Players of slayers! What reason did YOUR dwarf have for taking the oath? What did the party do if or when they found out? Did they die well?
>>
>>54693053
Fake news edition.

>Denied permanent form by the Great Changer, the daemon prince had found a way to turn his curse into a gift. Every time Archaon’s blessed blade nicked, stabbed or sliced through the abomination’s flesh it was the emptiness of shadow. Whenever Be’lakor’s huge blade came down at the Chaos warrior, however, the daemon prince momentarily assumed all the monstrous brawn and infernal ire of his physical form. How Archaon could defeat such a creature– that was at once everything and nothing– he did not know. While his mind reeled with the futility of the task, his father-in-shadow proceeded to press his diabolical advantage.

>The centre of the chamber had been scoured bare. The altar was gone. There was no sign of the sorcerers, the warpstone sigil, or anything else for that matter besides a hole in the ground. Power crackled across the chamber, incandescent flares licking the walls and causing stone to dribble like fat. Black horrors gambolled without purpose, slapping into columns and each other as the walls shook. And in the midst of their disarray, a dark angel wavered like smoke.

>It was Be’lakor.

>The daemon prince was almost as large as the Beast, larger still if one counted its leathery wingspan or the jagged height of its black crown. But where that degraded monster had been a rounded mass of malformed muscle and bone plates, Be’lakor was lithe, his powerful body sculpted in volcanic glass. That statuesque might was now hunched, as though wounded, bat wings cocooning its body. How it had come to be hurt, Felix could only hazard. Gotrek’s axe passed through the daemon’s leg trailing a wisp of black smog.

>The daemon laughed coldly, the creak of glacial ice. ‘You have taken my army, you have beaten my champion. My ritual has been spoiled but not ruined.’ The daemon’s voice was sonorous and smooth, but just a voice now that it did not cross planes. The chamber trembled, sending dust through the daemon’s body. It chuckled darkly, as though tickled. ‘I will be free. I may find myself five years past or five hundred. It is but a turning of the world to an immortal.’

>‘We’re both here now, you sack of steam.’ Gotrek made another swing. The runes of his axe flared with a frustrated brilliance as they clove through the smoke that was the daemon prince, Be’lakor. ‘Fight me now and have done.’

>Be’lakor continued to fade. Only an outline remained, shadow upon shadow, a hint of a crown. ‘Your doom is coming. Trust that when it nears, it will be my hand that guides it.’

One added piece of information. Be'lakor is older than all the rites and words of banishment and exorcism. This makes him resistant to such magics.

It's confirmed in the novel that the Changeling adopted the form of Be'lakor to undermine his operations.

Also Be'lakor can split his essence to create shadow clones of himself. When Archaon tried to seal him in a dwarf sword, Be'lakor split into hundreds of Be'lakor and each one tried to flee.

Also keep dreaming. Lizards cannot touch Be'lakor. It's known.

Dude, daemon princes are always connected to their origin point in reality. That's why they can exist in reality/mortal plane longer (sometimes indefinitely) than normal daemons. The fact that mortal Be'lakor was born in primordial times before any word of banish or rite of exorcism was invented and written makes daemon Be'lakor resistant to those kind of magics.

It make sense to me. As Lucifer of the setting, he should be unique among the daemons.

Being born before someone figures out how to create a fireball wouldn't stop it from burning your face off, so why shouldn't it work the same with exorcism?

Lucifer is a little bitch that gets blown the fuck out repeatedly. That's pretty much his job.

Refusing to reply to every slightly obnoxious little tit out of fear of it being the arch sperger himself is not something I'd like to be doing.
Refusing to reply to someone blatantly sucking off their character or faction of choice is something I'd prefer
>>
>>54693675
>so why shouldn't it work the same with exorcism?

Think of banishment magic as an antibody/vaccine. Be'lakor is an ancient disease that exists before these were invented. So the antibodies/vaccines that were created after his time would have lesser effects on him since his essence is stranger and incompatible to these magics.

>Lucifer is a little bitch that gets blown the fuck out repeatedly. That's pretty much his job.

And it happens to be Be'lakor job as well. Fail to pave way for the story progress and the hour of the Antichrist.
>>
>>54693711
Daemons are fragments of mortal thoughts and feelings. Words of banishment will work if a mortal belives they will and that is part of the daemon's essence. Be'lakor is too old and strong though, he predates the concept so it's not baked into him.
>>
>>54693744
>Can anyone tell me more about this?
No, because that's all we know

How does it not make sense.

