If lore written for a game is too disconnected from the actual game, it is bad lore.
That's why 40k is a shining example of terrible lore, because there is no way to reconcile the lore with what takes place at the table.

40k lore is terrible for a million other reasons.

>the space marines are fighting eldar because they fucking hate eldar and that's what they do
wow so disconnected
You can say that about so many games. As a Malifaux player I can honestly say that 40K is on the fluffier side of things as far as game abstractions go. Only some historicals really close that gap significantly.

This is why GW should have dropped Codex: Space Marine and just rolled with Codex: Movie Marines.
The more is a bunch of autists flailing at each other and calling them weak doodoo heads.
How is that different from what happens at the table?

Not tabletop, but Overwatch's lore doesn't let the fucking game itself be canon.

In Malifaux at least I feel the fluff and crunch match up fairly well
Obviously Pandora flying miles at a time doesn't happen when she has an enemy kill themselves but her free push is still a pretty well reflected concept. Though that probably has alot to do with Malifaux initially being a straight wargame instead of a setting and game
