COLD COLD COLD HOLY SHIT COLD GIVE ME THOSE WINTER CLOTHES RIGHT NOW. Okay, okay. That was…unpleasant. I got taken somewhere again. And now I'm even younger than I was before. Great. There has to be some kind of connection to the times I got pulled away. Does a certain amount of time need to pass before it happens, or was there something I was doing both times that triggered it somehow? Unless there's a hidden link to 'going to a party at the bar' and 'going shopping for groceries', that doesn't seem to be the case.

Aside from the winter clothes and me being outside of city walls, not much feels very different. Instinctively, use telepathy to read the minds of those passing by me…and it still works. I still have my psychic powers. Likewise, my Pokemon can be pulled quite literally out of my sleeve at will. And I still have no idea what this stupid key is for. Well, I'm in a different world, so it's probably irrelevant. I toss it into the lake on my way into town and then start seeing what information I can get.

I'm in the kingdom of Arendelle, looks like. Sounds vaguely familiar but I've been away from home for about twenty years now and way too much has happened. I do know by now that the worlds I enter tend to be based off of fiction from my world. Wonder if this is a fantasy novel of some kind?...I wonder, am I actually showing up in said fiction in real-time back in my world? I really don't want to think about it. Someone like me continually popping up in stuff people read or enjoy would probably be annoying.

So I'm reading Desolate Era to figure out what sort of things the cultivation methods there can do, and I'm only on Book 2 but I already hate Ji Ning so much. It's not so much that he does anything particularly wrong, though I do find his tendency to confuse magnanimity with kindness to be rather infuriating, it's just that he's so god damned boring. He spends three chapters standing around talking about how his training is making him so strong, and then when it comes time to put up, it's over in two paragraphs! How is this entertaining? And don't you fucking tell me it's wish fulfillment power fantasies, because there's not even any fun description of cool stuff he does with his power. Half the time we're told about the fights after they've already happened. "Wow, that sure was an impressive battle Ji Ning fought, he did so many cool things I can't even begin to describe them." Ugh. Fuck this writing style.

Alright, enough rambling. There's a coronation ceremony being held for the royalty and it's a big deal, from the looks of it. Apparently the royalty just hasn't left the castle the for several years? Whatever, it gives me something to do. No telling when I'll disappear again, after all. Thing is, I'm poorly dressed for the occasion so I get a lot of nasty looks and end up in the far back of the ceremony with what I assume are the other commoners and townspeople. Thing is, even they're better dressed than I am.

There's some kind of commotion happening, but that isn't what gets my attention. What gets my attention is someone standing across from me, on the other side of the crowd gathered around for the ceremony. Someone with clothing and a posture that's like mine - completely at odds with the situation. A pair of strangely colored-eyes looking right at me with a bored expression. Wearing a hoodie and urban clothes that had no resemblance to the people and setting around us.

They looked familiar.

I pushed past the crowd and tried to call out to them, but they turned and walked away. When I turned the corner they were last seen at, they were gone. What the hell…?

Unless they're very specifically noted to appear somewhere else or it's otherwise impossible, I say that all my properties appear more or less in a clump, which is placed somewhere out of the way and unlikely to attract a lot of attention. That varies from jump to jump. Like, sometimes they're an hour's drive out of town, sometimes they're off in the country.
But it does mean at this point there's a place following me between jumps with, like, a couple different restaurants, specialty shops, a few mansions (all of which are strangely empty), surrounded by ruins with a small pyramid nearby, and a network of tunnels and bases underground.

It's a pretty weird place for canon characters to accidentally wander into. Invariably, they feel like something is straight up weird about the place, but they are unable to describe exactly what.

Maybe awaken the force in those who survive the Jedi battles?

I hear some shouting in the middle of the castle before there's a collection of gasps and mounting panic. Trails of ice followed the Queen as she fled and crossed the lake, fleeing while the cold would steadily cover the entirety of the waters and then the land that followed. Snow began to fall, and a Princess rides off to find what I assume is her sister. Well. There's the plot. Might as well follow it. Double-checking my gear and my supplies in my Bag from when I was on the road, I begin my own trek along the snow.

It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. The snow fall only intensified as I walked along the increasingly cold path, and the winter clothes kept my warm but didn't make fighting the growing blizzard any easier. In irritation, I shook my fist at the falling snow and hoped it would melt, and then the air in front of me caught on fire. When I panicked and wanted it gone, the fire disappeared. Then I tried again. And again. The fire fizzled out against the overwhelming snow and cold, but it would appear and intensify along with my wishes.

Okay. I'm pyrokinetic now, as well as psychic. Sure. Why not. At least this makes clearing a path a little bit easier. I have to fight the blizzard, but I can torch holes in the snow and get a clearer view of the road and the terrain I'm on. The water freezes again not long afterwards, but this makes my life simpler.

