How do you feel and what do you think about historical fashion in fantasy settings?

If a player cares enough to describe their character's clothing, I vastly prefer relative historic-accuracy to warcraftHueg stupidity.

Witcher 2 and 3 had some top tier grounded historically inspired clothes and armor.

It is the only acceptable fashion. Medieval fantasy is good. High fantasy armour shit reeeee

Sometimes I wonder what the hell was wrong with the nobility of back then if they thought that the ridiculous fopshit they wore back then was "cool". But then I realize we live in the age of crocs, uggs and shutter shades.

Like most things in fantasy involving realism it's great when done well but if you have a lazy gm who doesn't actually do his research but wants to label his game as realistic it's a shitfest

A part of nobility clothe is to scream: "I dont need to fucking work". Because it would be impossible do so with such clothes.

I prefer to make my own instead of just cribbing from historicals.

Apparently this guy was a really good swordsman despite being short, pudgy, and club-footed.

Fantasy needs more landsknecht
Late 12th century was, in my opinion, the best era for medieval dress: simple but good looking, with none of the overworked stuff the people of later centuries had to suffer through. The ladies, in particular, could look amazing with their tightly-fitting bliauts and bling.
