A concept I'm trying to develop for a setting is the idea that Vajra is the name of the soul stuff given physical form. Far from it being a sort of "lightsaber", it's something that can be used in the crafting of permanent physical objects (i.e. a craftsman pouring his own vajra or that of another person into an object).
So I'm wondering what, if any, western ideas exist that have something similar to it? The idea is that basis is still the same but a western style civilization and an eastern style one call it different things

A nice start, although I'm thinking more classics here. That said I'm trying to recall some ancient greek shit where something exists in a perfect form and the form we see is just a projection of it? Am I even remembering that right?

This is how Sauron crafted the rings, pouring his own power into them. In fact it's how powerful artifacts work in tons of real-world mythologies.

I think so. Digging in a bit it goes back to the Theory of Forms so it kind of fits what I was thinking.
Actually I think it would be cool to call a spirit material Ideal or Forma or something like that (might have a winner)

That's the idea I'm working with. I've liberally stolen ideas of chakra and how magic works in Demon's Soul so basically all special powers have a foundation in the soul and the soul stuff is the strongest material in existence to make things from.
Need special chains to bound some demon? Soul chains
Need a magic sword? Mix in your soul stuff into the steel
So on and so forth.
