What aesthetic queues could I use to make a unique looking Malal CSM army?
Using regular marine kits here and there and defacing aquilae and adding lots of bullet-holes and gouges from claws or weapons on the armour for a newly fallen renegade chapter, but what are some themes I can run with? Kits/bits to use?

Malal's stuff is usually subverted amusing tropes of D&D monsters.
His hook horrors exist to make people like Cato Sicarius Suffer via constant cockblocking, he has firebreathing Dragon rats which are a play on the trope of PC's starting out with rats and ending with Dragons, and his Greater Daemons are like bigger versions of Bloodletters skilled in Assassinating other Daemon Princes or Greater Daemons, or capturing them for anti-self tortures. Next to the Parasitic Warp-Gear that absorbs warp energy like a sponge returning the old natural order to the Warp before Malal's displacement, they're a pretty hard to beat crew.
Sons of Malice are silent as to not satisfy the portfolios of the other Chaos Gods, but they presumably work in code or actual military tactics and partake in ritual cannibalism on slaves they capture in raids in an amusing ritual of parisitism and power gain.
You'd be interested in the like of D&D Devourer models, Infernal Models, or Malal-thrall versions of existing Daemons who have had qualities removed from them, like a depressed looking Daemonette devoid of sensation or sexual form, simplistic non-dynamic lords of change that aren't fucking rainbow birds, and Khorne daemons that look like all their gains were energy drained away from them next to skipping leg day.

This is the kind of conceptual shit I was after - thanks for giving me your take.
Admittedly I'm a bit of a sucker for muhreens - any thoughts on them, insofar as thematics are concerned?
