I figure angels should have a corresponding ordering effect on human thought, if nothing else. I'm pretty sure there was mentions of tumors and illness when Philistines stole the Ark. Also, I remember it was said that god struck down (which happens many times in Old Testament) those who touched it rather than Ark, but the Ark itself also had ill effects of it's own.
