That's more then good to start. Expect to spend more in the future, but $300 is a good chunk. Just try to stretch those dollars by finding deals, LGS might give a 10%+ discount etc. And GW's start collecting boxes give a good discount on their content, as long as those mini's are useful to your army.

No idea if Ad Mech is a good starter army, but their damn cool mini's. Just don't blow your $300 wad in one go. I'd say get maybe 1-2 start collecting boxes, assemble/paint, and try some small games 1st. If you get into the habbit of buying too much 1st, you'll end up with a closet full of unbuilt boxes.

"Allows" is different from "encourages". Don't mislead this guy into thinking he isn't going to get pressured towards blowing well over $500 on GW product to "upgrade his starter army".

I sort of thought so. He has like 2 or 3 grand sunk into his army, and pretty much only plays massive games. So I figured his view was a little off. I saw a "start collecting" thing for the dudes. If I get that and a commander guy and maybe another couple units I would think that's easily enough.

I dont mind paying more. But I have a kid, and 90% of my time and money go there. I give myself a few hundred a year to spend on whatever to keep myself from going crazy lol
