Pathfinder General /pfg/

Solitude Edition
Where does your character go to get away from it all?

Is your character attractive without makeup? How much gold does she spent on it?
>>
>>55171200
Are wall mounted torches ambient lights? Do they get extinguished by darkness because they are torches?
>>
>>55171543
She hasn't had the luxury of make up for a few months now yet she is still the prettiest thing within dozens of miles.
>>
>>55171718
They're the first warning sign a dungeon is inhabited, anon, because they can't light themselves.

My players didn't even think about it when I described the hallways as being lit by torches. They were shocked when the door they tried to open because it was locked was opened by the bugbear who was in the room sleeping. they asked me how they could have possibly known the uninhabited castle had monsters in it.
>>
>>55171543
Not really. she's got a somewhat sharp boned, angular face, though she's got a lithe body the rogue is jealous of and eyes to die for. The female bard is crushing on her so i guess someone thinks she's pretty.
>>
>>55171798
I'm just trying to decide here what a dungeon with wall mounted torches would have for lighting where a darkness spell and an eternal flame overlap.
>>
Does anyone have art of that half-angel half-demon girl that got posted around here a few times?
>>
Does it make sense for a Skald to be the leader of a band of mercenaries?
>>
>>55172148
Absolutely, since he generally has the charisma, leadership skills, and buff control to set the rhythm of combat for his allies and lead them into battle
>>
>>55171200
>1
Sword drills in the nearest empty space
>2
Sitting in contemplation in the forest
>3
PMing his crush
>>
>>55171543
They are all attractive without makeup, but the makeup comes out for the noblewoman when she's heading to proper events of any kind. Adventure is one thing, but people want her to look her best when she's at the ball or some formal feast or festivity.
So far it's under 10 gold, iirc, but we haven't had many parties either.
>>
How good of an idea is it to have an evil empire ruled by a puppet government of a powerful lich who maintains power through the distribution of addictive magic-drugs, and a war machine powered by animated constructs and a genetically engineered race which are also reliant on said drugs? All the while the populace is kept happy by a combination of supposed democratic governance, readily available creature comforts provided by said drug fuelled magic and slaves, and not having to worry about conscription due to said slaves forming most of the military?

Also, let's say that the Lich in question doesn't care so much about actually ruling, but rather just wants to have the perfect cover to allow him to experiment freely on a powerful artifact that is bound to the nation
>>
>>55172126
Please be more descriptive.
>>
>>55172364
Sounds fine to me
>>
>>55172126
>half-angel half-demon girl
Have you tried either Deviantart or the local donut shop?
>>
>>55172435
Stereotypical insufferable Mary Sue with clear angel and demon halves, such as having both an angelic and a demonic wing, clothes also split in half, etc.

>>55172558
I'm deliberately making an ironic special snowflake character
>>
>>55172438
Sweet, just gotta get together enough narrative to properly explain how all this happened. Then, once I get home and in front of my computer I can write up the lore for The Republic of Ayngrol
>>
>>55172578
If it's deliberate, then all the more reason to hit up DA for the art
>>
>>55172594
I just remember one particular piece of art which got posted on /pfg/ multiple times and which would fit perfectly if I could find it. Google image search hasn't helped me so far, unfortunately.
>>
>>55172594
yeah they'll be, uh, blatant to say the least
>>
>>55171766
What's her Charisma? It isn't hard to be the prettiest thing in a dozen miles when she's up against peasant rabble.
>>
>>55171543
She may be considered cute by some. She isn't overly attractive with makeup, though.
>>
Within the modules and the adventure paths, are there any particularly good wilderness adventures?
>>
>>55172693
18 without any sort of buffs, magical aid or inherent bonuses take from books or whatever have you
>>
>>55171718
Torches aren't extinguished by darkness, only dimmed.
>>

>First, "people asking you to stop" was largely one person who wasn't even serious
Patently false.

>Then you'd be better off shitting at people who actually posted sexual stuff in discord, of whom there were several.
Who says I don't? You're not being singled out as the only one, only mentioned for being representative of the level of obnoxious fucking constant posting about this game, lewd or not.
>>
>>55173628
I'm not even in the discord and Mashallah annoys the fuck out of me.
>>
>>55173670
Who's worse, Mashallah or IDrive?
>>
>>55173716
I.Drive. It takes a special kind of asshole to sink a game and an even bigger asshole to think he can just say sorry and come back.
>>
>>55173628
>Patently false.
Please provide proof of your claims witchhunt anon. You may be correct in it being literally >1, but it still sounds like a disgruntled and cowardly vocal minority.

