Its difficult to whip up enough for a big game, but little games aren't so bad.

Do you recruit online?

>Ask your friends if they are interested in playing
>Find a flgs and see what nights they have D&D groups
>Most colleges have /tg/ clubs
>If desperate enough, put an add on a local forum, like craigslist.

Yeah most of the players and groups you will find will be shit, but most D&D players are. Keep contact with the good players, and keep looking till you find a group that works for you. Unless you are in a rural area it really isn't that hard.

Ask a few friends individually. Ifenough express interest bring them together and see how it pans out.
And hey presto, you've got yourself a group there pardner

Local universities usually have tonnes of related clubs.

Posters in comic shops.

If that fails, www.penandpapergames.com, meetup.com and enworld.org.

I actually found a player trolling here on /tg/.

Have friends. It's always worked for me.

This, basically. I mean, it's fundamentally a social hobby; one of the things I love about it is that it gives you a reason to see people every week. The regularity of it, I mean, friendships with other adults benefit from that; we don't all have classes together or whatever to bond at like back in the day.

I asked my friends who would be interested in running a campaign, they asked their friends who would want to join us, and now I'm a new GM who needs to handle parties of six or more if I don't start turning people away.

I joined the loser nerd club at uni and I've been playing with the same group (Give or take a member or two) for almost 9 years.

Man, I wish I had your problem, DnD/PF players in my city are everywhere. Want to play a different game? impossible, nobody DMs or wants to play it.
