***READ THE GUIDE****

For those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Gift has been bought for Norman in OK.
>>
>>5326850
Does that NJ address have a very forest-y name for the city? If so that's me! And it's good I posted and saved you from writing down the wrong address.

Your gift is currently being shipped to my house and it will arrive on Friday, then I'll throw in my extras and it will be on its way to you this weekend. If all goes as planned it should get to you some time next week. I'm also wrapping the gift inside the box so you can open it and put it under the tree if you like.

Did you wrap mine? If so I'll take it out of the box.

What's the biggest piece you've lost /toy/?

I have somehow lost the whole fucking FOOT for my RG Zaku. Not just the inner skeleton bit, but the whole "loafer" so to speak. Annoying as hell because it's so damn big compared to all the itty bitty parts that I can manage to keep track of.

Back to the stash it goes. And another kit will be started and probably end up the same.
>>
>>5326974
That only happens to me if I put a part together and then realize I missed a step and forget to put a piece that was meant to be inside it, in.

I got so pissed off the part I had to open up cracked, and after that I stored the whole thing away and I haven't touched it since, probably won't touch it again.

>>
>>5327029
The face is cast out of resin, and I will do a run through of the less when it is done. I may have found a cheap solution, but it will require a base be made to hide some stuff and the model will probably be locked in place.
>>
Hey guys, I know a while back someone was asking about a new group build and I had a thought. The most popular group build by far was the the Titans colors group build, so I figured we could do another colors build, but this time everyone can vote on them.

I was thinking of leaving the poll up for a few weeks, seeing what the top three are, then holding a vote again. Anyway, here's the form if anyone is interested.

>>
>>5327075
Why don't you give choices or choose a bunch of predetermined themes to vote on? Open ended polling never works well, you'll just get a mishmash of colors

Thanks. I still haven't decided how far I'll take the effects. I'll probably have a conservative amount of damage on the rest of the kit. >>
>>5327383
If it's for advice then post it. We can look at the texture and then let you know to use more thinner/less thinner and check your brushstrokes. It also matters what paint and brush you use, since the paint brand may determine how thin it should be. Even if it feels annoying, it is always worth the bitching if it makes you a better builder, right?

So I just ordered this puppy as a christmas present to myself (since I can't find a Raiden kit for a reasonable price for the life of me). I'm a pretty new to gunpla, but hobbyist type stuff isn't really new to me either (I've only built a RG Wing Gundam Zero EW so far so I know how to clean nubs, tighten joints, etc. the basics).

What can I expect with this kit? I'm thinking to go balls to the walls with this one since Virtual On has always been a favourite of mine (already got a iwata airbrush and have a compressor lying around in the garage, I intend to paint it). I also want to wire up an LED system and try get a pulsing/fading effect like in the video game (I have loads of electronics experience so this will be a breeze).

Practice tons on spoons before painting. Maybe another kit or two, as even spoons won't let you fully tune yourself into how paint reacts to the way parts are shaped:

Just straight up cheapo Americana brand acrylic and water. The key is starting the strokes vertical letting that dry then doing horizontal strokes and finishing it off trying to get everything smoothed out.

be sure to wash your brush in between dipping back into color to keep the brush at a proper moisture level and to keep it clean

FL anon reporting in. This came in the mail today. Not sure if it is actually the second Secret Santa item though. Did you send accessories, by any chance? It feels ridiculously light inside and there isn't a box in there for sure. I ordered some weaponry a few weeks back so this may be them, but want to not open it if it actually is for SS.

The fact that the box is large and there is a label saying "Gift Inside" and "Ladies and Gentlemen" is odd. I ordered my parts from an Amazon account called Santa Trading Japan.

Did the restock of Yamato Cosmo Reverse get pushed back? HLJ never filled that order but I got AGE-FX and Zaku F200 just fine
>>
>>5329093
I'm going to try and be more conservative with the damage on the rest of the kit. Less is more with these things.

I'm debating a few different damage configurations. I'm definitely going to have one of the arms, probably the right arm, partially destroyed, and bleeding more of the ghost material, which will also be backlit.

I'm considering putting another face in a large gash on the ball midsection, or just having more of the ghost fire trailin out of it.

Too much effects and it is gaudy. Too much overall damage and it gets too busy and doesn't feel like real battle damage. The damage this is coming out of on the upper torso and head is intended to be the kill shot that took it down initially, wouldn't make sense that it got blasted too much aside from that.

I'm going to repaint and weather the whole kit, too. Make it nice and dirty.
>>
>>5329138
You should have the chestball look like the pilot is trying to get out or screaming like musashi/benkei melting
>>
>>5329145
I've also got to sculpt a base that will hide the control box for the LEDs.

That I haven't planned out as much, and could end up being more complicated than the kit.

I really haven't settled on what I'm going to do for that at all.

Nothing Yamato this month on the chart. HLJ might've run out fulfilling Yamato Cosmo Reverse orders before they got to yours. Happened to me with the F2000 because I made my backorder on the 14th, but they got another shipment in or something and invoiced me for it. HobbySearch has some in stock if you want to get it from there, but you can also just keep your backorder on HLJ and see if they manage to scrounge up one for you, or wait until Bandai does another run -- if it gets to that point you'll likely be pretty high on their priority list and almost certainly get it fulfilled.
>>
>>5329162
I sincerely hope their package doesn't get bounced to the post office, because then they'll require an ID to pick up their package.

Hopefully explaining the situation and why their last name is suddenly Smith will be enough to clear things up.
>>

>I sincerely hope their package doesn't get bounced to the post office, because then they'll require an ID to pick up their package.

Depends what their canadapost office is like. I get enough stuff shipped to me that I have to go and pick up that the guys there know who I am, and they don't bother asking for ID anymore.
>>
>>5329222
True. I went to a tiny standalone Canada Post office (and that's not very common, they're usually in a Shoppers or something) for years and the lady there would ID me every time, despite being there quite often.

My post person's real cool though, she knows that if there's a box from Japan or the box has the word "toy" or "model" on it, it's gotta be mine.

I magically lost this one piece and it's for a gift that I've been working on. If someone can send the actual piece it'd be really appreciated.

Pic related is what I mean.

So how long should I wait before applying masking over acrylic paint? Wanted to do some slightly more complex painting than just solid colours per piece, but I don't want to fuck up and peel my layers of paint off.

At least 24 hours, preferably longer if you don't want to risk the paint job.

How can I keep my paint bottle lids from getting stuck? Whenever I go to open my paints I can never get them open without some kind of tool.
>>
>>5330153
looking through all of them, none of them would be a proper fit. I just really need that specific piece. I guess I could take off the other one and replace it with regular thrusters though.

>>5330170
Quit being such a pussy.

Do you even lift?
>>
>>5330173
Oh that sucks man.
>>
>>5330170
Most likely some paint is getting into the cap grooves and drying. Used to happen to my tamiya jars. Just wipe them off with a napkin or paper towel before putting the lid back on.

IF anyone has the lighting gundam and the old HG zeta, would you be able to compare the leg verniers on the lightning to the ones on the zeta to see if they'd fit in the same peg slot?
I doubt anyone could do that and I doubt even more that it'd work, though.

I haven't heard anything from my partner. I'm beginning to become a tiny bit worried myself. But hey, maybe they're busy and haven't had time to post.
