How does it feel to know that grenades in Starfinder are reusable RAW and can be Returning?

The last thing I want is a returning grenade, are you fucking stupid?
>pull pin

>>
>>54762635
Its an impact grenade. It explodes when it hits something. I don't know why the other grenade still has the pin in it though.
>>
>>54762689
So it if blow up when it is on the ground and again when it smack into your face?
>>

That's an awfully realistic pistol for what looks like an airsoft fight.
>>
>>54762580
It doesn't feel like anything. No one plays with RAW except autists on /tg/.
>>

Why would an impact grenade even have a pin?
>>

So it doesn't explode while you're carrying it?

That's because Alchemist's Fire explodes when shattered, not just from an errant bump or particularly vicious jostle.

Impact grenades are not designed to break like alchemist's fire. They are supposed to go off when they hit the ground, even if that ground is soft dirt.

I'm going to.
Grenade prices make absolutely no sense if they're consumables - they're absurdly expensive.
The only context where these massive prices make sense is if they're reusable.
>>
>>54763053
Yes, and?
>>
>>54763048
It's a planet with a highly irregular orbit around the Sun that can take as long as 317 years to complete, taking it far out into the Solar System or almost as close as Castroval! This means the planet is snow-locked and vicious for hundreds of years, only to become steamy and exceptionally fertile the next few centuries! The local Triaxians reflect this change by having Summerborn Triaxians and Winter Triaxians, those born during the "Summer" and "Winter" respectively with obvious physical differences, such as the lack of fur!

Half of the planet is ruled by Dragons, who in Starfinder seemed to have become CEOs!

What do you guys think of the Ysoki? Has paizo gone too far? this rocket racoon bullshit has to stop at soem point right? I mean look at these fucks. I bet you queers plan to play these cheese kikes and use anime girls with rat ears arent you?
>>
Full PDF when?
>>
>>54763174
Personally, I'm not really a fan of the Ysokai. They don't bring anything interesting to the table either mechanically or in fluff, and are clearly meant to appeal to the people who want to play the "plucky animal-person companion."

>I bet you queers plan to play these cheese kikes and use anime girls with rat ears arent you?

I've seen plenty of people around here excited to play a Vesk or Android or even Kasatha, but none seem keen on going Ysokai. It's fine.
>>
>>54763145
They are literally no better than regular weapons, thus not justifying this.
Let's look at the end of the scale:
Tempest Shock Caster deals 7d12+20 (thanks to specialisation), average 64.5, in a 20ft radius, costs 735200.
Frag Grenade VIII deals 20d6 (grenades never get specialisation), average 70, in a 15ft radius, costs 216800.
For the Shock Caster you can barely afford three grenades, yet the Shock Caster is actually arguably better.
As it stands, grenades are utter garbage.
>>
>>54763152
I guess it makes sense that their size is limited only by the matter within its sphere of influence.
>>
>>54763206
>As it stands, grenades are utter garbage.
Soldiers make grenades for free.

>>54763220

I'm considering running a 1-3 session oneshot over discord, but I have a dilemma; theatre of the mind, or grids? I'd be comfortable with theatre of the mind, but a grid system provides deeper tactical clarity, and this game idea will be mostly combat.

Does anyone know where I can find some good sci-fi grids? Gridded out spaceship interiors would be perfect.

Are the rules for repairing Drones vague, or am I missing something? A Drone is a technological construct, cannot recover damage on its own.

>>54762689
I think the other grenade is just a picture for reference. The composition is sorta ambiguous, but there is a white outline around the Grenade in the foreground and it has no motion blur.

Like everyone said, it wouldn't make sense to throw a grenade with the pin still in it. There is also no reason to throw two. If they land perpendicular to the target BBs from one will be deflected by the other, meaning only one would be getting the whole effect. And if they land parallel to the target, there is no advantage to hitting somebody with twice as many BBs when you only need one to take somebody out. Better off throwing one, and then another if the first one somehow didn't work.