No, I agree with witchhunter. Fuck off.
>>
>>55173843
I'm just the MIDF. It's kind of ridiculous to bring someone up then get mad when people talk about them though.
>>
To whoever had the idea last thread of a campaign where heroes save a dragons eggs from an evil princess I think I'm actually going to try and give it a shot. The question is what type of dragon to use
>>
So I have a magus who already has plus ten initiative. Is improved initiative even necessary at this point? I always read that it's actually one of the most valuable feats a caster can have
>>
>>55173966
If you don't feel like you need it, a Magus has plenty of shit to spend feats on
>>
>>55173966
Get it, nerd. Be fast as fuck on the draw.
>>
>>55173933
The type doesn't matter, what matters is their plan
The despotic nation plans of performing experiments on the eggs and newborn dragons, mutating them into dangerous mutant warbeasts to help fuel their conquest of the neighboring lands.

Regrettably, the Dragon herself cannot assault the fools themselves, as they hold ownership to an Orb of Dragonkind (which is part of their plan to control the mutant babies)
>>
>>55174019
I think the type does matter at least a little bit, if only in broad strokes. Metallic would make the most sense, but some of the more strange dragon types that have been printed over the year could make for interesting options
>>
So in the grand scheme of things how obnoxious of a tripfag is DHB? Like, what has he done to shit on this general?
>>
I want CON to AC on a Dwarf Earth Kineticist.

Is this possible?
>>
>>55174144
Speaking of DHB has anyone used his races?

They look kinda interesting? WHat did he make them for?
>>
>>55174144
Nothing much really. Just occasionally post homebrew and ask for critique and ideas. Otherwise he keeps generally disconnected from the thread politics and drama, and otherwise only gets mentioned when someone wants to either bring him up or shit on him. Really, out of all the celebs, he's the most reclusive and the lease celeb-y
>>
>>55173966
If you've got a feat slot for it, take it. There's plenty of times you'll roll a 2 with that +10 initiative.
>>
>>55173966
Not really. Magus is in the unique position of being better as a reactive caster than a forefront caster, because it allows them time to decide which options are best when the enemy has shown their hands.
>>
So how is the main country in your setting run?

The government on the main one in mine is split between a Theocratic Bureaucracy and a Democratic Council Plutocracy who together run the government.
>>
>>55174144
No witchhunting. Here to discuss game, game mechanics and games, not whether or not [name] has done [something someone doesn't like].

If you don't know whether or not someone has done something to upset someone, there's no reason to go looking for controversy.
>>
>>55174362
Council of liches run the country and have to serve time teaching at colleges in exchange for getting assistance with research and political power. Surprisingly it works very well.

A very angry wight leads the military, the aristocracy is mixed with vampires and humans. There are laws about how feeding undead procure their food. Primary export of the nation is magical goods and extremely skilled mages.
>>
>>55172126
Not sure if this is the one you meant, but saw it just before coming into the thread.
>>
>>55174424
Not the one, sorry.
It was a pretty cute girl.

DHB is fine. He talks about his characters directly instead of pretending to be other people who are "fans" of his character. The worst things about DHB are his tone-deafness, his inability to play a character that doesn't have a fuck-huge Diplomacy score, and the fact that he doesn't know when to disengage when being baited.
>>
>>55174465
>doesn't know when to disengage when being baited.
To be fair, he stays civil as far as I know. Even when he responds to bait, it's usually to try and explain himself and respond honestly to criticism rather than getting confrontational like Vult or trying to weasel his way into convincing himself he's right like 2hu.
>>
>>55174461
No witchhunting at all. People who engage in it should be banned from /tg/.
>>
>>55174465
To be fair, the diplomacy score thing has to be a meme at this point. The first time he was just "sup, look at the bullshit you could pull off 1/day" and nobody has let him live it down since.
>>
>>55174493
What if the people being hunting deserve it so that we can force them to remove themselves from our hobby to make it better for everyone?
>>
>>55174541
Yeah, a better example would be his sleepy reverse trap for LoBaF. It started as "Oh shit son my Initiative bonus is gonna be over 20 at the start of the campaign" and then he realized "Yeah, maybe I should back it down."
>>
>>55174559
No; and there hasn't been one of those faggots in a long time. If anything witchhunters are closer to it than anything else.
>>
>>55174480
Oh yeah, he definitely remains calm and just makes his argument, but he keeps going long past the point that it's clear he's having an argument with a troll.
>>
>>55174561
He entered the campaign with +18, he didn't back down he just didn't change it. People stopped caring once he got accepted.

