You know how some important events like the war of the beard are usually narrated with some kind of bias in different books, right?

Revised Dwarfs armybok 6th ed, page 9 to 11

It tells the tale of the War of Vengeance, but differently from the other dwarf book and the elf one, it's not a story told by some kind of internal source. The story here presented is told by an all-knowing external narrator, just like in other books it happens to describe tthe realms or the people

Hence the story told in this book is probably the most unabiased of the three, since an omniscent narrator tells the aboslute truth about a matter.
You want proof? The most lorefags among you will know that Snorri Half-Hand, son of King Gotrek, wa skilled by Caledor II in single combat. While the first dwarf book attributes this to some dirty trick from Caledor's part and the Elfs tell how Caledor tried to dissuade him from his murderous intent with grace and nobility, this other story simply tells that Snorri fucked up and got killed because he challenged a guy who was downright better than him.

So here you have it, the ultimate resolution of the war of vengeance. The Dwarfs were right all along and the Elfs are cunts who think of the war as a bad idea only because they lost

There is no reason not to aside from the whims of a vampire. They give the Blood Kiss whenever they feel like it, so if they saw potential in a child then it's up to them to administer it or not. Its not the super special characters that are important, they don't matter, its the factions themselves and the armies the players create within those factions.

The Strigoi are fun because while Ushoran was well-meaning to a certain extent, he was also naive and stupid.
The Strigoi will never be truly noble and powerful like the von Carsteins they want to be and I think they're more interesting for it. Instead they'll make their best attempt - a twisted court of the malformed, hunchbacks and beasts pretending (badly) to be lords and ladies. And maybe, hideous as they are, they will be genuinely better than the von Carsteins, despite the von Carstein's glamours and the air of romanticism they've so carefully cultivated among mortals.

I guess it's just not for me - I don't even see much out of the examining psychology part, because it always goes the same route: being a child they don't have a firm grasp of morals, they become sadistic or slightly insane, usually with a 'little girl' theme to make the creepy all the more so. At best you get a little girl that doesn't act like a little girl at all, and at that point why even have her be a kid as far as character is concerned?

Then again, I don't see much good coming out of child characters in general, so maybe I'm just not the right kind of person to even be discussing the idea. I rarely see them written well or find them really endearing.

It's harder to say whether or not Lahmians are better than von Carsteins. All Lahmians do is be pretentious old ladies playing at running the human world from their hold in the mountains. The von Carsteins would be basically what already exists, only aristocrats are vampires, and would demand human meals. Either way both are the same. It's just that von Carsteins would rule openly.

I do like the von Carsteins better though. Their books are what got me into Warhammer Fantasy.

I was planning on making a quest about the Strigoi and strigany trying to claw back their civilization

The MC is a Strigany merc. After dickong around in border lands, Empire, Norsca, Araby, or some other places, just exploring the warhammer world a bit and leaving a massive trail of bastard in his path or whatever. He hears about the massive strigany extermination/ bounty hunting going on. Either after taking control of his company or escaping them trying to claim his bounty he rushes to save as many of his people as he can and returning to his clan. Was thinking of Ushoran performing a ritual he had no idea would work nor caring just in a moment of painful lucidity would want to try and salvage what he could of his people and bloodline. Ritual involves the blood of Stygos itself, provided by Strigany as the noble Strigoi or either dead or too degenerated and corrupted. Warpstone, crushed rubble from his palace, the bone dust of a strigan Wight king, being well versed in Dark Magic, the help of a Necarch he planned to toture and probably some lesser known artifact of Nagash. Was thinking of the ritual tying the MC so deeply to Strygos and the Strigany that as along as he completely devotes himself to the cause of rebuilding Mourkain and their fallen Empire he'd be able to keep his form. Was thinking of a catch that he still has periods in which he degenerates into Common Strigoi form a result of the beast the Strigoi have in them that hungers ceaselessly for the complete destruction of the other vampire lineages and their grand revenge satisfied

It just makes them seem out of place and even shoe-horned in, and makes places like Cathay more confusing - is it a giant Tzeentch-cult, friendly with Skaven, or a home of an ancient society of vampires?

