The source of multi-melta of reliable multi-melta are Retribution and Immolator that are supper expensive.

For less you can get Seraphims or Dominions in Repressor that will get within melta range more reliably and in bigger numbers (also cheaper) than Reta and MM Immolators

A full Fulgurite mortal wound charge only takes 2/3 of his health off thanks to Disgustingly Resilient. Given his equipment there's almost no chance they'll manage to get all the squad into him either, and he can tank the entire rest of my army without breaking a sweat.
Honestly given the power Primarchs are currently being handed it would make sense if they conceded by victory points when killed like in 30k, or cost command points rather than providing a big pile of them at best and providing an almost impossible Slay the Warlord at worst.

If you could go back in time only for 40k related purposes, what would you do differently?

I'd go back to when I go back into it just a few months back when 8th came out; pick up one of the Dark Imperium or Know No Fear boxes just to get back into the practice of painting with the Nurgle stuff, then paint the Primaris Marines up nicely; supplement them with a few Dreadnoughts. Then get one other faction (probably Dark Eldar, but Craftworld Eldar are a possibilty, especially if I went big on Wraithguard) and focus on them, so I'd have two decent sized armies instead of 5 (technically 6) small ones at this stage.

So I wanted to start playing this since forever and now with this new edition seems a good point to start. I've been looking at Grey knights and understood that they are a very low model count army. Does that mean that if I go above the minimum units required for each squad I would be gimping myself? (ie: squads of more than 5 terminators, squads of more than 3 paladins, etc).

Need advice on list power.

Playing against a newbie Tau player (he has almost exactly 1000 points worth of models) next Sunday.

I've faced this collection before. He's using his characters to make fire warrior teams into some nasty ass ranged DPS, nearly cut down an entire platoon of conscripts in a shooting phase.

I've got a solid army in terms of objective taking, fire support, and damage sponge (this is the purpose of the conscripts; I bring a big blob of them and let them get beat up to take the heat off my objective holders) but I want to put some pressure on his characters.

My Ratlings are still on the painting block, so I think an imperial assassin (just one) is a nice gap filler.

Would an Eversor be a bit much?

Last match he just put the characters so that they'd buff as many units as possible, which (combined with his trying to keep all his dudes in range AND in cover) resulted in a nice, wide corridor that a deep striking unit could charge them through.

I don't want to overwhelm him but I don't want to give him an easy win, either. If he thinks about properly screening his dudes I'll just toss the assassin against one of his markerlight scout units or a squad of crisis suits, but if he makes another mistake like last week I want to teach him a lesson.

The GW nearby would be nauseatingly nice to you to try and make you feel welcome since the manager is pretty progressive and would love some more shop diversity, but they would never mention it

Mostly because a 9" radius circle has over twice the area of a 6" radius circle even without considering that Cawl himself is on a large base. That's gone from a tightly packed gunblob to a more distributed gunline it's just a good chunk more maneuver room. Not a terrible idea to still keep them blobbed for ease of screening, but flexibility is always useful.

We're testing some points changes in necrons. Specifically, point decreases on warriors and immortals. The c'tan all get a unique power for them (there's a unique deceiver power, a unique night bringer power, and a unique power for the new c'tan unit).

For stratagems, we're trying to make stratagems that reflect how crazy necron tech is. for instance, we're trying to make a balanced stratagem that reflects one dynasty's ability to blink out the star that the battle is orbiting around. It is hard to do justice though, because it's such a powerful effect in lore, but how do you make a stratagem that powerful without completely unbalancing the game.

So that one is a maybe. We're still working on it.

Characters, like Trazyn, are getting their own stratagems. Trazyn is a fun one. For 3 CP and the regular points cost he can include any unit from any army in his list, as long as that unit isn't something you can only include one of in its army (so no guillman). That unit starts in reserve, and at the end of a movement phase, Trazyn can deploy it within 12 inches of himself, and more than 9 inches away from any enemy unit.

You don't get to control the unit. Instead, the unit acts independently in your turn. It moves to the closest enemy unit and shoots and charges the closest enemy units. The kicker is that this unit considers your own units enemies as well as your opponent's units. If at any point there is a tie for closest unit, each player rolls off to determine which is being moved towards/shot/charged. So it becomes a careful positioning game.

Double random canticles seems pretty shit compared to chapter and legion tactics. There are generally only two possible good results in any given turn so a lot of the time you will have nothing helpful and even if you get lucky and roll the best ones, any one canticle is inferior to most marine tactics. Unless the canticles themselves get buffed or there is a general price drop / power boost mars admech are not going to be competitive.