>>55174643
Like the Naruto guy argument.
>>
>>55174577
Fuck off. People like IDrive and Rory deserve to be chased off. It's handwringing faggots like you who want to give everybody a second chance that gives the shitters a foot back in the door whenever they come back to "apologize".
>>
>>55173410
That sounds extremely motivational.
>>
>>55174751
You're the sort of shitter that kills systems by chasing off everyone you don't like without realizing that there isn't really an influx of new players.
Old systems with a lot of competition in the market can't afford to be selective about their player bases
>>

I found it by looking through the archive.
Here it is for anyone who might be curious what I had in mind.
>>
>>55175012
The logs got leaked, I don't know by whom.
I believe the murder and rape were conflated into one NPC, but in reality he killed one plot-critical NPC and raped another.
And the game had to reset and re-recruit in order to keep going.
>>
>>55174973
Argentum himself said he doesn't hold it against IDrive. Who are you to be upset in Argentum's stead?
>>
>>55174973
Fortunately you're no more the boss of me than you are this board despite your self important shitposting and belief that anonymity makes you important and worth listening to.
>>
>>55175012
Rory is the log leaker. IDrive is the rapist/murderer.
>>
>>55175066
>Who are you to be upset in Argentum's stead?
Somebody who applies to /pfg/ games. Even if the DM doesn't care, I certainly don't want to play with somebody with a history of disruptive behavior.

>>55175067
>self important shitposting
I want to keep disruptive players out of games while you white-knight for their honor and I'm the self important shitposter? I didn't realize it was possible for somebody to be this retarded.

>>
>>55174944

Both of you can fuck off. There's no need to defend the game culture of the thread, it's already dead. All the good players have their games now we're left with the dregs like Mashallah and Kawase. Game culture is dying here and I say good riddance.
>>
>>55175209

>>
>>55174144

Actually, IDrive gave a pretty good explanation of what went wrong.

http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/54654751/#54656647

the tl;dr "shit, slept through game" and then "shit, I'm too much of a coward to go back and apologise, especially since it looks like I'm a giant shit"

So, it's incompetence rather than active maliciousness.

I'm still glad it happened so I had a chance to get in!

>blowing a minimum of 10k at level 3, which would eat a significant chunk of a party's total WBL
>then convincing your GM to ALSO let you slap a bunch of what amounts to curses and shit on it for giggles
>>
>>55177063
Not quite. There used to be two for each one, one good, the other evil. The evil ones got together and planned some shit, and manged to imprison all four of the good ones.

Planes of Power for PF explains all this in detail.
>>
>>55176821
Technically, if he can make the +5 to the Dc check for every lacking feat and spell he needs, he could manage it.
>>
>>55177132
Except he doesn't have the CL to make anything that even remotely has any abilities the One Ring had in addition to, you know, not even qualifying for Forge Ring at CL 3.
>>
Pray tell which one of these builds would be more useful for my party: 4 implement occultist that specializes in utility and swinging hard at low AC targets or full on melee monster. The party comp is occultist (me), hunter, herb witch, rogue and paladin (stonelord)

According to /tg/ by RAW you don't have to have those feats or anything, just add +5 to the DC for not meeting the caster level.

I don't think that can be applied to the feat, actually, but RAW it does apply to the caster level of the item.

I would also beat my player to death with pic related if they tried that shit in my games.
>>
>>55177216
Well then let's see. Crafting is 5+CL so assuming we are talking the actual One Ring that's without a doubt CL 20 so that's 25 from the get go, greater invisibility is +5. greater scrying another +5. command isn't a wizard spell so +5 again and yeah I don't think he can get 45+ craft roll without rolling nat 20 and getting every single possible existing bonus he can get from anything.
>>
>>55177216
It can't apply to the feat requirement, it can for everything else, but the sheer price of such an item means even if he could meet the obnoxious DC, he wouldn't be able to make it
>>
So I'm working on implementing a Pit Fighter build, focusing on getting the performance gimmick online cohesively. Nothing revolutionary so far because it runs into feat starvation issues, especially early on when you're stuck with deadweight performance feats unless the GM decides to throw you in the arena. Dunno how I can make it smoother, VSA Barbarian gives some interesting options with Roar of the Crowd but exasperates feat starvation issues.

