>Modern setting with cryptids.
>There is a snail whose slime, when consumed, causes hair to glow.
>What color it glows depends on what color the slime was when consumed.
>The problem is that if you drink a version that is too diluted, nothing happens. If you drink pure slime, the effect becomes permanent.
>Some people don't care, but some versions can glow so brightly it is very difficult to sleep. And is even rumored to attract certain spirits.
Find some uses for this other than a fashion statement.
A sort of branding/ID for sports teams and fans
Safety identification for crossing guards ok pri lof roads. Same can go for protection for construction workers working at night. It could be kept in vials for pilots to use when they crash as a way to help rescue efforts find them.

That would be a fashion statement.

>A body is found in the woods at night
>Because the victim's hair shines
>It's also partially eaten, but not by any normal predator
>Now the party have to find and probably fight a Michigan Dogman with glowing blonde hair

If the hair still glows when it's plucked out, give the slime to criminals and if they commit another crime, it's easier for forensics to find hairs to ID them.

Use it on a small domestic furred creature, and get a free pet/light source that sheds glowing hairs
Use weakly glowing hairs (from self or aformentioned pet) as a breadcrumb trail in dark locations. They can only be followed if you extinguish your light source and thus prevents anyone who needs light from seeing it and following you or it being seen during the day.

Have animals like sheep eat the slime so that their wool grows shiny and use it for clothing and safety equipment, such as life jackets so that it is easier to see the person in the ocean at night or an energy-free alternative to torches, signals and street lights.
Does it keep glowing even after cut?
If so, start building photo-voltaic batteries.
