Would an elf skull be identical to a human skull? I don't think differently shaped ears would leave any indication on the bone.

You could try for Baelnorn, but that sounds about as much fun as being an immortal light house keeper, honestly.

I assume that would work out, though if there is a vampire prince and organization you have to pay tribute to then you'd have less freedom than a lich. Liches are essentially neets that spend time alone in a comfy tower or dungeon. Occasionally you get food delivered in the form of adventurer souls.