>These prerequisites must be met for the item to be created. Most of the time, they take the form of spells that must be known by the item’s creator (although access through another magic item or spellcaster is allowed). The DC to create a magic item increases by 5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting its prerequisites.

Also, the CL of the resultant item isn't a prerequisite, it just sets the DC.

Vanish is a level 1 spell, so technically speaking getting permanent invisibility would just cost 1000 gold. The actual 1-ring I made had the following

> +4 Str, Con, Dex, Int, Wis, and Cha, all through continuous spell effect setups from the 2nd level buff spells
> Vanish
> Shield
> Mage Armour
> Glibness(Although I had to get the bard to assist me).

I then crafted 5 lesser rings of power through a similar setup, and gave them to my party members. To be fair, we did take out a rather huge dungeon that claimed the lives of 7 characters, and had access to a lot of money as a result. Everyone just pooled all our money together and let the wizard craft a shitload of custom magic items.
>>
>>55176966
It's actually impossible to make a continuous spell effect-True Strike. Because it only works on spells with a strict duration. True Strike lasts until you hit something, which doesn't count for those purposes.

Otherwise I totally would have put that shit on there too.
>>
>>55177663
>so technically speaking getting permanent invisibility would just cost 1000 gold
it really wouldn't, because the cost would get massively multiplied by the spell being measured in rounds

They're pretty retarded. That's how. Although I've quickly found out in the current campaign that there's literally no point at all in using any buffs or defensive spells. And save-or-lose automatically fails on boss enemies.
> Throw a buffed-up "Blindness/Deafness" at the boss, with a saves DC of 19.
> DM blatantly cheats on the monster saves and makes them auto-pass. Even as I throw that same spell at them 3 times in a row.
> Use a combination of several buffs to get my AC to 25
> Suddenly all of the level 1 goblins have a 100% chance to crit me, after using invisibility to sneak past the party and sneak attack the wizard.
> Start of every combat fucking ever, the wizard gets dived through the entire party and sneak-attacked for 80% of his healthbar.

It's gotten so bad that nowadays I build my wizards with 16 Con, take Toughness, and be a half-elf that doubles up my preferred class bonus at +2 HP per level. I had more HP than the fucking barbarian, just level 1 goblins wouldn't 1-shot my wizard.

So a question: an NPC from the NPC codex, the God Stealer, has 17 levels of wizard, but 7 is enchanter and 10 conjurer. How? Multiclass into wizard with already existing wizard levels? Do wizards get to cut off their specialization at some point and take another?

We don't always kill off everyone, usually the party gets bored and switches to a different adventure for a time. Right now we're going through official adventure paths, in this case it's "Rise of The Runelords". The prevailing cause of death for my wizards is "Strangled to death". The fun part is that in the setting vampires and werewolves are seen as stuff of folklore, even zombies are incredibly uncommon since necromancy is extremely taboo and inherently evil. So I get to explain to the party that the things that go bump in the night are real.

He comes from a noble and wealthy family whose ancestors were said to have hunted evil. Of course he never believed the stories until one day he heard stories of a necromancer raising the dead in a cave near his city. He had trained as a professional fighter and met a young witch who was also investigating the reports. So checked it out for himself. That's where he saw that it was real. That it wasn't just fairy tales. He vowed to stop these evil abominations any way he could. The witch happened to be a member of this organization and invited him to join.

He became a magus because he started to study the arcane in order to know his enemy. Fight fire with fire and get inside the mind of someone who would use it for evil. He also met a cute young paladin (virtuous bravo) in the organization named Anna Sabaltic. He fell in love with her. One day they were on a mission with other members and they were not prepared at all. Damon became cursed with the ashrot, and Anna became cursed with lycanthropy, they were he only two to survive that encounter.

Nigga there's nothing to talk about. We discuss new books into the ground the day they get leaked and twiddle our thumbs the rest of the time. Almost everyone interested already has games, and posting about them just turns the thread into a salt mine so they stopped talking about them.

