What is the difference between East Asian magic and Western

European magic tends to be portrayed as the hermetic kind from the Rennaisance. East Asian magic is the Force.

Originally western magic was religion. They were hand in hand. Eastern magic separated earlier from religion and became philosophy long before the European Renaissance. So you could easily see it as a proto-science before western magic did the same thing.

Also a lot of eastern magic was attempting to change oneself, rather then one's environment. To perfect or immortalize oneself was often the point of many forms of eastern magic.
