>DM a massive sprawling epic campaign
>Lots of political intrigue, economic problems, and mythical monsters
>Party walks through a snowy field, I roll for a random encounter and get an obscure two-headed dog monster
>Someone rolls for monster lore
>I basically just read the description, which is "their heads bark at the same time and they're born when Cerberus fucks a normal dog"
It's been years and the only thing anyone remembers from my campaign was the double-barking dogs. The others still make fuck of it.

Ya know, that'd look good in something like STALKER.

sounds like it wasn't that epic if the only memorable portion is dog fucking
>massive sprawling epic
>lots of political intrigue
>It's been years and the only thing anyone remembers from my campaign was the double-barking dogs

At least they remembered something. My players can't even remember the last session, most of the time.
Really, though, you shouldn't be that shocked. If the game was super serious, epic, or whatever, of course the utterly bizarre and tone clashing "double-barking Cerberus fuck-dog" is going to stand out. Plus, if this is literally the only thing that they remember, that campaign may only have been epic in your head.