Probably most of the Occult classes except for the Psychic. And even then, the Psychic at least has some different class features, and Phrenic Amplifications has some room for fun additions.

The whole bundle of Occult classes feels like you can make a decent, functional party just by picking four of them and dropping them into an adventure. Most of the party configurations could reasonably get through an AP (i.e a party consisting of a Medium, a Kineticist, a Spiritualist, and a Mesmerist could probably get through Rise of the Runelords or Curse of the Crimson Throne).

So, I saw a thing for a setting the other day, and decided to write a bit.

>”Historically, a number of peoples inhabited what would become modern-day Ecladeaux, with new tribes appearing quite frequently. However, these ancient settlers just as often came to a sudden and vicious end, for as long as humans have occupied the northern continent, the moraig have menaced them. Antiquarians have discovered the ruins of many villages struck by these hulking raiders, and more than a few ancient carvings depict the destruction they would visit upon those unfortunate enough to lay in their path.”

>”Though they are often described as a single people in surviving records, the moraig exhibit considerable diversity in their otherwise humanoid physical appearance. Some varieties stand at a 'mere' three meters, while individuals in excess of seven have been (rarely) reported-however, a height of between four and five meters is the most common, with limbs that often appear too large or too small for their bodies. Males are known to possess horns on their head, similar in appearance to a wild goat's, but the horns of cattle and even rhinoceroses are not unheard of. Their thick, pebbly skin ranges in color from deep yellow to a pale red, though they are prone to painting themselves in other hues, with shaggy patches of black or gray hair helping to armor their fatty hides against the cold.”

>”Most notable regarding the appearance of the moraig is the large, singular eye, sitting beneath their brows. Despite the impressive variance in their forms, the yellow-irised, bloodshot eye is unmistakable to any who have encountered them previously. This mono-eye lies at the center of many of the race's beliefs and myths, and represents the epitome of all things moraig in their society. Rumors persist of rare individuals capable of killing with a glare, but this has never been confirmed by research.”

(1/3)
>>
>”Though many consider the moraig mere beasts, the rare glimpses into their lives gained by brave scholars paint them in a very different light. When not engaged in raiding in their distinctive hide boats, these giants live in simple villages near to the waterside-they have been seen hunting, fishing, whaling, and growing crops in a manner not dissimilar to the ancient tribes themselves. Moraig communities are presided over by a chieftain-often a popular war leader or raid captain-with succession frequently passed to a brother or cousin, though a chieftain may be challenged for his position if he is deemed inept or unlucky. Moraig communities often have at least one priest who conducts various rituals to invite good fortune, and frequently acts as adviser to the chieftain. Tribes may fight each other for food or riches, but they just as frequently meet to trade crafts, supplies, or looted treasures.”

>”Despite their many similarities to the ancient peoples of Ecladeaux, the moraig have maintained their antagonistic attitude towards humanity even into the modern age. The origin of this long-standing enmity lies in the moraig creation myth: according to their belief, the moraig are the perfect creations of three gods, Fib, Fa, and Furm. Upon completing the moraig, the god Fib blessed the race by granting them his one eye, so they might see the wonders of the world. However, a number of small, misshapen creatures grew envious of the blessing, and stole the eyes of both Fa and Furm as they slept, affixing the two organs to their own ugly faces. As humans apparently fit the myth's description of 'small, misshapen creatures with two eyes', the moraig thus consider them to be innately despicable and untrustworthy, and thus take great pleasure in slaying them and plundering their works.”

>”Unfortunately for the moraig, the advent of the Luminerium heralded the end of their time in Ecladeaux. Though they continued to raid outlying villages, their ability to mount direct assaults on human settlements weakened considerably with the establishment of the Royal Military, and battles between moraig tribes and the Royal Legions ended in the latter's favor with increasing frequency. Chiozespierre the Rising, upon assuming the throne, famously decreed that he would not stomach the presence of foes on land that rightfully belonged to the Luminerium, and sent his soldiers from Aurore to conquer the entire northern continent in the Solar King's name.”

>”With unyielding determination, the Legions drove the moraig from their homes and hunting grounds, pursuing survivors across the frozen land with the patience of stone and the crushing force of an avalanche. In a final act of defiance, the remaining moraig tribes formed a confederation with the explicit goal of crushing the humans in a surprise assault from the southeastern edge of the continent-however, the Battle of the Floes ended in a Legion victory, with no fewer than seven moraig chieftains slain, and what remained of the tribes were forced to flee across the seas.”