A modern day vaccine for a disease won't work on the same kind of disease 1000 years ago. Be'lakor is a primordial daemon. The first of his kind. The rules that ably to daemons that came after him don't all apply to him.
>>
>>54693758
>he predates the concept

Just stop. Trying to outsmart him does't work, trying to out meme him doesn't work, trying to out autisim him doesn't work. Just do not reply.
>>
>>54693847
>A modern day vaccine for a disease won't work on the same kind of disease 1000 years ago.
that's why you make a different vaccine for the other disease

...do you even know how vaccines work?
>>
>>54693887
Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. Letting Carnac go unchallenged is stupid.
>>
>>54693825
Hmm intersting, guess we'll have to wait and see how good the game will be.
Still hoping that some day there will be witcher-like RPG set in the Old World
>>
>>54693903
Here is the issue. Nobody knows how to make a vaccine for Be'lakor. His essence is incomprehensible to everyone but the gods who created him. So they stick with what they know. True that the words of banishment are less effective against him, true that they will take a longer time and more energy to work, true that he will likely kill you before you are finished, but that's all you got.
>>
>>54693918
>Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away.

Not problems in general no, but definitely trolls.
You know he's trying to annoy you and get you to reply to him. You're part of the problem if you reply.
If you didn't reply he'd get bored and leave.

>Letting Carnac go unchallenged is stupid.

How? It's obviously the smartest option, challenging him is what /tg/ has been doing for years, and it has never ever worked. Thinking that it will at this point is insane.
>>
>>54693963
Don't people need the real name of the daemon to banish him?
>>
>>54693983
It's one form of banishment magic, yes. Saying the true name of a daemon gives you power over it, to banish or command it. However, no one in WHFB knows the true name of Be'lakor. It's lost to history.
>>
>>54694016

All that you are I put in there. But think not that I afford you any affection for that. My half-breeds roam the world. Thousands more serve me not in flesh but in deed. They carry my mark. They live for my favour. They know their place. They do not carp and question. They serve the darkness of this world through the darkness they find in themselves. They serve their father-in-shadow– the darkness that is Be’lakor, you worthless wretch. As you should.

Father of a thousand thousand half daemon children.

-----

Anyways, here is a cool move from Be'lakor. He can phase his body parts inside people and then solidify them.

>Indeed, the Chaos warrior had stoked the fires of his father’s daemonic fury. More than he could know– for seconds later the colossal shadow sword passed straight through him in a murderous arc of darkness and gore. The armour of the Everchosen remained untouched by the blade that had simply solidified as it had cut Archaon in two within his plate. The Chaos warrior’s legs took two more stumbling steps before collapsing beneath him. In a cacophonous clatter, Archaon reached the floor, coming to a stop on his side. With his final, dust-choked breaths he watched the hulking abomination that was Be’lakor tower over him, the muscular black flesh of his chest rising and falling with effort and a father’s regret.

Be'lakor can only enter into the world by being summoned by a mortal. These mortal children can fulfil this function. Also Be'lakor's whenever he manifests is quickly attended to by mortal servants at a snap of finger. Many of them could be his half-breed daughters and sons.

That's not how you write a believable villain.

He started as comically evil and was good as your generic sleeping evil god. The relation between him and the vampire bloodlines during 6th was also interesting because it was never fully explained. Waking him up was (unsurprisingly) just as shit as the rest of endtimes. Ironically in AoS he gets some kind of 'greyness', but thats more due to the fact of everyones blandness than actual chracter depth. At least as far as I understand it.

>AoS he gets some kind of 'greyness'

No, the reason why Chaos won and conquered the realms because Nagash backstabbed Sigmar. Nagash continues to be an irredeemable ass even there.

For example, in the Age of Myth, Nagash tricked nine queens to marry him in exchange for sparing their kingdoms. When they agreed and married him, Nagash conquered their kingdoms and then tortured them to death and brought them back his mindless undead waifus.

He is not only a blatantly obvious shit-poster, he's also a blatantly obvious bait-poster. He has been doing this for three years now and either was banned and has copycat posters follow him or still does it.

Carnacposting itself is incredibly easy, because all you have to do is say incredibly stupid shit that either isn't canon or is from sources outside of Warhammer Fantasy, and people get mad and reply to you for days on end with huge paragraph posts while you reap the (You)s.

