>everything gone except for the same 2 Silverbolts that have been sitting there for months, no one likes Silverbolt it seems

Ah well. I don't care enough about Alpha Bravo to actually buy him online, would have been nice to nab him just to "complete" Superion 2: Electric Boogaloo.
>>
>>5320187
Very brave, going to Walmart this time of year.
>>
>>5320191

Where I live you have to go to Walmart. It's the only shopping centers and grocers around. So I make it a habit now to just check out the toy section in between nabbing food.

Also, are any of those clear, claw-hand figure stands any good? Like those Tamashii ones or whatever, does anyone know? Would they support a Voyager figure? Deluxes? Was thinking of ordering a few sometime in the future just to display some jet/helicopter/flying figures a bit better. It does look rather unimpressive to have a jet just sitting on the ground.

What issues? The only actual issue I'm aware of is Brawl's shitty hinge-waist.

The only other issue is people whining that Blast Off is a jet, which isn't an actual issue with the figures in terms of quality, it's one of aesthetics.

Yup Animated Voyager Megatron for the legs. AVM is one very shitty toy, but his parts are very fun to use. As for the arms, DOTM Voyager Soundwave and ROTF "power attacker" Longhaul gave their parts. The head directly come from a Kreo set.

That mold is my favorite to customise. Mainly because the legs and arms are not really part of the latmode, making them easy to swap them out for other things.

For those who don't know me allow me to be a bit lazy and linking to my other customs based on that mold.

So I got Legends Skywarp today. First time with the mold. He's pretty hella, but I prefer Thundercracker's colors. I really, really like what they did with the nullrays- they're both 3mm and 5mm compatible! Unfortunately the only 3mm compatible guy I have is Legends Blazemaster...

TFs are actually the only reason Brave , save GGG, can never be in anything again. Every single other show has at least one Transformers mold in some capacity in the series, and therefore minor liscence with Hasbro cause problems.
Beyond depressing that we'll never ever see any of those shows in SRW or any likewise game besides that one PSX game. Really wish that at least Takara would remember they made an Exkaiser MP and maybe make others. Would kill for a Da-Garn or Golden MP...

I'm sure Takara does want to do more Brave stuff, too; hence why a lot of their Japanese original TF stuff emulates it. But the legal minefield of Brave works two-ways. They likely don't want to make merchandise that'd partially benefit one of their competitors, bandai. I think the Diaclone reboot might be one of their go-arounds of doing Brave-style mecha without Sunrise.

>Transformers vs Mazinger Z
Turns out that Mycenae and it's Mechanical Beasts are really ancient Destrons. Can Kabuto Kouji and the Cybertrons protect Japan and the Photon Power Institute against the combined forces of Dr. Hell and Megatron? And what is Hell King Galvatron?!?

>Transformers vs Getter Robo
To survive a burst of cosmic radiation, a species of alien robots who had settled on Earth combined organic materials with their robot structure. Millions of years later, the Saotome Institute mobilizes the Getter Robo to fight the mysterious Destron cyborgs. But what role do the seemingly helpful Cybertrons have in this conflict? What is the "Unicron" that Professor Saotome discovered and what does it have to do with the Getter Rays?

I wish they weren't so expensive and hard to find...

I really want the original toys of the symmetrical docking guys from GaoGaiGar, but they're like $100 a pop...

On the bright side, I bought the old "Galaxy Defender" kos of HyoRyu and EnRyu together for ~$25 until I can afford the real guys. The plastic quality is decent but the tolerances kinda suck. I fixed some of the floppy joints, but the ladder/crane parts are a bitch to attach in vehicle and combined mode. Especially on the combined mode. They fall off really easily.

Can he be used as a form of skates without anything being crushed much like rook in apc mode?
>>
>>5321358
Not yet, but yes he can be a shoe, so does Brawl, unfortunately they have different height in altmode, so you'll have to use 2 Swindles or 2 Brawls.
>>
>>5321371
>so does brawl

Awesome, more options, might get swindle or hound instead.

Unless they make another retool of brawl that isn't an exclusive I don't think tank feet would work if they're the same

Well there's the running change on Brawl's color, early versions are dark olive/brownish and later versions will have the brighter green "classic" color.

Other way around. Early versions are olive drab green that doesn't match the promo art for the green Brawl, later versions will be the full brown color.

The Tamashii Stage Act 5 come in sets of three (bases, arms, claws, other claws.) Got a pack for the wife who has Sky-Byte on one base with two arms (one peg and one claw), and First Edition Starscream on the other (claw). Since Starscream isn't positively engaged he can rock a bit, but they're otherwise both stable. Both are in vehicle mode at this time. Haven't experimented with them, but others have noted that the screws can be tightened to handle heavier loads. As they're under $20 a set it's definitely worth trying.
>>
>>5321405
They've spoiled me on a lot of toys because most of the time they feel like a new experience. Where as humanoid figures all start to feel like the same after a while.

