>player starts ploting his revenge
>learning seemingly innocuous spells and feats
>first time we are face to face with the bbeg
>he's the one who killed the apprentice
>players starts his combo
>GM gets caught by surprise and realizes if he follows the rules the player kills the bbeg, has to use DM fiat but is so sudden he starts to stutter and makes several mistakes
>bbeg survives but this encounter brings shame to the GM
