Hey /tg/
What are a few missions for a squadron of mercenary pilots? I made a thread a few days back and got a few good ideas:
>Attack a diamond mine providing blood diamonds to an insurgency
>Find and destroy a rocket artillery camp in the jungle, destroying outposts along a river
>A corporate CEO has to travel to dangerous territory to make a business deal, escort his plane in and out of the area of operations
>Two nations are having peace talks, and are going to make an announcement of a ceasefire with a ceremonial flyby. This is bad for business, intercept and take the place of the planes from country A and shoot down country B's planes during the flyby
>Hired to maintain a no-fly zone by the UN, but everyone in the conflict is willing to bribe them to let certain things slide

Attack enemy air fields. Even a light prop trainer can massacre fighter jets if they're aren't in the air.
>>
Patrol a coastline for smugglers. Call out any boats to the local coast guard and sink any that try to run.

Prevent the launch of a missile by flying inside a giant underground base large enough for several planes to fly in and maneuver a little.
The best approach is through a valley filled with AA guns, SAM sites and enemy aircrafts.
>>
Attack a mock-up base set up by nation A to give them casus belli to attack nation B

followed by a mid-air jousting match.

Maybe you can get some ideas from the original Planes n' Mercs

>>
>A large secret military satellite has been damaged and is falling back to Earth, fly up to it as and destroy as much of it as possible while it's still over international waters to prevented classified technology from being salvaged.

>Alert! A pilot has stolen an advanced aircraft is attempting to fly across the ocean to defect to another country! We don't want word of this getting out into the international community so that's why we're outsourcing this to you. Get this done as quickly and with as little noise as possible and you'll get double your usual rate.

>The Northern Alliance has been threatening our northern trade routes for quite some time. Our military may be small and unable to act outside our borders, but that doesn't include you! Show them that no one is beyond our reach!

I'm sort of obsessed with using mercenaries to exploit loopholes and circumvent international law. Can't be held accountable if a group of unaffiliated pilots are sighted in international waters and you can just lump all expenses for civilian contract work together in the annual expense report.

That's what inspired me to run this game initially, I modified Air War C21 to have more pilot skill stuff, and made some basic algorithms to assign costs to planes/munitions.

Belka removed itself already. :^)))

This might be a good place to find some inspiration.

You are hired to bomb a small freighter convoy that departed from Malaysia a week ago and is suspected to be en route to deliver arms and munitions to the Houthi insurgency in western Yemen. While the freighters are technically registered as vessels owned by a legitimate Malaysian firm, it is believed that the firm acts as a front for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The Saudis want to be able to deny any involvement in the raid.
or
The Houthi rebels have been hammered by coalition air strikes and now they want the pro-Hadi forces to have to keep their heads down for a change. Houthi forces are massing for an assault on the city of Taiz, and want you to bomb the pro-government command station there. Secondary targets might include the highway leading south towards Al Misrakh.

Another PMC subcontracts your squadron to provide air support against a local militia they've been hired to clear out.

>made some basic algorithms to assign costs to planes/munitions.

Sounds interesting.
Can you elaborate a bit more?

Crossover episodes:
>Steal experimental plane(s) from airfield using espionage tactics. Must be pilots to fly planes, so can't send normal spies.
>Transport plane containing PCs is damaged and must ditch over South America. SERE ensues.
>Gotta impress bigwig client at fancy party. Hot springs episode, or possibly attacked by ninjas
>Management see no profit in helping old friend with local bumpkin problem (moonshiners, meth empire, etc). PCs must use cropdusters and A-Team munitions to defeat smalltime enemies.
>PCs are with their planes on a cargo ship, when a saboteur strikes. Deductive logic, blood tests and flamethrowers ensue.
>Drones undergo unexpected AI rampancy and failsafes don't work. PCs called in to sterilise this embarrassing incident.

Goad countries A and B into racing their shiny next-gen superjets over hostile country C in competition for a lucrative mass-purchase contract

Then steal the superjets for fun and profit