>>
>>54696255
The Elves were losing because the Dark Gods were sending everything they had at them and were overwhelming them with numbers. Aenarion wasn't losing himself; his only goal was killing every daemon he met, and he did so. The book even says, explicitly, that a Bloodthirster with Khorne's own power stands no chance, read again, no chance against Widowmaker. Aenarion cuts the motherfucker in half, the strongest daemon in existence and a vestige of the strongest Chaos God.

He dies because Khaine cursed him when he picked up Widowmaker, which explains why, if the greater daemons didn't even stand a chance against Aenarion in a 4 - 1 battle, he was still doomed to die, because Khaine ordained it. Khaine's a dick in Warhammer Fantasy.

Had Khaine not cursed Aenarion, or better yet had Khaine directly aided Aenarion, it's fully possible that Aenarion could've defeated the Chaos Gods. He'd have his own incredible power (even before Widowmaker he was slaughtering daemons in terrifyingly large droves), the power of Asuryan, and the power of Khaine. Of course this was empowerment, not direct intervention by these Gods, but it was still power.

Gods and daemons trembled at his wrath as the book says verbatim, and when it came down to it nothing Chaos had could stop him. Khaine's curse did, but if it hadn't, it's very possible he could've fought and killed a Chaos God with Widowmaker, even Khorne.

What was also said is the Chaos Gods are known for their cowardly moments, and it's likely that as soon as Aenarion challenged one they'd dogpile him because they knew they'd lose otherwise.

And for those who like Chaos, I'm not saying they're pussies either. I'm not anti-Chaos.

>The Elves were losing because the Dark Gods were sending everything they had at them and were overwhelming them with numbers.

Not true. In previous editions the Lizardmen were, IIRC, were fighting the bulk of the daemonic hordes. In 8th ED, the Lizardmen and Be'lakor divided the bulk of the daemonic forces between them.

>Aenarion wasn't losing himself; his only goal was killing every daemon he met, and he did so.

Aenarion is an elf. Elves were losing. He saw that Caledor ritual was the only way to save the world. His fucking sword can kill daemons all day long but new daemons will come back and the daemons he killed will be reborn. How many times N'kari was cleaved by the Widowmaker? Too many times and she always comes back. Always and forever. If Widowmaker lacked the power to destroy N'kari forever, How the FUCK do you think it can destroy a Chaos God?

The Greater Daemon of Nurgle had him at his mercy. Got saved by his dragon. That's your hero.

> Aenarion cuts the motherfucker in half, the strongest daemon in existence and a vestige of the strongest Chaos God.

I don't recall him being called the strongest. Got a source?

>Had Khaine not cursed Aenarion, or better yet had Khaine directly aided Aenarion, it's fully possible that Aenarion could've defeated the Chaos Gods.

That's your headcanon. Nothing in any text implies this. In fact, as I recall, Gav Thorpe's Elf series has Khaine invading the Chaos Gods realm and getting turned back. That's the actual god, not some guy with a sword. You don't get to naysay GAV "ELF FUCKER" Thope.

>Gods and daemons trembled at his wrath as the book says verbatim, and when it came down to it nothing Chaos had could stop him.

Except the Greater Daemons that would have killed him if it wasn't for his dragon.

We need to stop talking about anything after 8th edition period. The End Times is an entirely different line, and the majority of people here view 7th Edition as the last source of Fantasy fluff. The End Times and especially Age of Sigmar are not the games, the fluff, the characters, or the books discussed in these threads.

None of what you said of the battle, such as him being at any daemon's mercy, happened in 7th Ed. In fact, I don't think that happens in anything that mentions the battle at all.

The N'kari story is from 8th Ed.

Aenarion isn't called the strongest, or weakest, or anything, but he's defnitely the most accomplished daemonslayer in history. 7th Ed says that daemons are terrified of him and when the Bloodthirster slashes him he turns and chops the motherfucker in half.

When he picked up Widowmaker, he was cursed. 7th Ed says this.

Without Khaine's curse, Aenarion wouldn't have been scratched.

N'kari is older than 8th ed. Waaaay older.

>Aenarion isn't called the strongest, or weakest, or anything, but he's defnitely the most accomplished daemonslayer in history.

Post-ET, that would be Grimnir. The daemons he killed, STAYED DEAD.

>7th Ed says that daemons are terrified of him and when the Bloodthirster slashes him he turns and chops the motherfucker in half.

Lesser daemons perhaps. Not N'kari for example.

>When he picked up Widowmaker, he was cursed. 7th Ed says this.

Cursed his bloodline for suffering, rage, and blood hunger. It wasn't a death sentence.

