Thousand Sons are borderline overpowered and Magnus is extremely so, so you'll be fine as long as you don't use him outside of huge games. Seriously, he can wipe a Warhound off the board in a turn easily and probably two-turn a Reaver.

Thousand Sons are objectively the weakest Legion. All the focus on psychic abilities makes them unreliable compared to the Iron Warriors or the Alpha Legion. Magnus is among the weaker primarchs.
