I mean, personally I can get over short arms, especially when G1 suffered from some of the most disgustingly long arms I have ever seen near the end. At least we can cannibalize the master versions of the characters for parts to make some improvements on these guys, I can already think of some ways to improve Lewa without changing his look that involves giving him separate upper arms to his silver vorox armor shoulder things. Kopaka still has the best custom upper arms in my opinion

As much as I think the Vorox armor can make some fairly meaty looking sides, the fact that it is only done on one side and leaves some gaps leaves a bit to be desired, Gali is weird in that she really only looks good as a sharkgirl.

Maybe she looks better in hand who knows, but that one random orange shoulder armor is especially jarring.

The only problem I have with Umarak's design is one that seems almost too easy to fix to the point that I am a little confused about why it isnt like this to begin with.

Moving the hordika necks his arms attach to up one axle would vastly improve his design in so many ways, and it doesnt look like it would interfere with his shoulder armor due to just how large the gap there is, I just dont understand why they are officially the way they are.

To be fair, there is only one pose presented here where it looks dumb, the other poses have it looking a lot better, I have a feeling it restricted upper arm movement slightly so they had to move it down for better bow aiming poses.

I have a feeling that the 4-long shell would bump up with the beartrap shoulder pads if you moved the hordika necks up. Easily fixed with a 3-long, I suppose.

In all honesty, probably 360 degrees, unless there was some specific limit put inside the gear piece or something.


Also after looking at lewa a lot more his upper arms have grown on me, I realized that if I change the way I think of them everything makes a lot more sense, the glatorian necks limit how far you can bring the arms down, but the limit happens when the arms are more or less straight vertical, which means it's fine, and otherwise they articulate decently in terms of how much upper arms on humans can articulate. I also felt like his lower arm armor would limit pose-ability a lot as well due to interference with the vorox armor on the upper arm, but thinking about it more I realize it will just basically limit it into only slightly more range of motion than a standard elbow joint, so that's fine too.

His knees are still iffy, but besides that I like him more the more I think about him

This is something that's always pissed me off about Bionicle and Hero factory. A ton of new weapon molds and armor molds per wave, and half of them are never used again. It's such a waste. Take the new axe part for Gali and Lewa for example, or the one used for the skull villains. Versatile pieces, multiple connection points, and there's a good possibility we won't see either ever again.

2016 is certainly shaping up to be a 'fixer upper' wave of sets. They're certainly not bad, but a few simple changes to the sets, mainly to the weapons, are gonna go a long way.

Lewa 2016 is amazing in terms of colour coordination, silhouette and structure. The only complaint I have is that its weapons are not stationary and spin around. I feel like this would have problems staying fixed while playing or the rotational joints on the propeller blades could loosen up. Would have preferred Lewa to have the blades fixed like a punch-dagger.

Protector of Earth is the best of the six IMO. Ekimu's better than all of them, if you want to count him as a protector. The combo models are shit, except the proper ones for Tahu, Kopaka, and Onua (who we don't have instructions for, only screenshots from the app game).
But honestly, all the protectors you don't already have are pretty good.

I really liked the clean and uniform look of the 2015 sets, while still looking unique.

These look way too similar, even having almost the same weapons and their colour scheme is really tacky filled with silver, gold and trans-colours.

I'll start by assuming you're aussie, given that exchange rate. If you want to get any of the old rahi sets I might sugest parting them out on bricklink and buying parts individually, might be cheaper. Might not work if there are a lot of one off technic recolors in there though. Generally avoid US sellers, shipping is painful (although prices arent really good from anywhere). But really I doubt you'd get much other than the Nui Jaga from your list for the money you have.

As for the skellies, maybe try and grab them on sale, a lot of retail stores are doing sales in the lead up to christmas. There is a pretty good thread in the BST section on the Eurobricks forum that has current Aussie sales in it.

Also sometimes stuff pops up on Gumtree at decent prices. I think I saw a listing with some 01-02 stuff in it a few days ago.

The dynamic between Lewa, Uxar, and Umarak's sets seems like serious fun for play, Uxars shadow trap has a chain you can link up with Umarak's shoulder chain, and then you could have so many cool little scenarios like lewa flying around with Uxar and Umarak shooting him out of the sky, or Umarak gets Uxar and you can reenact anons little comic thing. The fact that the three of them are all top tier sets with top tier uniter forms is also a plus. The three of them are definitely a first buy for me.

Yeah, it's more sensible for TLG to reuse a perfectly good gearbox element and just slap a panel on it than for them to make some funky-ass panel piece with gearbox elements stuck in.

I think of torn-up earth and ruined trees in an earthquake, yes. I don't normally associate avalanches with earthquakes.