>Without Khaine's curse, Aenarion wouldn't have been scratched.

Bullshit.
>>
>>54696868
His dragon incinerated Nurgle's daemon, but it's never said Aenarion would've died otherwise.

N'kari surviving Widowmaker is an 8th Ed (and I think End Times) thing.

>post-ET

Then it has no weight, bearing, or purpose here.

>not n'kari

No. 7th Ed says gods and Daemons. Not "gods except Chaos gods and Daemons but only lesser ones and not N'kari", it says gods and Daemons. They were scared of Aenarion. The strongest Daemon that existed at the time "could not stand" against Widowmaker, Khorne's Bloodthirster.

Khaine's curse is an arguable portion of the story. Some people say it's why he died, others say it's why the Elves got fucked up. That's speculative.

With the help of Asuryan and Khaine together Aenarion wouldn't have been scratched and could probably have killed any of the Chaos Gods save Khorne in a one-to-one fight. However, even without Khaine's curse, if he didn't have Khaine's direct aid he still would've been wounded by the Greaters and would've needed some recovery time, but he still fought and killed the absolute worst that Chaos had in their arsenal, and he won.

The Widowbreaker was the fucking shard of Khaine's godly sword. Of course, the Elven Gods would tremble because it would remind of them of the time Khaine used the REAL thing on them in War in Heaven and held dominance over Vaul, Isha, and her husbandu . However, Khaine himself with THE REAL THING invaded the Realm of Chaos. Guess what happened? The Chaos Gods booted him out.

So tell me. What sense does it make for the Chaos Gods to fear a mere mortal wielding a splinter of the weapon that a stupid Elf God swung at them?
>>
>>54696941
>the elven gods would tremble

It says gods and daemons. Not Elven gods and daemons, not Chaos gods and daemons. It says gods and daemons.

If you're taking Defenders of Ulthuan into account, Khaine tried to fuck up Chaos going four against one, which paralleled the later fight of Aenarion going four-to-one.

Of course Khaine lost. If a Chaos God came to fuck up the Elves and fought the Elven pantheon, they'd lose too.

The Chaos Gods and Law Gods fought proxy wars for this exact reason, because in a fit of cold war-inspired background, they were too powerful to invade each other.

Gods are pretty powerful beings.
>>
>>54696938
>His dragon incinerated Nurgle's daemon, but it's never said Aenarion would've died otherwise.

"SAVED". Read this word carefully. SAVED.

>N'kari surviving Widowmaker is an 8th Ed (and I think End Times) thing.

No, N'kari was identified was the daemon who fought Aenarion in way older lore.

>Then it has no weight, bearing, or purpose here.

Was funny to show that dwarfs were superior anyways.

>The strongest Daemon that existed at the time "could not stand" against Widowmaker, Khorne's Bloodthirster.

The Khornate daemon was nameless. I don't recall any text that says he was the strongest. If you have any provide it for knowledge sake.

>Khaine's curse is an arguable portion of the story. Some people say it's why he died, others say it's why the Elves got fucked up. That's speculative.

Again, I say, it wasn't a death sentence.

>With the help of Asuryan and Khaine together Aenarion wouldn't have been scratched and could probably have killed any of the Chaos Gods save Khorne in a one-to-one fight. This is laughable. The flame of Asuryan was in Aenarion so was the power of Khaine through the Widowmaker. He went down to his wounds to what was basically shards of the Chaos Gods.
>>
>>54696994
Let me go through Defenders. I am sure as hell he went after just one of them.
>>
>>54697032
Saved doesn't mean Aenarion was down and out.

N'kari fighting with Widowmaker is an 8th Ed thing.

ET lore has no place here.

The Khornate daemon was the only Bloodthirster at the time, the strongest Daemon of the strongest Chaos God. Greater daemons are the evil Avatars of Khaine, basically.

Asuryan's indirect help and Khaine's sword with his curse do not equal having the full power of gods on your side. It was an avatar versus four opposing avatars, and Aenarion may've been wounded, but the Greater Daemons were slain completely, to the point where even the Bloodthirster stood no chance against Widowmaker. The book says this, explicitly.

How are dragons in the Old World? Are the the standard fantasy type, where they live in caves, and sleep on hoards of treasure, occasionally being used as mounts by powerful lords and wizards?

Well, yeah. Though it's almost always elves that get to use them as mounts. The older the dragon, the more powerful they are, but the more often they're sleeping.