Missed the new thread when I replied to this nonsense, so let me repeat myself here instead of the dying one;
That interpretation is terribly silly, and you know you're splitting hairs and being contrary. Besides, the 'special thrown weapon' thing is also touched upon in the AMMUNITION section:
> "For weapons with other forms of ammunition (such as grenades), ammunition must be purchased separately."
> "Ammunition & Grenades"
> "Grenades, ammunition and OTHER CONSUMABLE ITEMS can benefit from fusion seals, but the fusion seal is destroyed when the item is used."
Just stop being stubborn and accept that, yes, grenades explode and are ruined when they do damage. It'll save most GMs smacking you upside the head when you try to argue it at the table.

>>54764138
Barring multiclass combos, there are generally two "top tier" eidolon builds. One would be the pouncemonster, which is a quadruped and the evangelion which is a biped. The pouncemonster focuses on pouncing, and the evangelion takes advantage of the biped's higher strength score and increased reach. Once you get the chassis down the rest is fairly easy, for either one you have relative freedom to choose how you make your attacks, you either go with multiweapon fighting and a million arms, or natural attacks. Multiweapon is more expensive but has an easier time dealing with DR, Natural attacks are slightly cheaper (AoMFs are still expensive as fuck). Afterwards it becomes a matter of deciding on what weapons you focus on, Multiweapon uses shortswords, natural attacks generally focus on one natural attack type, typically claws since they're cheap and there you have it. Size boosts trumps stat bust when it comes to cost efficiency so go for that when given the choice, then take utility like scent/blindsense when you have points to spare.

There are tons of other builds but those are your main options if you want something "strong" out of the box.

>>
As long as we're on the subject, are there any archetypes that result in a character with full BAB and sneak attack progression at least as fast as the Rogue?
>>
>>54767296
Not quite, but you can exceed it by using certain dumb combos.
>>
>>54767296
The only one was back in 3.5, as an ACF for the Fighter called the Thug; it replaced your Bonus Feats with Sneak Attack, and wasn't very good for that very reason.
>>
If I have the feat for free action style swaps, can I use Pummeling Charge to pounce and then switch to dragon style to get 1.5x Str from dragon ferocity? I assume I couldn't switch back at the end to then combine all the unarmed strikes.
>>
>>54767269
King's Gambit has currently run for three sessions and it's roughly halfway. Online games always go longer than expected.
>>
>>54767296
ACTUALLY
If you take 1 level in Vivisectionist and then go Snakebite Striker Brawler, you get MORE than full sneak progression. Due to this:
>If a character already has sneak attack from another class, the levels from the classes that grant sneak attack stack to determine the effective rogue level for the sneak attack’s extra damage dice (so an alchemist 1/rogue 1 has a +1d6 sneak attack like a 2nd-level rogue, an alchemist 2/rogue 1 has a +2d6 sneak attack like a 3rd-level rogue, and so on). This ability replaces bomb.
So we're limited to Full-1 BAB, but we get more than full sneak progression. Not shabby!
>>
>>54767296
Spheres of Might has the Conscript class (a Full-BAB) that can purchase a lesser Sneak Attack progression. Combine it with Fatal Thrust (from the Fencing sphere) and you effectively get Full Sneak Attack.
>>
So for the boss fight of my small game I'm running the silliest gimmick:
A book of infinite spells owned by the BBEG has gone berserk and is scattering pages everywhere. Once per turn, party members entering the square of a page will immediately trigger a random spell from a pre-chosen list as if they'd cast it themselves.

Mook enemies can also activate these pages.

What are some fun spells to add to the list?

Things like a free fireball or create pit or summon monster are fine, but I don't want either side getting flesh to stone or globe of invulnerability or dominate monster and save-or-losing someone or invalidating the fight

So I'm looking at Starfinder, and it seems like Operative and Soldier are the only viable classes. Point buy is so low that you can only have one high ability score, one medium one, and all the others at base. Soldiers and Operatives only need Dex and Con, but everyone else is MAD to some degree and that's just unworkable.