>”Though the moraig have attempted to enter Ecladeaux several times since then, they have been repulsed each time by Luminerium forces, and Chiozespierre's decree remains unbroken, leaving the moraig little choice but to eke out a living on the northernmost corners of the eastern continent-far from the light of the Villalize, and all too close to the Twisted Wastes. To many in Ecladeaux, the moraig are simply a name in the histories, a barbaric foe vanquished by the light of civilization, never to be feared again.”

Suggestions for something interesting to build would be greatly appreciated.

I like sorcerers. I like how the 2+int spells and low incentive to actually raise it makes for a really interesting character to roleplay.

You have this guy who has a measure of power similar to the most intelligent people in the setting and there is a pretty good chance that they'd be packing 8-12 int. How did they get this power? Half the time there would be a really mysterious reason but on some rare occasion its by sheer dumb luck. So you can have some random farmboy whose sole educational attainment is being able to read and do basic sums suddenly develop power beyond his imaginings and get thrust into grand adventure and if he lives long enough, has the potential for reality bending magic.

Now, said idiot only has pathetic intelligence, but party still needs to know things right? So you pair him up with a sage familiar, and suddenly the impressionable little oik has a scorpion sitting on his shoulder telling him what to do and occasionally pinching him when he completely misunderstands the simplest of instructions.

And the best part is there is so much potential coming from this ignorant simpleton. Maybe he learns the spiderman lesson and becomes responsible with said power, or maybe he gets pushed around so hard and falls in with the wrong people and becomes utterly unconvinced that he should show any restraint when using this power.

How do you challenge a well-optimized group, /pfg/? I'm not sure I can really handle the current lineup in my own campaign, solid as it is, without turning things into rocket tag.

Unless it says that only "enemies" are affected or that you're explicitly immune, you're not immune to your own effects.

That's what I thought, but it's kind of weird because it explicitly adds extra negative effects to using duplicated magic items later. I couldn't quite tell if it was supposed to only apply to enemies or if it was meant to be a risk-reward thing.

>>
>>55185761
Basically you start with like 6 maneuvers at level 1 and gain 1 maneuver at 2nd level and every odd numbered level afterwards. You can also swap maneuvers at every even numbered level.

As you progress in Maneuver levels (something similar to spell levels for vancian casters) prerequisites start popping up which requires you to know X number of maneuvers from that discipline (equivalent to spell schools). So if you don't plan on taking advanced study for extra maneuvers known, you are going to need to follow a pretty strict progression plan to ensure you get what you need at the later levels.

Think of it this way, if a sorcerer needed to know 2 conjuration spells to learn a 5th level conjuration spell his life would be pretty hellish too.

Alright, so, guys, I'm sorry, but I don't want to start a new thread just for this simple question, but there's no 3.5e thread. Just ignore me if this upsets you for whatever reason.

I'm currently playing in a 3.5e game, and although I've been around D&D 3.5e/PF a long time, I've never actually played before. My DM is actually very, very experienced in it, but he just said something that was just.. odd. And I'm wondering if I'm the one that's crazy or not.

Basically, I'm playing an Aasimar, with +1 LA, and I just became level 2, which means I have an ECL of 3. I say that everyone gets a feat, beside me, and I tell the others (who are all complete noobs in basically all roleplaying).

And the DM tells me that no, I get a feat too, because my ECL is 3, and you get a feat at level 3.

Am.. am I crazy here? I realize I'm arguing my way out of an early feat, and with LA Buyoff, this won't matter much, especially since he's drastically increased experience gain for lvls 1-5. But fuck, I'm SURE that this can't be right.

1. Am I the insane one here? Am I wrong?
2. If I'm not the insane one, where is this shit clarified? Where do I point and say "Hah! I don't actually get a feat for another 3000 experience! So there!"?
>>
>>55187705

I found this:

>Feat Acquisition and Ability Score Increases: A monster’s total Hit Dice, not its ECL, govern its acquisition of feats and ability score increases.
>>
>>55187812
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monstersAsRaces.htm#featAcquisitionandAbilityScoreIncreases

That's in the SRD, and that's fine if they're using that. I'm looking at the DMG myself but can't find that same line yet, though it definitely feels implied.
