>far future setting
>alternate history where, instead of investing purely in data storage, we went hard into bio-tech
>cloning, into gene-modification, into full-on body transfers into non-human bodies
The line between, "pet," and, "person," is vague, indistinct, and people born in the last fifty years of the setting claim that it never existed, because, "things have always been like this, right?"
If you want specifics, describe a creature. Someone, somewhere in the setting has probably custom-ordered that exact thing, if for no other reason than shits and giggles.

>Large, long-legged dogs which can be ridden like horses. Raised by those who want a loyal, more difficult to spook mount.
>Stocky, black and white goats which grow hollow, spiraling horns. Bred to produce musical instruments, the horns are loosely attached and easily fall off. The horns make different sounds based on the size and shape they grow into before they are harvested.
>Hogs with tough hides and scaly, difficult to pierce skins. Known colloquially as "Turtle Pigs, they are bred to produce a strong leather for armor. The strength of their skin makes it difficult to actually harvest the leather, so non-physical means must be used.
>Aggressive fighting rams with stronger skulls and horns. Bred as combatants for the sheep-fighting arena. Illegal in some areas, these rams also see use as guard beasts and protectors.
>Hairless, bloated cows which produce more blood than their bodies actually need. Bred by "vegan" vampires as an alternative to human blood.
>Large cats which grow large quantities of woolly fur. Bred from the ragdoll cat, these docile felines are used in some places in place of speech.
