Game becomes even more bland. Though to be fair most of the other races are essentially rerolling humans/animal people and then making the trait default.

Fine as long as they don't get autistic about their precious setting. I personally wouldn't join their games.

It's a matter of setting and tone. Some people like no-magic games. Some people like gritty games. Some people like comedy games. If it fits the game you're going for, I don't see why it would be a problem. Just make sure the players want to play the same game the GM wants to run.

Humans should always be the only race.

More games should do this.

As it stands, most of my fantasy gaming these days is either OSR, or various Sword and Sorcery RPGs and in either case, I absolutely do not, even slightly, miss the insane medley of races you tended to see in 3.5/Pathfinder parties.

In regards to DnD and Pathfinder? Pretty dumb choice. But high fantasy isn't all that great anyway.
If it's space western or Lovecraft or cyberpunk on the other hand I don't want any playable alien/mutant/whatever races. The core is to explore how humans would react in the face of expanding horizons, and a bunch of fucking aliens dilutes that motiff.

My dm did this but he made separate stats for the various cultures. We could choose to use the generic human but no one does.

I always do this. My games take place in the human lands. A PC can play a non human but when they do they face extreme prejudice