Most likely. Haven't experimented much. Note that the whole set is modular. You can use an arm (peg end, around 3mm) by itself, or with a claw, or the second type of claw. There are also extender pieces (socket in each end) and connectors that let you lock bases together.

Attached a bad picture, but it was the best I could find right now. The Act 5 is just one of several designs. There are plenty from which to choose.
>>
>>5321462

People suggested Act 5 to me since it's supposedly for the bigger figures due to it's size/shape of the bottom plate that holds the rod.
>>
>>5321471
They seem quite sturdy. After holding a Voyager class shark for some months, I have no complaints. It would take all three arms, and probably multiple bases locked together for stability, but I'd be surprised if an Act 5 set couldn't hold Unicron, at least for a short period.
>>
>>5321426
No. I haven't spent a penny on CW shit. Mostly talking about MPs and older stuff.

I actually have to thank CW. It helped me save a lot of money that I redirected toward just buying more MP figures I had skipped over because they were just repaints or retools. If I'm gonna shell out for retools, it may as well be of a figure that's already fucking excellent. I ended up buying and enjoying some figures I probably would have just let pass me by, like Smokescreen and G2 Sideswipe.
>>
>>5321495

Guess I'll look into getting some Act 5's. 3 to a pack seems like a decent price, and they don't seem to be too pricey on the places I've looked, around $15-20 per box of them.

>>5321426

Not the same Anon, but the last Transformers I owned were G1 stuff as a kid. They were, for the most part, big bricks of die cast and plastic, with little articulation beyond what was needed to transform, and usually just the arms could move up/down. Coming from that into the Combiner Wars stuff seems amazing, at least to my limited experience. I'd have went off the wall as a kid if I got toys like the CW ones now, in the 80's and early 90's.
>>

I want someone to explain to me something about Bruticus and the combaticons. They are arguably one of the best combiner teams and regarded to have excellent strategy. Especially they're one of the few teams that can be ready for any combat-based situation.

>Vortex provides air support
>Blast Off provides orbital strikes, or in the case of his new form, provides air strikes
>Swindle and Brawl are both ground combat
>Onslaught is anti-aircraft

Compare that to the Stunticons, or the Arielbots, who only can fit one thing. The Protectabots are their only counter, but they're rescue vehicles and aren't best suited for combat. On top of that, unlike the Stunticons, they don't hate each other, and work very well as a team.

So why is Bruticus one of the dumbest combiners? If anything, shouldn't the minds merge into something very strategy based and become one of the more intelligent combiners?
>>
>>5322461
It's a figure of speech you idiot. About how you just figure Hasbro to be at their absolute worst for a production error which quite possibly will be fixed as shown by how they've done so before.

>>5322462
Yes, of course it's the same mold, but they could have slightly changed something about that in order to fix it so that it'd transform better. Obviously if they're displaying it like that in promo shots, they must have done something differently, especially since that is the side with the production stamp. Doesn't that also show that they're at least aware of the problem?

>>
>>5322477

IIRC the Stunticon's were made to deal with the Autobots ground superiority. Arielbots, same deal, made to deal with the Decepticons air superiority. So it wasn't a problem that they were so focused, they were supposed to be because they were filling in the ranks to cover weaknesses.

Bruticus is somewhat dumb because no Decepticon combiners truly work well. All of them are plagued with problems except maybe Predaking. The Autobot combiners traditionally seem to have less overall problems, but still aren't perfect.
>>
>>5322477
Yeah, it's weird. Wasn't there some version of Bruticus that was basically "Onslaught: Super Mode" that made use of the full potential of Scramble Power?
>>
>>5322510
>All of them are plagued with problems except maybe Predaking.
I don't think Devastator has really any major problems either. I know Menasor has the issue of the fact he can barely function because everyone hates Motormaster, Abominus is just a monster, and Piranacron is too good of a combiner that he needed to have an automatic deactivation timer or else he'd just keep hunting.
>>
>>5322510
I think the Autobot combiners each have their number of issues as well:
>Superion is a glass cannon
>Defensor cares too much about humans and doesn't fight much

Bruticus is dumb in the sense that he has no creative thought or initiative. He can follow orders, but he can't improvise or strategize.

And that's really a common enough theme among the gestalts. Superion has the same issue, actually.

