It probably wouldn't affect the battlefield in any way, but it would be used in sieges. Though gunpowder was already occasionally used to destroy walls, so the method probably just becomes more effective.

If you have nitroglycerin you probably also have nitrocellulose (guncotton), which together with a stabilizer (like petroleum jelly) make double-base smokeless propellant. It's not something you'd be greatly able to capitalize on without the accordant advances in metallurgy, but you'd have guns nonetheless.
