Arbites only enforce imperial laws. Imperial laws literally don't care about what individuals do as long as they worship the emperor and don't harbor xenos. Now whether the local authorities care is an entirely different story, but considering they have many tens of thousands of planets that all run under different local governments, a very, very significant portion of humanity is free to carry whatever they can actually get their hands on.

This has been done to death, but to reiterate.

>Tau trained for war from birth.
>Given gyro-stabilized weapons and helmets with aim assist
>Put through combat simulations constantly
Fire Warrior. 4+ ballistic skill, 5+ weapon skill

>Human trained for war from birth
>Given hellgun with iron sight and a photo-visor
>Trained in war games
Tempestus Scion. 3+ Ballistic Skill, 4+ Weapon Skill

When the Imperium puts in a similiar amount of effort into making soldiers, their soldiers are objectively superior to the Tau, even when the Tau use Aim Assist.
>>
>>55111436
Pound for pound, a Fire Warrior is a better soldier than a Guardsman. Possibly not a Scion, before you start factoring in battlesuits anyway.

Not that anon, but yeah, I've always thought that's pretty much true due to the outrageous expense that goes into making a whole million Marines, designing all their thousand types of unique expensive wargear and wasting thousands of people on trials just to get a few better soldiers out of it. A million Marines is a miniscule number to deal with the whole galaxy, and for the cost of that you could probably stick a few extra Guard Companies on every planet and kill that one Marine per world with meltaguns. It's not like you really need Marines for the surgical strikes they always do, takes very little of a Chapter's absurd resources to drop in some Termies and stab some guys, and you could do that with Scions.

I know the lore loves to wank them all the time, but given what we know about killing Marines (AKA: heavy weapons do it just fine) they're really not worthwhile.

I don't know much outside of the Eldar. Why do people like Tau so much, and why do people like Imperial Guard so much?
>>
>>55114437

People like Tau because let's face it, mech suits are cool as shit, and Pulse Rifles are pretty much among somd of the best basic infantry weapons in the game.

Imperial Guard is fairly popular because they have some of the best, most versatile tanks in the whole game -at least for their price-, and can be deadly when fielded en masse and given orders. They're also normal humans, which helps. There's also a good degree of potential for making personal touches to your army too.
>>
>>55114539
Interesting. Tau sound pretty nice. What do people like about the lore of the two, and how much room for Your Dudes with Tau?
>>
>>55114437
>>55114596
Being somewhat vaguely good/optimistic, relative to 40k factions. Evil in any other universe, which is what makes Tau such a nice addition. The good guy of 40k is the villain of any other universe.

A bit of your dudes, fluff up your own <Sept> or headcannon stuff for a minor <Sept> or renegades group (Enclaves)
>>
>>55114596

Well, they both have a reputation for being underdogs within the setting. The Tau are a fairly young, small, but technologically advanced race that are basically the only thing 40k has that would qualify as 'good guys' within the setting. They're masters of long ranged warfare, with some of the longest ranges for normal infantry weapons at their disposal.

The Imperial Guard, on the other hand, have basically been around since the Imperium was formed, if you count the Imperial Army. The Imperial Guard is comprised of normal humans as soldiers, which makes it all the more satisfying when they win against foes that are drastically more powerful than them, at least on a one on one basis. The Guard's main strengths are typically numbers and how good their vehicles are.

As for the 'Your Dudes' potential with Tau, you could probably make a nice paint scheme for your own Tau sept, or even have some custom human models count as Fire Warriors. The Tau tend to have a lot of human auxiliaries, often times Guardsmen who deserted their units, or humans from Tau aligned worlds.

They where improving it.

They just are a bit daft sometimes.

Think of what the other races would have done to the space station.
>>
>>55114930
They still doomed an entire world for the keks.
>>
>>55114883
Most people at my LGS ignore lore outside of Space Marines.

>>55114807
That sounds amazing. I like Ghostkeels even more now.
>>
>>55114928
They are trying to help.

It's just that they are going about it in the wrong way.

It just depends on if you judge on intent or action.