And besides, none of them are as rock stupid as Abominus. Trivia: He has a tech spec Intelligence stat of 1. No other transformer in the 30 years of the franchise has ever had a 1. Not even the non-sentient drones. Abominus is THAT dumb.
>>
>>5322528
>Defensor cares too much about humans and doesn't fight much

>>5322529

>>
>>5322529
I have personal headcanons for a few of the combiners, as some are pretty boring character-wise:
>Bruticus is basically a powered up onslaught that constantly reconfigures his limbs depending on the situation
>Superion is basically every fast "sweeper" in competitive Pokemon
>Menasor's high power comes from his rage, while Abominus is the strongest of all the combiners, but incredibly dumb at the cost

And that's what I find odd. The Combaticons are among the most strategic Cybertronians. With the exception of brawl, all of them have very high intelligence readouts.

>Onslaught - 8
>Blast Off - 8
>Swindle - 9
>Vortex - 9
>Brawl - 2

Unless Brawl brings it all down.
>>
>>5322519

IIRC Devastator's problem is he has major weak points that when struck force him to decombine?

Plus he's one of the weakest overall combiners since he was the first, others had improvements (usually at the cost of intelligence).
>>

It usually only takes one to bring down a team. When the Seacons let Nautilator be a limb, Piranacon's effectiveness is diminished which is why they make him be the gun.
>>
>>5322551
>Unless Brawl brings it all down.

"Boss! Hey Boss!"

"Yes?"

"I think someone mislabeled the neo-cortex fusion engine connectors. We might have accidentally hooked up the main line to one of the leg-"

"Look, Megatron is busting my ass to finish this project. Get them together, apply the magna tape, ship them out. I'm sure it'll be fine."
>>
>>5322553
I feel like Devastator is really one of the strongest combiners, and could be noted due to the fact that his Autobot counterpart is not a combiner, but instead an Autobot giant. Perhaps Devastor's big weakness would instead be his speed.
>>
>>5322564

His main opponent is a giant because the Autobots didn't have any combiners at the time. Autobots also generally have less gestalt teams for whatever reasons.

I'm guessing it's because of Swindle and Brawl?

Swindle's not much of a fighter, and Brawl's fucken stupid

Bruticus makes up for his dumbness because he has the most guns of all the combiners. another reason why he's so cool

Here have this Ruination screencap that I photoshoped into bruticus

>Bruticus makes up for his dumbness because he has the most guns of all the combiners. another reason why he's so cool
That might be thanks to Swindle, considering his whole black market dealings.

Kek, maybe Swindle conned Shockwave into being Bruticus' gun for the Combiner Wars line.
>>
>>5322575
>Kek, maybe Swindle conned Shockwave into being Bruticus' gun for the Combiner Wars line.
Speaking of, is it true that CW Bruticus CANT actually hold shockwave as a gun? some anon said he can only attach on Bruticus' back, weird...
>>
>>5322580

But isn't the whole point of the Shockwave Legends figure to be the gun for the other combiners ala Powerglide/Viper?
>>
>>5322541
>Gotta love Protectobot "Cook the spooks, they're all crooks" Rook!

My favorite name will always be "Ole' nigga grave digga"

Seriously, the only reason I want Rook is cause of these threads, today i spotted him at retail but fought against buying him cause i'm gonna get Swindle...
>>
>>5322580
Peaugh has a review up for Shocky right now. I believe his handle was specially designed to be held by gestalts. But as a tradeoff, the weird two-pronged handle for his gun mode can't be held by most voyagers or leaders due to their finger thickness. Deluxes and probably other legends can, too, but the gun is far too big for them to hold without sagging elbows and just looking dumb.

>>5322583
I still need the Protectobot limbs. I've only got Hot Spot and I bought him back in August.
>>
>>5322580
No? I don't know where you heard that one from. All I saw from video reviews was that Leaders and voyagers with big hands can't hold Shockwave. Peaugh proved it. The only thing odd is that he has this little piece that goes in front of the handle which makes it odd for any other figure to hold him, but he totally fits being held by Hasbro's Combiner Wars fists. And I say that because it doesn't appear he can fit in 3P fists.

On the note of hands, what does /tfg/ prefer? Open hands or fists? I've always preferred the old "cube with a tube" fist, and Thew calls 'em.
>>
>>5322598
closed hands, open hand usually just make it harder to hold weapons
>>
>>5322598
Fists last longer. Open hands tend to break easily.
>>
>>5322598
For me, the BEST hands are ones with knuckle joints like Leader Magnus or MP Tracks. you get fists and open hands. On Transformers I prefer them over individual finger articulation.

I'll take cube with a tube over open hands though. permanently open hands give you less poses
>>
>>5322594
So wait, there's a plastic stick that exists solely to reduce how many figures can use it?

Can't we just cut it of or does it do something in the transformation?

