Shit, I haven't played this game since middle school but these cheap ass cards are making me want to buy a bunch of stuff and just build a big fucking power gaming deck.

I ran into this problem too. I have like 1500 cards and discovered that, with all the rares I'd collected in them, I could maybe get between 70 and 100 bucks. Feels bad man.

Forcing nerds to buy in hard to join the scene makes them loyal customers. Once you've spent $1000 on cardboard, you'll spend another thousand to avoid being left behind.

If MtG was cheap, it would be an occasional pastime, easily set aside--for many people, it's a lifestyle. In fact, their skinner box game design is probably the only reason MtG hasn't succumbed along with dozens of other shitty CCGs

What's good for the company is not good for the customers. MtG is more like a casino operator than a producer of consumer goods. Fleecing you is the only reason they exist.