Okay. Are there any dragons in the Empire?
>>
>>54697899
I'm not sure. I know there was a Magister of the College of Shadows that got to ride one, if I'm remembering things right. In the past, Bretonnians fought dragons - that's where you got the heraldry for Bastonne, and a few other such footnotes. At one point there were dragons in certain forests of the Empire, but now it seems like at best only their (long-lasting and survivable) eggs are still around. And dwarves fucking hate dragons because they don't want anything touching their gold, so there might be some in the World's Edge Mountains or the Grey Mountains.
>>
>>54697963
Elspeth having a dragon mount doesn't make sense since there's only supposed to be one dragon mount in the Empire, the imperial dragon.

>>54697899
Besides the one that belongs to Karl Franz?

On another note, I always wonder why GW never made dismounted Outriders or a War Wagon as Empire options. I mean, more options = good. And making the Steam Tank customizable could have had so much potential.

alas.
>>
>>54698083
Probably the same reason they never made dismounted knights, for either Bretonnia or the Empire (though you could argue in the latter case the Greatswords fill that role). Probably because they weren't interested in providing more options, or didn't see the options themselves as meaningful enough to include.
>>
>>54698083
Does Karl Franz' dragon show up anywhere? I mean his staple mount seems to be Deathclaw.

"Lady Morathi appeared on Malus’s left side, still studying him intently. They were close enough to touch and the force of her presence was tangible, like a cold razor being drawn delicately across his skin. She radiated power in a way that not even his mother Eldire did. Her face was youthful, her features regal and severe; she was handsome rather than classically beautiful, with a broad face and a rounded chin that was almost square rather than pointed. Her eyes were like windows onto the Abyss, drinking in everything around her. "

Sounds about right. Why are people complaining about her looks?
>>
>>54696768
Its confirmed that they are just quest battles.

Tbh I cant get too hyped for Norsca. Kislev and the southern realmes needed this update more, and I would rather the new mechanics and units were just given to the WoC instead of making them a seperate faction.
>>
>>54698186
I remember an image that was "8th in a nutshell", that showed the majority of the new things for 8e were just "big monsters." Like, Orcs&Goblins were a copypaste, their only new units being the Mangler Squig and the bigass Spider. Tomb Kings were big snakes and thundercats. Ogre Kingdoms the "big rhino cavalry" and monsters, Empire the demigryphs and wagons (though the Hurricanum makes excellent conversion material), etc.

The Sigmarine minis are just so...soulless and fugly. Some Kharadron dwarves could be good conversion fodder for a Mordheim band, but those mini-balloons are just too damn good-looking. Why they couldn't do a Dwarf version of The Rocketeer...

She basically had a manface? You can use handsome to describe a female, but it always will push towards a more masculine look.
>>
>>54698234
Because that bit of text obviously wasn't the only way she was described, or even in the case of various artworks and models depicted. I can understand and appreciate what CA did, making her beautiful but also making it clear that in some sense it was a false beauty with her blackened hands and age spots on her back, but she does not really look like a character that is supposed to be 'the most beautiful' to me.

Also, she looks really human. I've never really been one of those people who really liked the idea of elves having thin, triangular faces with big black eyes, but it is really obvious when CA is working that they're not trying to make something that looks like an elf, you know?

>SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT

I will admit I do actually like some of the things that 8th brought out. Demigryphs have grown on me, I always enjoyed the big Tomb Kings models and the large Spider. I really wish that GW had tried to do some sort of campaign before ET, where they had an excuse for factions to make use of their new big toys, like a Tomb Kings invasion or a new Waaagh!

But in the end, a lot of it was overdetailed and not particularly great, and all of it was tainted by the coming of ET. It was a mix of GW being all puffed up about being a miniature company first and a game company second, and deciding to wash their hands of WFB in a way that still makes so many people unhappy years later. Even if AoS was better than it is, I don't think it would've lived up to what so many wanted - WFB to stick around.

All the spare spellbooks and stuff make for good bookshelf scenery for a Mordheim game, and I did buy 3 Chariots of Tzeentch before the Wrath of Magnus update so I could convert them for assorted purposes.

GW really needs to realize what LEGO figured out long ago. Stuff that has only one purpose doesn't sell as well as things that are easy to repurpose. The adult lego community even has POOP as an acronym for "Piece with Only One Purpose."

And these were rules I had been working on in an attempt to consolidate and partially streamline the assorted rules for mounts and wagons for Mordheim, attempting to consolidate from Blazing Saddles, Empire in Flames, Nemesis Crown, Border Town Burning, and that damn Magic Carpet from the Khemri campaign! Ideally, such a system could also be "expandable" for a party's ship (if you want a Sartosa campaign), or to allow certain upgrades to be taken as "standalone" structures (if you want a base-building game).

