Hey any all yall know about any mech centered rpgs? I've been having trouble finding any. Most interesting one I've seen is dragonmech, but I really don't feel like relearning 3.5.
No mech games?
Palladium RPG
Mekton Zeta
Heavy Gear
Jovian ChroniclesD&D4e

Is there any such thing as a rules-light mech game? Mekton Zeta is noted as having a super high level of crunch especially, and it seems most mech focused games are pretty crunchy. Would it even be possible to have a rules light mech rpg?

check yourself before your wreck yourself, explain that last one.

Mekton zeta's is pretty crunchy, but most of it comes from the Mekton building. The actual game itself is a fair balance between crunch and fluff, not a bloar of rules you will never use and enough wiggle space to tamper with them or get into the narrative.
Also makton zeta has the possible advantage that it's ostly setting free and provides how thing work in the mechanical way. Your Mekton with overdrive mode could achive it by supercharging a fission generator or by using a dragons heart to power it.

RIFTS has a ton of mechs although their stats are pretty basic, with nothing like Battletech's rules for torso twist & falling down etc.

Robotech is more space mechs, but it's mechs.

Chris Perrin's Mecha is that. Its more focused on mecha anime as a genre than crunch, has cut scenes as a mechanic. The generic rules can put together basically whatever you need from militaryish real robots to nimblehuge planet sized things. The rules are alright, I found them a bit lacking for long term play, we added terrain to the abstract combat map and that helped quite a bit.

Battle Century G or Chromestrike. Both do mechs a lot easier than Mekton does

Oh wait, Battle Century G does this too and with less autism

Apotheosis Drive X is a FATE system game, that's pretty rules-lite.

I looked at it, was disappointed. Personally I'd use Mecha vs Kaiju instead, but give both a look.

I tried to work on one a few years back. Title was "Walking Thunder" and the focus was generic western mecha.
Used a dicepool system where the number of dice you rolled was determined by the mech's stat, and the number you needed to roll was determined by the pilot's stat. So, for example, a melee attack used the mech's Gearing and the pilot's Prowess.
I got bogged down in the mech construction rules and stopped working on it though.

Mutants and Masterminds works quite well for generic mecha adventures.
