You know. Like Conan the Barbarian.
>>
Like this, but in space and with tight lasers and cool helmets.
>>
>>55088242
So... kill the monster and I'll let you fuck me? That's what you're going for?
>>
>>55088350
Or do you just mean that the girls all wear spandex bodysuits, like how all the men wear weird padded rubber suits.
>>
>>55088350
>>55088424

These two things capture something of what I'm after.
>>
>>55088499
Kinda a weird thing to require in your RPGs, but you do you. I'm not here to kinkshame.

Most RPGs dont restrict female characters, but that's something you can easily homebrew in. Other than the gender stuff, what you're looking for is a Space Opera RPG.
I've heard good things about Stars Without Number, give that a try.
>>
>>55088598
Isn't saying "I'm not here to kinkshame" in essence just kinkshaming?
>>

savage+worlds+slipstream+front.jpg
86KB, 600x600px
You could also try Slipstream for Savage Worlds. I'm not a huge fan of the system. But that's just me. Also, if Space Opera as a term doesn't work for you how about Pulp Sci-Fi.
And it has the feel you are looking for already built in. But honestly Anon. What you are looking for could be provided by just about any sci-fi RPG system. Since what you are going for is the aesthetic and feeling of the setting. Which is for the most part divorced from the rules.
>>
>>55088833

Also, it's a philosophy, not some weird sex thing.
>>
>>55088598
>>55088882

Isn't Space Opera some grandiose and pompous thing where some clean and shiny hero saves the galaxy through honourable deeds? I'm looking for something a little less epic and a little more ambiguous.

>Pulp Sci-Fi
What is this?
>>
>>55088895
The philosophy of "women are there to look pretty and fuck me"?

Seems like a sex thing to me, but whatever man.
>>
>>55088918
Not really? I mean, grandiose maybe, but not pompous. A lot of popular Sci-Fi is a subset of Space Opera. Mass Effect 1 (not the sequels as much), Star Wars, The Last Starfighter.

What kind of Sci Fi are you trying to emulate exactly?
>>
>>55088918
Space opera is just melodramatic. Can be shinny or gritty. Main thing is special people who have large impact in the setting and their relations.
>>
>>55088160
I don't understand, play pretend doesn't have a defined aesthetic.
>>
>>55088918
Pulp sci fi is the genre of sci fi printed in pulp magazines.

Broadly put, a form of escapism with an emphasis on using technology and cleverness to solve problems.
>>
>>55089048
>What kind of Sci Fi are you trying to emulate exactly?

I want lots of monsters--almost all aliens should be monstrous. I want lots of women. I want technology to be secondary, or perhaps even tertiary. I want a lone hero that can ascend from utter thrallhood to god-king through sheer strength of will. I want a shattered universe that has seen much better days. I want space-travel to be somewhat rare. I want the galaxy to be filled with strange cults and religions. I want Interplanetary empires to be weak. And so on.
>>
>>55089344
So... sword and planet style sci-fi?
How many players are you looking at for this game? That genre tends to focus on singular heroes more than a group of them.
>>
>>55089344
>I want lots of women
Like, more than 50% of the general population?
>>
>>55089412
>How many players

Three players.
A hero, a companion, and a concubine.
>>
>>55088598
Are we really at the point where attractive women are considered a niche fetish?
>>
>>55089472
No, but all women wearing spandex and wanting to screw the hero is. Specifically the spandex part.
>>
>>55089466
That sounds boring for one player and REALLY boring for another player.

They all agreed to this?
>>
>>55089598
>They all agreed to this?

Not yet, but they will.
>>
>>55089344
Settingwise check out sword & planet stuff. John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Green Star Series by Lin Carter or the Planet Of Adventure by Jack Vance. They're short, you can read one in an afternoon and go from there. Just describe everyone in puritan no-skin-but-naked suits and it should be all good. Put some hexagons on shit so its more contemporary.

Stainless Steel Rat series, Dorsai!, early delany stuff all would work fine too.
>>
>>55089741
Yeah, that's not the least bit worrying.

Anyway, go with Fate. You're playing off Genre Conventions, and Fate turns those conventions into actual mechanics. Slap a retrofuturism skin on it and you're good to go.

>>
>>55092977
Yeah, and it's weird to ask for an RPG that caters to your sexual preferences. Most RPGs don't have rules for that, it's assumed that the sexual content will vary from table to table. OP wants a system that has a specific sexual dynamic built into the game itself.
>>
>>55093288
It can be done though! Pull a Dune and have shields that react violently to the laser guns.

Space Opera is character drama in space. Star Trek - the original Star Trek from the sixties - is both the popularizer of the genre and still one of the best (as in well done) examples. The basic idea is that a regular cast of crew members with strong opinions and interesting relationships go around bumping into weird space crap which inevitably leads to personal dilemmas, conflicts of interest, etc.

I am always a little irked when Space Opera is brought up, because this definition is often conflated with other, similar genres of space fiction (Traveller isn't Space Opera, it's Military Sci-fi ala Heinlein.)

Not only are you wrong for thinking that way, you're also sexist for still desiring un-capable damsels in your entertainment.
>>
>>55114592

Not that guy, but why is it sexist? I like strong heroes interspersed with helpless normies for both genders, because it's reasonable that not everyone can be badass and it makes the ones that are stand out. Why can't I have normal women along with warrior women to make the warrior women shine more just like I have normal men along with my warrior men to make them seem more heroic. Just saying "if you ever have a woman who is helpless then you are sexist" is kind of bullshit.