What are ways to never get surprised? I heard you cant actually use immediate actions in a surprise round if you are surprised

>>
>>54767956
Early game lethality has been reduced so defensive scores aren't as important, and the way progression works makes it more viable to start with lower ability scores. It might be better to have two 16s than one 18 now.

Not if I'm not the GM.

I kind of like the one odd score myself. Since you raise multiple ability scores, you'll always have some score going up to a new modifier no matter what you do.

Even without spherecasting, there is a lot of spheres stuff that can be used without being a spherecaster. Prescient Dodger is one of the more popular, but several of the books have things for non-sphere casters. ITs an alternate magic system based around instead starting with a a basic thematic ability, then spending resources as you level up to either access other abilitise, or increase what you can do with said ability.

A "Sphere" is a thematic grouping, similar to Spell Schools from 1pp casting, which contain a single basic ability, and several different "talents" you can gain as you level up to enhance the basic ability in different way. There are 20 Spheres of magic in total 21 if using Skyborne campaign setting, but the Fey Sphere sucks and shouldn't be bothered with. With how limited basic abilities are, and how limited your talents to spend on upgrades are, the system incentivises and rewards specialization in a particular sphere or theme over generalization like 1pp Vancian casting does.

The Spheres are as follows (with basic summary): 1/2
>Alteration: Shapeshifting magic. Comes in basic form packs, as well as traits you can apply to forms based on what talents you have
>Conjuration: Summoning custom creatures like a 1pp Summoner, or a Final Fantasy Summoner
>Creation: altering and reshaping physical objects for various effects
>Dark: Creating and manipulating magical darkness and shadows.
>Death: Necromancy. Skelly summoning and necrotic blasts.
>Destruction: Blasting. Comes in a variety of blasty types and shapes you can unlock and use. Damage is rather subpar, but nearly all blasts have okay riding effects
>Divination: Sensing, Scrying, magical detection stuff, and some dowsing and minor precog stuff
>Enhancement: giving bonuses and bossting traits and effects of creatures and objects. Also object animation is here.
>Fate: These are your Sactuary, Smite, and Consecration based effects. Also curses and things. Kinda meh
>Illusion: Creating illusions, invisibility, and other similar stuff. Honestly haven't looked much at it.
>Life: Healing and restoration. Good for both in and out of combat

>Light: Creating and manipulating magical light effects. Also has "lens" effects which effect things like Vision, and how Light chages in certain directions
>Mind: This is your emotional sensing, manipulation, and basic mind control stuff. IS divided into basic, improved, and greater charms with different effects each that require more and more investment, and generally require you to decide what kinds of emotion/control you want to specialize in.
>Nature: Manipulation of Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, ad Metal. Divided into Geominancy (direct manipulation) and Spirit (manipulation of yourself and spiritual things) talents to specialize in. If you specialize in a specific branch of Geomancy, then it has good synergy with some other sphere effects
>Protection: Shields, Wards, Barriers, and magical armor. Suprisingly large ammounts of versitility, plus it makes useful wall/barrier affects as well
>Telekinesis: Telekeetic control of objects for different effects. Specialization can also grant you access to Gravity manipulation
>Time: The JoJo references go here from freezing, slowing, reversal, restoration, acceleration, and even moving things out of the flow of time. Excellent for Gish-type characters
>War: Area buffs, affects, rallies, totems, and other stuff. Think Brutal Legend's RTS sections
>Warp: Teleportation, blinking, and spatial manipulation
>Weather: Weather manipulation. Generally considered OP and usually banned by most GMs. Its existance is considered a mistake by both the players, and a few of the devs

Keep in mind, with your limited resources, you'll generally only use/specialize in 3 spheres at most. Further, all the good abilities require Spell Points to use or keep active without concetration, with Spell Points being basically a limited mana system you can have.