I think it's also there to fill in Shocky's back a little, but other than that, I don't think it's an important part.at the worst you won't be able to put it on Bruticus's backpack.
>>
>>5322669
> that exists solely to reduce how many figures can use it?
It's probably more for stability if anything. If it wasn't there, it's probably be a flimsy piece and everyone would complain about that.
>>
>>5322594

Don't the PE fists have individually moving fingers though? Can't they just wrap around the whole piece? Or are the fingers not long enough to do that?

Kek, the new Robot Chicken on right now just explained why Hasbro allows Michael Bay to keep making Transformers movies.

It's apparently because Michael Bay's cock is too intimidating and that whenever they try to speak out against his changes, he freaks them out with it.

>>5322973

The combiners are great all by themselves. The 3rd party hands and feet certainly are good though.

>>5323234
PE hands and feet have more pieces.
As long as it's not MP, Hasbro will jew out.
>>
>>5323234

If they did tha, making designated hands/feet rather than interchangeable ones, then you wouldn't have the complete interchangeability between all of the limb-bots if you bought only ones that came with hands or only ones with feet.
>>
>>5323246

there's no reason Hasbro would need to use more pieces than they already did

I mean how many pieces do you need to make a normal looking hand or foot?
literally one
>>
>>5323246

It's around $34 a set. While thats pretty fucking expensive for JUST a pair of hands/feet for a toy, you could probably easily afford one set a month if you really wanted them. I mean, it's only the cost of 2 Deluxes more or less, and you can't possibly be buying that many Transformers in a month, can you?
>>
>>5322541
Neat, my headcanons are as follows:

>Superion is a dead serious gunslinger due to Powerglide being a thing, or he just uses two versions of his gun in other continuities, one black and one white.
>Bruticus is basically Deathstroke, without the superiority complex, he just takes orders and executes them by any means necessary.
>Menasor is the Hulk with a sword (pretty sure that's the current canon)
>Defensor is the tanky soldier type.
>Computron talks like SAM from Titanfall and does the "Sherlock scan" to beat opponents.
>Abominus is a foaming at the mouth, screaming lunatic.
>Predaking is the current canon.
>Devastator is how he is in Transformers: Devastation.
>>
>>5323253
As >>5323250 said, normal feet and hand would make it harder to scramble, which is actually a big deal for me.

>>5323255

>>
>>5323253

>>
>>5322944

I'd like to say that there's a cheaper solution if you don't care for the gun modes, but Nonnef takes fucking forever to get his shit out. Apparently he's been sick since October and that's slowed things down even more.

I'm still holding out for Nonnef stuff to come out, but unless you're really itching for super posable and beefy hands, it might not be worth it since a set of hands and feet will cost about the same anyways and you have to put the hands together.

>>5323273
This is a relatively high ticket item that is selling out pretty quickly. 3rd party will generally reissue those every few months, especially the bigger groups like Perfect Effect. I wouldn't worry about them being retired anytime soon.
>>
>>5323266

well the ones they made already have more than one piece

all I'm saying is the issue isn't parts count obviously

its that somebody on the design team decided that hands and feet just wasn't enough
>>
>>5323281
>>5323281
>Only downside is that they don't turn to weapons, but that was the main problems with the officials to begin with.
What do you mean? I don't want any part laying around being useless in any mode.
That was fine for G1, but not now.
>>
>>5323291
The hands are solid, but are pretty skinny for the rifle mode.

The feet are the main problem. They're solid till you take them apart for the first time. They don't like to stay together as well. Like all of the sudden the pegs are slightly too big.

Also the feet guns look rad but they're massive and there's 4 of them. 2 of them on the team voyager is alright, but then you have 2 left over that are way too big to look cool on a deluxe or they're too heavy for the bot modes.

I got the set for my Defensor and the gun modes have yet to feel worth it.
>>
>>5323303

What would you do to solve the footgun "doesn't want to stay together as well" thing? I kind of really like the looks of the gatling gun weapons, so I'll probably be using them when my teams aren't in gestalt mode.
>>
>>5323310

I don't have my sets yet is why I'm asking, they're in the mail...Or would be if BBTS didn't let them sit in the fucking warehouse all week.

They better ship on Monday.
>>
>>5323310
Idk. I mean I could always do some floor polish with future shine and see if that helps.

I'll say they don't fall apart by looking at them, but I do gotta watch them carefully while moving.

Go for them if you want, but I'll be going for the KOs for now. $40 for the PE kit just isn't worth it and I want to make at least 2 more teams.
>>
>>5323282
I really want Nonnef hands/feet for everyone.

Except Menasor. For some reason PE's overly squared off pipe-fingered mongoloid mits gel really well with how I think Menasor would look.