I think the double standard in this case runs a bit deeper than that. A hypersexualized male body is seen (confusingly enough) as less inherently sexual (and in a more positive way, at that) than the female body.
>>
>>55118791
Only because men appreciate the effort that goes into maintaining a body like that and admire those who succeed with it.

Meanwhile women will be dying of jealousy and look for opportunities to tear each other down while projecting the hatred on men to rationalize it.

Psionics/Magic as the basis of FTL should give this to you.

Before current time a mighty human empire was built with psionic nobility as its main pillar. They could route whole companies by themselves, fight against a spaceship (albeit small) naked and they could pierce the space-time allowing for fast and effective FTL. With them Empire flourished.

But then a couple of alien species that envied the might of the Empire made a secret coalition. Through bribes, blackmail or intimidation they gathered under their banner other weaker species and using them as meatshields they waged war upon the Empire.

In the end humans won, scattering aliens over the stars and crushing their nations. But Empire too didn't come out of the war unscathed. Nobles were the backbone of Empire's Spacey and as such they were almost always on the front. Many bloodlines either completely perished or were greatly diminished. No longer Empire could keep control of all their worlds. Outer provinces either split or were demanding some kind of autonomy. Pirates and warlords were lurking in the shadows. And aliens even though beaten were trying to make a new plan to bring the Empire down.

...

So a character could be a minor noble or say son of a noble's bastard with psionic abilities.

I think the argument goes hyper masculine bodies aren't by default seen as sexual. Sure hetero women and gay men can sexualize it, but hetero men can also find it appealing for the power it conveys. It's a double fantasy, people can fantasize being or being with, depending on their tastes.

Hyper feminine figures, so the argument goes, do not have the associated power that goes with them. They are, by default, sexualized. Now you can empower the sexuality, ala Bayonetta, Black Widow, etc, but that would be empowering the sexual aspect and not feminine aspect.

Whether or not this argument holds water to you is up to you.
>>
>>55138702

aka, there's a double standard and no way to win the argument, since a female power fantasy evidently doesn't exist.

It also ignores the point that any image of a female who is of "average" attractiveness or greater is sexualized by default - as long as you can tell it's a female, and she's not hideously ugly or grossly obese, she's GOING to be sexualized by the male audience, whether the artist intends her to be or not. The only way to avoid that is to simply stop depicting women in artwork.

>>55138509

Not really. Kinkshaming is saying "your kink is bad".

The argument is that Superman's costume doesn't have a cut out area around his dick with just enough material to hide his throbbing erection (which is always drawn as turgid in ever panel).

Nah, it would be hypersexualization to a degree that makes straight dudes feel uncomfortable. Dicksock would also be part of the outfit.

And almost every pose would be traced from gay porn.

The spacesuits of the future might be totally alien-looking.

>Instead of the bulky-looking spacesuits that astronauts wear today, a group of MIT researchers want to "shrink-wrap" the spaceflyers of tomorrow. Current spacesuits could be replaced by a pressurized but skintight suit that would allow for a much better range of motion during exploration, according to scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
>With conventional spacesuits, you're essentially in a balloon of gas that's providing you with the necessary one-third of an atmosphere [of pressure] to keep you alive in the vacuum of space," MIT professor Dava Newman said in a statement. [See more images of MIT's Biosuit design]

The retro artists ironically got it right.
>>
>>55153193
>"We want to achieve that same pressurization, but through mechanical counterpressure — applying the pressure directly to the skin, thus avoiding the gas pressure altogether," she added. >The arguments for "THIS is what an equally sexualized male would look like"

There isn't an equivalent equally-sexualized male that can't ALSO be seen as a positive male power fantasy, though. It's an argument that's impossible to win.
>>
>>55138702
This is what people think, but the truth is IRL women feel extremely powerful when they have sexual power over men.
Subconsciously women don't view power as only "forcing people to do stuff or you'll punch them" - they know intuitively that being able to sway people and receive free stuff and preferential treatment, is at least just as real a form of power.
Just smiling and giving someone a hug can be so valuable to a man that they subconsciously feel like they've been given something and are now in your debt.
Of course it doesn't work on everyone, but it works on by far the majority of men - even the ones who think they're "alpha".

The problem comes from the fact that men don't get that, and women aren't in a hurry to tell them, so society as a whole buys into the bizarre assumption that being desired is not a form of power.

There were only two 'strong' women in Robert E. Howard's Conan stories and both of them needed his help more than he needed theirs. He even had to rescue one of them (Valeria).

Which, to me, is sensible. You don't really find strong warrior women in most societies.

As a practical matter, they're only sexually-desirable to gay men.

The real problem is that there's a single archtype that's generally considered a power fantasy for men. The strong, he-man-style body build (though he-man is taken to the extreme). There ISN'T a single overriding equivalent archetype for women, because women have a gigantic range of attributes they see as desirable, and it varies so heavily from woman to woman.

The fact that they have those two is how cucks are crated. If they had any more polyandry would be the standard for humans.

The monsters in Mr. Howard's stories were never so trivial, nor were the situations so contrived. The art from many (most?) publications always imply such eroticism; but isn't it obvious why? As to the narrative attitude of the actual gender dynamics in the stories: almost all the women were competent, self possessed beings who would invariably become attracted to the sullen barbarian to various degrees. They only became quailing, fainting dead weight when faced with ACTUAL monsters the likes of which overlap the primordial, degenerate, and eldritch. I highly recommend reading these stories.
