

He was complete and all, but just very dusty.

Did I get a deal?
