Horror is discussed quite a bit. Mysteries too. What about suspense? What makes for good suspense and how can we inject that into our games?

I want to say HP Lovecraft but the whole industrial/pre-modern themed eldritch horror genre has been overused a bit.
I guess unpredictability makes for good suspense, but not to the point of predictably unpredictable.

Oh yeah, and what >>55378069 is doing. Suspense. Don't make it obvious likeif you don't reply to this your mom dies tonight.
Just good little unpredictability andreading this makes you immune to the previous curse.
It's fun to be a goodhearted dick, ya know?

Hate to dilute the suspense but..

You can't talk about suspense on its own because horror is intrinsically tied to it. You can have a horror without a mystery, and you can have a mystery without horror, but you can't have horror without suspense.

But you can have suspense without horror.

>unpredictability makes for good suspense
It's the opposite, really. If you've watched many Hitchcock films, you'll know he builds suspense by effectively telling the audience what is going to happen, but not when it's going to happen, and not to what effect.