I wonder…between this and my psychic powers from the last world, do I just get stronger with each time I get abducted? It's like I have some kind of cheat mode for reincarnation without an off switch. I'd be delighted if not for the fact I've, twice over, lost everything in a sudden bolt I had no real control of. First I was shot twice and presumably died. Then, when I rebuilt my life again, it was taken away and I was in another world.

Which begs the question: When does it end?

Sort of bare bones, and there is almost no actual perks but instead just equipment. Flesh out the scenarios like actually describing the opposition you'd face and what your doing and also add a "fuck order 66" save the jedi your supposed to kill from your clone brethren" and add some fluffy perks like super commando or a commander type perk and you'll be headed in the right direction, as is stands its pretty bad.

Companion options, such as being under Ashoka/Anakin and Commander Cody or Rex. Domino Squad?

There's only three perks. One of which does nothing but make you not look like Jango Fett (and requires you to be insane), one that gives you 5 extra troopers to go along with you, and one that allows you to... dual-wield? Is that amazing or something?

You also really need more drawbacks. Though honestly there's not really much to buy, so maybe it's not necessary until you add more to it.

So have I just gotten really lucky in the past? Because while I do agree that a lot are boring, I have read entertaining stories of the genre. Though I will admit that the best xianxia series I've read isn't Chinese, it's actually a Western series by the same guy who wrote the Traveler's Gate books. I'm thinking of doing a jump of it once a few more books are out, so far it's only on book three. It's really good, though. Characters with complex personalities interacting and clashing, really well-written fight scenes, one of the coolest cultivation systems I've seen, a really interesting world that it's all taking place in with hints of some bigger over-arching conflict it's all set within, and best of all, a main protagonist that's growing in power at a fast but plausible rate and that has a personality that I don't find incredibly grating.

Hell even the missions are too bare bones to really bother with. No intimate detail on clones, or companions, or anything.

I want to be positive anon. But I know for a fact that having a badass group of strom troopers that grow and become more awesome and individualized over time should have far more going for it than this. This feels more like a V 0.0001 of something barely past any kind note taking phase. Get back to it anon. I normally hate being this critical but you really deserve it with this.

It seems very angry with me. I feel like the fire I've been using to get here has something to do with that. Well, this is an excellent time to break out into song as I brandish the Bat and fight it out with the oversized golem. As easy as it'd be to burn the thing into a pile of slush, using too much heat this close to the castle would probably make it collapse and kill everyone inside…and I'm ostensibly on a rescue mission here, so that'd probably be counterproductive.

Even with this handicap, I make short work of the not-so-gentle giant with a few swings of my bat. Then it grows its body back. Ah, right. A snow monster in a blizzard is kind of like fighting a Gyrados in the middle of the ocean, isn't it? Running out of options and not wanting to exhaust myself, I decide to retreat and double back to where I came from. It didn't pursue me, just standing guard at the staircase leading into the castle before vanishing from sight.

That's when a redhead and a blonde guy showed up. There's a joke in there somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't think of one. It turns out the redhead is the Princess I saw earlier and the fellow in the winter clothes with a reindeer was assisting her. They also had a talking snowman. I tried my best to ignore him.

So is there a way to take large groups of refuges with you out of a setting? Not as companions but just as civilians? I know one of the idea's of jumpchain is to fix settings, but some of them (like dark souls or Cthulhu Mythos) are fucked at a fundamental level.

So, last night was a bit wilder than usual, and I ended up drinking pretty much my own weight in vodka, so I’m not too surprised when I wake up in a dumpster with a feeling like I picked a fight with a herd of elephants. The series as a whole is called "Cradle", after the name of the world it's set on. The books out so far are called Unsouled, Soulsmith, and Blackfire. They've got a pretty interesting premise, the protagonist is minor member of a clan from a backwater part of the world where advanced cultivation techniques are unknown, and on top of that he's got a birth defect inhibiting his cultivation. So he's pretty weak. But through some odd circumstances that I don't have the space to get into here, he's received knowledge that around fifty years from now a demon beast is going to awaken from its slumber, rampage across half the continent, and kill everyone he knows. So now he's set off into the wider world to meet powerful Sacred Artists and see if he can recruit any allies who will be able to stand against the demon beast where he can not. Though he's not skimping on his own training, the lands beyond the Sacred Valley have much better cultivation techniques than his homeland, and even if he's still weaker than all the other main characters he's finally managing to overcome his birth defect and gain some measure of real power. I really like that he's an underdog, he's actually having to struggle for his power instead of just getting it handed to him. Makes it all the more satisfying at the end of book three when he's finally actually kind of strong after he spent the first two books surviving fights mostly through sheer refusal to go down and a desperate willingness to use anything as a weapon.

I asked them to look at my tattoo, but aside from looking ominous and carrying 'the air of a curse', they couldn't tell me what it was, what it meant, or even get it off my back. Figures.

