Well I played vs Underworld as Ogres. I got good armour rolls and made his team fall apart. They seem pretty straight forward. Keep Snotlings out of tackle zones, kill with Ogres.

AV 8 is a big issue on a player that expensive, frenzy and mighty blow are awesome but throwing lots of dice without block can bite you back, especially taking loner into account.
Some teams will dodge away and force you to blitz, and losing your blitz to a 1 SUCKS. Tentacles is a fantastic skill and mitigates this situation a lot, but you'll need to rank him up first.

That said, the minotaur is an absolute murder machine. Truly the wildest ride.

thing is once you have a claw mighty blow player the minotaur does literally nothing better. it only works on a 2+ when you hit or blitz, can't use rerolls, and has av8 which is worse than a warrior. it's also more expensive so it bloats. the only thing it does better is it can get 3 dice easier with st5 horns. maybe if you're in a short league and need early claw mb, but in perpetual it's just awful even if it rolls doubles and gets block

I have two rather decent throwers, and two fairly decent catchers. I'm thinking about getting a third catcher for my team.

That's plenty. 14 Players is a good number, perhaps too many depending on how the rest of your team is developed.

Remember that you can only field 11 players at a time, and that the stronger your team is, the more inducements your opponent can afford. Those inducements can sometimes make a bigger difference than the extra bodies, so it's usually best to keep your team trimmed.

What's more, if you ever find yourself in the situation where you are getting inducements, you limit yourself by having too large of a roster - the maximum number of players you can bring is 16, and this includes any star players or mercenaries acquired through inducements. Bringing a roster of 15 before inducements mean you only have one slot for any star players you'd want.

That's tough mainly because there are a lot of set ups which an opponent can have on defense or offense. Normally what I like to do is

n=Nurgle Warrior/Bloater
R=Rotter
P=Pestigor
B=Beast of Nurgle

Its not the best but I find that works as it allows your defence to gradually squeeze the opponent when you are on defense, no matter which side they commit. It also lets you put your Beast where you need him.

Offense is sadly a different story and really depends on the opponent. I would suggest Warriors on the front to knock gits over, your pestigor at the rear supported/screened by two rotters. The Beast can be placed on the LOS but I would only use him to mark up to two str 3 players to keep them pinned.

Anyone else notice certain traits of people who play certain teams? Dwarf coaches I find tend to completely fall apart at the seams if you have even a decent mind how to outmonouver or outposition them. But on top of that, they also have a generally poorer than average positioning game than other people who play certain teams.

No worries have fun. Ya the BB2 interface is a bit more user friendly if only that the single player is also a pseudo tutorial. If you are brand new, work on the hunans then branch out.

Took me ages to learn as I started with a fun/joke team.

Also don't fall for the Chaos trap, they are super cool and fun but quite hard to play for beginners cause they start weak. If you still want to play them knowing that, go ahead.

Lastly have fun and enjoy among the most enjoyable and rage inducing game you could play.

I like the cut of your jib! Its the only Chaos Roster I use anyway.

But the attraction of Ogres is a whole season of not needing to think and just beat the tar out of things.

On the flip side with Chaos I actually can try to compete though with potentially very short season if one of my Warriors or big Bovine goes down too early.

I've managed to get a friend into BB2 the PC. He is brand new and while he has an idea of the concept of assists, I need to help him understand more clearly the idea of tackle zones, screening and positioning.

He has started with Dwarfs which he loves. So, any 5 minute tip summaries I could give to a complete newb?

He's played two games with me and I went easy so he can get to grips. He does but roughly 40%.

So how can I explain some of the more complex positional aspects to him? Tackle zones particularly (he understands, its just setting up screens)

Well Dwarves don't screen, they skirmish. But play an elf team against him so he learns how important it is to surround the ball well while you explain your actions as you do then.

Question for you experienced BB types - I'm making an orc team, everything I've seen suggests four blitzers and four black orcs, yet GW in their infinite wisdom decided to give us two of each and a shitload of linemen. I don't really want to end up with two sets of four identical minis, so I need to find some substitute minis or do some converting of all those linemen. Anyone seen some good examples?

If you have some extra bitz lying around like talons off Tyranids or armour pads, you could probably just convert the linemen into Blitzers and Black Orcs. Blitzers could have a pair of sharp, large gauntleted spikes and Black Orcs you just throw as much plate on them as possible.

Also the colour scheme could work. Red helmets for Blitzers and dark metallic grey for Black Orcs. Its cheaper than buying a box or waiting for an order.

Squish snotlings, big guys are bullys, strong but without skills to protect them, gang up on them and foul with thralls. Have the vampires keep their distance from them and dodge and run away.

Take bribes, a wizard and if you can afford it a Halfling master chef as they need their rerolls even more than you. Even a few spare thralls if you can.

Lizards are very strong, their weakness is skinks. That being said they are also both playing good teams, but Lizards are one of the best teams to beat new players with.

Actually, low TV is when they're at their weakest, when the Saurus are unreliable without basic skills. They're great at 1500-1700 as well, but start to fall off a bit after that as teams with Claw access can start removing Saurus with a full killstack, and other teams start picking up Tackle to deal with the Skinks more easily.

Lizardmen are terrible at handling the ball until skinks are levelled up
Skinks are fragile but practically the only players on the team that can take possession of the ball at all

Saurus dont have any starting skills, notably block, teams that do have starting skills can get them grounded with a bit of difficulty at TV1000 and then build momentum wiping out your skink reserves

You probably shouldn't be playing Lizards against new players when you have some experience though