The system itself is designed to be mostly fluff agnostic, with having optional rules for creating your own method of casting via Traditions, Drawback, and Boons

At that price I'd want it to be the license to own one more grenade. If you can prove to the vendor you used the grenade you should be able to get it replaced for a lot less. If you can't you just bought the license to own one more grenade. You have to get a note from the APF (Alcohol, Pipe weed & Firearms) that you don't have that one grenade anymore and don't have to pay the bond on one grenade. Grenade damage can be stacked by taping them together.
>>

And what would /pfg/ talk about then? meme apps, pld bullshit, with false flags all around? Great thread you got there buddy.
>>

They use ranks.
>>

Leakanon will still probably post more caps here though, and all othe attempts at creating a separate /sfg/ have all ended in stillborn failures as their thread discussion is almost always incredibly anemic and glacial

Does creation allow you to actually create objects from thin air? Can you go full Emiya?

>>
>>54769713
Yes, but you'll need more specialization in it before you can go Emiya, and even then you'll also need investment into the Telekinesis Sphere, or taking the Armorist Class with the Souring Blade archetype

By default you'll only create objects made from vegetable matter, though there are ways to cirvumvent it through either taking the Expanded Materials talent, or taking a Restricted Materials drawback.

Basically, you can either go Emiya, or you can go Fullmetal Alchemist if you don't want to have trash taste in animu

I've been away from tabletop entirely for like eighteen months now. Has Paolo given any support or content at all for Samurai and Ninja? Is Kineticist still mechanically unusable?

That's backwards though....

>>
>>54769793
There's literally an Emiya archetype with UBW in the Creation handbook playtest, so yes.
>>
>>54769868
I wasn't counting it yet since it hasn't been released yet, at least as far as I'm aware
>>
>>54769808
Actually we're probably stronger, on average, than people in medieval ages due to health, nutrition, vaccines, etc. Our height and weight also increased and muscular mass with it.
>>
>>54769818
Samurai, Ninja, the majority of the Advanced Class Guide, and the Pathfinder Unchained classes are all woefully undersupported, Occult classes get a bit more support but are mostly still mechanically bland or bad.

Kineticist is workable with hefty amounts of 3pp, but at this point, Forrest Fire Studios (a third party dev that spun off from Dreamscarred Press) has the Avowed, which will do most of the same but in a simpler to digest package, while not being trash.
>>
>>54769881
>The desk job nerds have more muscle mass than a field working peasant

10 is always the average of the !humans in whatever setting the game takes place in is all. Sometimes this means that 10 Int involves everyone not knowing their knives from their forks.
>>
>>54769864

>He's only seen the Deen version
>>
>>54769907
But the encumbrance table remains the same no matter the time or setting, unless you have evidence suggesting otherwise.
>>
>>54769922
All these filthy secondaries probably only watched the deen or ufotable versions and didn't play the VN, and lord knows they didn't play tsukihime.
>>
>>54769922
I've watched VN Fate and I have to agree that Fate is kinda overrated.
>>
>>54769926
Obviously the weight and build of things are also relatively different in order to accommodate the humans needs.
>>
>>54769907
>>54769926
Recall that just because 10 is the average doesn't mean that people wouldn't lean towards other stats societally.

Like if you live in a country where you just need to farm, you're gonna end up with an array favoring strength and constitution.
>>
>>54769960
But to be fair ive only played the main Emya path.
>>
>>54769926
Encumbrance is just silly, according to it I should be between 12-13 Str because I can still run and move ok with 20 kg (as long as it's well distributed), and in reality I don't exercise enough to be considered above average person.
>>
>>54769960
IMO, Kara no Kyoukai was much better, and I kinda hate that the weirdo magic system and worldbuilding Nasu did with it and Tsukihime took a back seat to the "muh servants" thing with the Fate series.
>>
>>54769984
I want to harvest my field's wheat then fuck my wife!
>>
>>54769907
Remember humans have +2 to one Stat, if you're a farmer you probably have 12 Str.

The NPC array's highest stat is 14 if I recall.

So the VILLAGE STRONGMAN will have 16.

There's going to be those who rp them as smart robots and try to be funny.
And then there are those who are going to rp them like if they were humans in a fabricated body, ghost in the Shell style.