Inquisition pet xenos for the humour
>hrud
Irrelevancy aside, projects a field of age the shit out of things causing rapid decay of anything nearby

>>
>>55114959
To be far most of those are either trying to help(illuminati) or are doing nothing(jokero, interex, hrud)

Not actively hurting anyone is pretty dang good for 40k
>>
>>55115005
Doing nothing cause you've been dead for 10k years isn't praise able.
Doing nothing that still causes things nearby to age to death isn't really great either.
Guess the monkeys you might be right about

Getting mad about the hruds field is like getting mad at a fighting ork.

Oh shit you've used one? Where did you get it? I'd like to get one myself.
>>
>>55114959
So how should I set up the Crisis Suits when I get them? They have way more options than I'm used to. Also, should I get a Ghostkeel right away?
>>
>>55115072
The thing about /k/ is that half of them would want the lasgun and half would want something like a bolter
>>
>>55115097
Best bet is to magnetize things so you can swap easily, assuming you're experienced and big on WYSIWYG.
No one is stopping you from getting a Keel, better to buy what you like than WAAC shopping list.
Balance will probably change a fair bit with the codex so don't do anything stupid and like buy 7 commanders.
>>
>>55115147
I'm very slightly experienced, but I haven't magnetized anything before. Would a list primarily consisting of Crisis Suits and Ghostkeels be viable in a meta full of Space Marines (I've seen every chapter but Raven Guard, Blood Angels, and Ultramarines)?
>>
>>55115174
Crisis suits are a bit mediocre right now, so suit spam won't be crushing too much. But it depends on how WAAC everyone wants to be
>>
>>55115213
That's a shame. Are Stealth Suits any good right now? Right now I'm looking at Ghostkeels + Pathfinder support.
>>
>>55114897
What's so bad about it?

Writing quality has very little to do with the hate Tau get, and in the measure it does it's still entirely disproportionate. Half the playerbase's answer to "what don't you like about Tau fluff" boils down to "they don't get on their knees and start sucking when Space Marines walk in".

Despite the government using nearly half of its spendings of some sort of entitlements program the poverty rate has more or less flatlined.

If "social programs" can eliminate poverty, the question remains:

When?

Furthermore, with all of this runaway spending the US has reached Debt:GDP numbers only seen during World War 2. And that was money spent to organize and fight the largest and most destructive war in history.

Currently the US government is spending similar amounts of money just to keep the lights on.

the fact that they don't really understand military structure or standards and just try and imitate it is an important similarity

So? Does the fact that some hippies in Washington still live on communes make that state, or America itself, an actual communist nation? Of course not, because out of the millions of people that make up America, they're just a small portion.

I bet the debt:GDP ratio would be a lot more reasonable if we stopped giving endless tax cuts to the rich, but what would I know about such things?

Unlikely considering that the rich already pay the lion's share of the governments tax income. A better solution would to not spend insane amounts of money on a totally unsustainable and ineffective system.
>>
>>55121466
Are you seriously arguing that making the people with more money pay more won't make the national debt go down because they're already the source of most of the income?
>>
>>55121545
No I'm saying that the hole is being dug faster than it can possibly be filled. France for example has taxes as high as 75% and their debt:GDP is only 10 points lower than the US.
>>
>>55121545
Social Security in the US is totally unsustainable. The system could work back in the 50's and 60's when there were ~10 tax payers for every pensioner, but now its closer to 2-3 tax payers for every pensioner.

And now with the boomers retiring, combined with lower fertility rates, means that there will be a huge surge of new pensioners without enough taxpayers to support them. So to pick up the slack the government needs to take out massive loans

And that's the fatal flaw of the system. It was made for a time when people would have 3-4 kids, instead of 1-2.
>>
>>55121649
France also has a completely different economic context than the US and you couldn't have cherrypicked a more suitable example for your argument if your tried. Germany or Nordic countries have the same expansive social programs in place and a much better control over their debt.
>>
Great plot twists, thread
>>
>>55122107
The IMF says that Germany's Debt:GDP is at 82%, the UK at 85%, and France at 90%. All seem to be in the same ballpark to me.

Sweden has fewer people than major cities