Sometimes it's okay that stuff was left on the cutting room floor - it was cut for a reason and is better off not being salvaged. There are better ways to make things feel out of place and alien than making something strange and weird and slapping the familiar 'vampire' label on them.

I feel like I'm in the extreme minority for wanting and incorporating half-elves into my Warhammer Fantasy games and female orcs, though to be perfectly honest they exist largely due to fluff reasons and neither actually makes a difference in gameplay.
I've always disliked the explanation that Warhammer was "better" then other kinds of fantasy not having these two things when any rational person I've met admits that the setting runs on ridiculous 1980's metal album/painted on the side of a van visual aesthetics and WWE-grade storytelling.

Halbelben humans (as the Empire calls them) are basically just statistically humans but with the Longevity trait. They don't even look like elves, beyond maybe not getting mutated as visibly as Chaos mutates humans (but still going mentally crazy as per elves), and they aren't common because most human-elven pregnancies are neither rare nor viable. They tend to get treated as freaks if folk know what they are, so it's generally kept quiet and I figured most of them happen between elf males and human females due to elves ovulating very rarely.

Why couldn't a dwarf man find a human woman? And apparently half-elves probably aren't all that different from humans, so it's not as if they'd be all that different either.

Like...in 3.5e and to some degree in 5e, they had the whole idea that half-elves were souls stuck between two worlds that they could never really be a part of. Briefly in 4e, everyone loved half-elves and thought they were the best of both races. But if you're not going to really do anything with a mixed race baby, why bother? Is it an excuse for humans and elves to have sex? You don't need to be able to have a baby for that to happen. In fact, that happens a lot when you're not specifically trying to have a baby.

Regarding half-breeds...part of the reason I like it not existing is because at the end of the day Warhammer is a setting meant to describe why any race can be fighting any other race, and half-breeds provide a link between the two that makes that slightly more difficult.

Fortunately, the question of whether it's biologically possible is fairly moot due to the cultural differences. Elves are in general too haughty, and where they are more kind they're also more aware that for them it would be a very brief love affair before the human withered and died before their very eyes. Dwarfs are also proud, but also intent on honor and propagating their dying race. If they aren't married and breeding, they're either trying to be worthy of such or producing the arms/food/skills/whatever the clan needs to support the next generation. Spending time and energy supporting a half-breed would be anathema to them.

Probably the best chances of finding half-breeds would be Druchii slave babies, and they would be fairly irrelevant to the setting aside from Drizzt ripoffs.

The ottomans are wonderful for Araby, they even had some weird persian/chinese art styles and the leaders of the janissaries were named cooks.

Well, again you're going to fall into the trap of a human lifespan being tiny compared to an elf. It would be like dating a terminally ill girl with a year left to live. Not impossible to have happen, but it would take one sick fuck to go looking for that sort of thing.

Prostitutes generally take actions not to get preggers, or abort the baby if they do. Also, while I know Gotrek's friend Snorri spent a lot of time with wenches, it was never said that he fucked them. At least that I remember, haven't read those books in a while.

Those are less half breeds and more war experiments. Somewhat akin to FMA-style chimeras, not so much a DnD half elf.

They're a race born of chaos fuckery. They took two races that couldn't breed (men and beasts) and twisted them together in a dark parody of both. They reproduce through beastmen females (does), beastmen mutants born to Human parents, and turnskins: people who just spontaneously became Beastmen.

There's probably rumors and jokes that fucking a goat or a cow can birth a beastmen. They may even be true.

Overall, though, half-breeds can pretty safely be ignored. The inclination is virtually nil, the fertility of the elder races is low, and xenophobia is high. Finally, the circumstances under which one of the few half-breeds born wouldn't be turned over to the witch hunters is even more narrow. And good luck trying to explain that its ok for the baby to jave black eyes, his father was an elf.
