I'll give Star Wars: The Force Awakens one thing, it has somehow managed to resurrect Micro Machines.

I mean really, last time I saw MMs was back in something like 2003
>>
>>5276118

what an interesting story, I guess when you personallystopped seeing micro machines they just all vanished into the fucking ether.

Well *actually* they were discontinued in 2006 by Hasbro. (So I may have gotten my date wrong).
>>
>>5276175
Well I haven't actually bought any, however from the packaging I can tell they're using the original molds for some of the original trilogy stuff and I'm pretty sure they did a repaint for one of the new Force Awakens characters.

Honestly, my hope is that this might, *might* get Hasbro to revive the MM line. Then again seeing how they handled it when they bought it off Galoob that's probably not worth seeing. Hope springs eternal though and all that...

Anyway, anyone else still have their collection?
>>
Ah, 4chan and ignorance, it's amazing how strong people can make statements based on nothing. This is why you fail at this hobby.

The Micro Machines brand was always around, just it was not really in your face per say

When Hasbro started the Titaniums line for both Star Wars and Transformers, if you looked on the back of the packaging for both it had the Micro Machines and Galoob in fine print.

More or less the whole diecast/Titaniums subline by Hasbro was just a 2006-2010 Micro Machines push using the 2 brands.

Yeah, but those weren't actual Micro Machines. It was cool to see the name and logo in use, but they were much larger scale, while these new ones are a mix of new and recycled classic molds, doing mini playsets and figures.

Shame it's just Star Wars, I want my tanks and jets and cars and shit.

Well in my defence I was never much of a Star Wars fan so I didn't exactly follow it closely. I was really always more interested in the military vehicles range.

And as >>5276284 points out, it's not actually branded as Micro Machines so for all intents and purposes this new line of Star Wars Micros is a revival of the branding after a long absence.

Anyway, what was the best playset and why is it the Aircraft Carrier? (Honourable mention to Wolf Ridge and the fold-out M1)
>>
>>5276189
Somewhere I have a good chunk of Original Trilogy and Star Trek pieces. I have a huge hankering for more Star Trek ships currently...

Is that actually the micro machines aircraft carrier? I have one just like that but was an offbrand from walmart.

It always bugged me they only released the Chieftain tank in that even smaller scale series they had. Also anyone else remember that series with the playsets that were a postcard which folded out and had a tiny car (pic related)?
>>
I was excited for the return of MM as well, but these new designs are awful. Terrible, no imagination, no play value, bland looking sets with nothing going on in them. I could forgive the cheaping out on figures and vehicles included with the sets because you can always get more separately, but the sets are shit with or without figures.

The original line had sets that always featured some depth, multiple feature driven areas(2, 3, sometimes even more) whereas half the sets released so far are literally a sand floor with a ship on a stick. The most interesting set is probably the star destroyer like one with the tie fighters and flying x wing, and even then the old Tie Pilot head set did it far better with less space over a decade ago.

>>
The only worthwhile ones are the ship sets, and they're overpriced as fuck.

Also, most of them come badly warped, they need the boiling treatment.
>>
>>5276118

While the sets do suck the ships themselves are great. At first I thought they looked really shitty compared to the nice matte grey finish of the old ones, but comparing the new Y-Wing to my old one, it's no contest. Tons of fine detail.

There were few to zero choking cases.
What usually happens is that someone wants free money and tries to find something wrong with anything and sue over that.

Also, virtually all small toys are allowed to be small. It's why so many toys come with tiny accessories. See image. Lots of choking hazards here, but they're labeled as toys for ages 3+. That label is all they really need.

The fact that mini toys aren't as popular is just that... they're not popular. Micro Machines was a fad.

All playsets are shit.

They are boring and come with just one spaceship and one figure.

I strongly recommend the 3 and 6 figure blisters, and even the blind bags before the playsets.

Also, all figures that come with the playsets can be obtained through the blisters.

Nice. So there is a variety of fighters in the blind bags.

I would love to get a couple of each X Wing, Y Wing, A Wing, and the different TIE fighters.

I'd also like to see B Wings but I don't think it would work that well for a Micro Machine.

Close up of the T-800 and the T-1000, their articulation is just leg and arm joints and the arms move together (hench why Arnie here is in such an awkward pose). Also time has been unfortunate to these two so they're very loose and need support to stand up (just like the real Arnold!)

Also, a Hot Wheels Scorpion Tank.

You too eh, I painted my F-117 a glossy black cuz it was the shitty desert camo one in link related.

I meant to give my YF-23 a similar treatment but never got around to it.

Plastic minis often come with warped parts, one solution is to heat the warped area up with a hairdryer or hot water, bend it into shape and then quickly cool with cold water.

Of course I've yet to try this technique myself, I really should.

I'm imagining Cobra, but I could be wrong. However they certainly look like a late 90s/2000s collection.

Also, I really REALLY want the Carabinieri truck

I honestly haven't the faintest idea. I lived there for about 3 years from 1997-2000 which was during the heyday of Micro Machines (imo).

I'm guessing the Italians really dug the idea, or they're into toy cars maybe? Heck, it could just be some Italian distributor got *really* excited during a trade fair and got Galoob/Hasbro to sign onto a regional exclusive.

It's just one of those things that makes me wish I could call up someone at Hasbro and ask them.

Thanks for the description.

I gave it a shot and I was able to straighten out the sword of my Killing Machine fig.