Diminishing returns never made sense. Working out what you could do became even more of a chore, there was little point getting the less powerful versions of a perk as they'd hardly buff you, it punished trying to specialize and therefore punished having a theme in a lot of cases, and finally perks being incommensurable and combos being generally more OP than stacking the same perk made diminishing returns almost entirely pointless in terms of keeping power levels down anyway.

Shit, I wish I had saved it but I read a really solid greentext on TES Flame Atronachs that dealt with this very issue. The crux of it, no, not that crux, was that Flame Atronachs come from a plane of fire, so when they make it out into TESs equivalent of the material plane it's all cold and static. With Elsa in tow, we began to make our way back to the Kingdom proper. I didn't know if PSI Teleport would work properly if I tried to bring her along while she had no PSI of her own, and I didn't want to complicate matters further. It gives us time to talk and compare our experiences a little bit. True to her element, she's very guarded and takes time for small-talk to actually happen, but I guess she eventually figured out I really did mean what I said. Things were…progressing a lot more smoothly than I was used to, after failing to reach Giegue. Maybe it's just how confident I'm getting with all of this adventure?

Then, with the castle town barely visible in the distant blizzard, we encountered Hans and several armed guards. Hans seemed relieved that we were returning to the Kingdom and thanked me for my help…but a quick read of his mind put me on my guard. I attempted to politely decline his offer of an escort, but he was increasingly impatient and insistent. Elsa took a step back, as if preparing to flee a second time. I activated PSI Reflect on both of us and I brandished my bat. Hans would try to look reasonable to the end, even as he took a step back as the guards drew their crossbows and fired. I stood between them and Elsa, the psychic barrier absorbed the force of the bolts before tossing them back to the guards, knocking them back down into the ground. Their groans of pain told me they were still alive. Hans realized he had bitten off more than he could chew and would raise his hands in surrender, saying he had no idea that they'd do that.

Key word: Tried. I punched him in the face again and goaded him to perform an act of 'true love' to save the freezing Anna. Predictably, with everyone watching and me ready to set him on fire at the first sign of trouble. Anna was more than a bit heartbroken at this at realizing Hans didn't actually love her, leaving her seemingly doomed. Elsa wanted to help and to stop this, looking at her sister in despair. I held the ember in my hand close to Anna - I didn't want to try and undo the curse for fear of setting the poor girl on fire, but I encouraged Elsa. I compared my experiences learning how my own powers (at least, in Mother) worked and told her that she could save Anna - she just needed to affirm her own love for her estranged sister.

Sure enough, the curse was broken, and the long snowfall ended. And I felt a little bit like a hero. Maybe things would have fixed on their own, though? I don't know, I feel good about this experience, I'm not shooting myself down at a moment like this.

I thought keepers were their hearts in the games and they just can make more of themselves to spread influence. In the newest game the keepers come from and are banishes to another world and exist as spiritual entities, the underlord is the overseer there. So, peace returned to the Kingdom, Anna learned not to accept proposals from random strangers, Elsa learned to control her powers, and I learned that punching royalty in the face is a really good time. Still, I had the gratitude of the young Queen and the Kingdom as a whole, while Hans was thrown into jail for suspected conspiracy. A feast was thrown in celebration of the Queen's return and the end of the long blizzard. It was a great time. But…I knew I'd probably disappear again. I was watching the days carefully, and I didn't want to get too attached to where my absence would leave a hole behind. So, I made up a story about having a journey to go on, and I said my goodbyes. They asked me if I was sure I wanted to go. With some hesitation, I said yes, and promised I wouldn't forget them. The feeling was mutual.

I'll miss them.

This time, I kept count. And at the turn of the decade, I vanished again.

Dungeon Hearts in the first two games were litterally the end point of becoming a Lich+ where your body is gone and you have fused with your Dungeon Heart which allows you to basically be a part of the Dungeon itself. You /were/ a person but then you became one with the Dungeon. Dungeon Hearts beyond your first are dummy Hearts, which won't kill you if they're borked, and there was a throwaway line in 1 where a Rival Keeper gave two other Keepers their Hearts because of them being his kkids or something like that.

Those drawbacks tho', some of them really should be 200cp or more given how much of an apparent death sentance they are, and on that subject why are many of the missions telling you outright that they are suicide missions with no hope of success? There should always be a chance of the jumper succeeding - it should be difficult and demanding and a general slog, but always always possible otherwise it's basically a trap.
All in all, it seems fine but still needs some polish.
Oh, and the issue with some weapons needing to be unlocked needs to clarified earlier in the doc. Maybe that's just me though...

Thanks for the new Jump my man, looks pretty good. I would've commented in past threads, but I'd been taking a break from /jc/. I remembering trying to watch J.A.K.Q. a few months ago. It almost feels surreal. The fight choreography and the way shots and scenes lead into each other is so weird.

Also, this is going really late in my Chain, so I'm pretty sure that I can actually create enough individuals separate from myself as to be able to pilot team Mecha all by our lonesome.