It was unfinished simply because I didn't feel too much like eyeballing individual prices and rarities for individual items, but I really was entertained by the prospect of a system that let you *build* a "wagon" and give it a rough pointage. Feel free to work on it and adapt it to your heart's content, since I'm currently focused on another project.

>Are there dark elf shopkeepers

Slaves.

>or gardeners?

Slaves.

>They can't all be soldiers/mariners/slavers, can they?

Slaves do everything else.

Seriously though, Darkblade novels present Delf social structure as;

Soldier/Guard
Pirate
Pirate Captain
Noble
Really Noble
Priest/Sorceress/Witch Elves
Royalty

With them all dedicating their every waking moment for personal advancement. Any mundane jobs with minimal/no chance of social advancement are most likely left to slaves.
>>
>>54699202
Talk about lack of variety in career paths
>>
>>54699202
Though I should add, it mentions female Dark Elves are expected to only serve as soldiers in times of war, the rest of the time they're expected to remain at home murdering the neighbours and backstabbing in social environments as their method of social advancement, whilst males are expected to join a corsair ship and get disgustingly rich.

So I guess you might get some really low-ranking Dark Elf females running a shop or acting as maids for nobles if they're really desperate while their husbands are away.
>>
>>54699225
>Be a slave today! Plenty of options for a variety of career paths, and lots of room for advancement. You may feel like you'll spend the rest o your days in that mine, buddy boy, but with hard work you may end up the supplier of mining equipment to your other fellows! Well they worship a god of Murder as their state religion and have religious festivals where a bunch of naked bezerker women stalk the streets cutting down anything that moves and breaking into houses to drag 'sacrifices' screaming out into the street. You need influence or utility to someone else with influence to remain breathing more than a week.

Dark Elves would watch 'The Purge' and wonder why it wasn't allowed on the other 364 days of the year.

They're not killing each other non-stop for the same reason mafia families aren't. You can avoid a knock on the door with 'Do you have a few minutes to talk about Khaine' followed by open-air coronary surgery if you're wealth enough to make a donation to the Temple ahead of any 'religious festivals'. Likewise, the noble houses and anyone who works for them are generally off-limits, whilst anyone poorer is probably involved in street gangs and shit like that who'll counter-murder to defend the elves loyal to them.

So a corsair whose wife if pregnant will make sure the Temple has been given a good donation and the local gangs know who his wife is and which ships crew will come to messily disembowel them if she gets hurt before he sets sail. Plus she's probably pretty formidable herself anyway.

So a lot of sporadic killing but still stable enough usually for people to raise kids. Though I imagine mortality rates are sky high for every age bracket past conception.

>Archaon novels are ET lore.

No, they aren't. They came like 2 years before ET. They are 8th ED. They also the lore that WH:TW built their Archaon on.

>AoS Lizardmen are Daemons made of pure light who literally destroy the strongest of Chaos taint just by bleeding on it.

They are made from Azyr in the form of starlight. Archaon, who is Be'lakor's son, had Azyr lightning directed at him. You know what he did? He grabbed the lightning in his fists and crushed it to nothing. Archaon fought the Seraphon and slew so many of them that a sparkles of their broken bodies started to form around him. Archaon killed a stormcast hero and thrust his hands into the Azyr blessed soul of that stormcast for long moments caressing it before allowing the tortured soul to blaze back to the heavens. Dracthoian the titanic Star dragon breathed a torrent of pure Azyrite starlight at Archaon which singed Archaon armour but he was otherwise unharmed.

If Be'lakor's son managed that, then so can Be'lakor! After all, what does Archaon have that Be'lakor doesn't?

Think like some sort of dictator in that there isn't really any wiggle room or freedom under his rule, but he was damn good at it and didn't fuck things up like some infamous ones. Not necessarily some benevolent, wise and just figure, but he can be remarkably good and even restrained as long as proper respect is shown.

I know that one Tomb Kings city - Numas - has a tribe of humans in it that worship the Tomb King there as a god, and they're allowed to live and trade for food and what have you. It's not unfair to think that the Tomb Kings would want living subjects, especially intellectual types - one short story had an Arabyan scholar kept alive by a Tomb King even though he desire death, because the dead can start to lose their wits. It wouldn't be unfair to assume that they'd want to trade for things that are luxurious or can help them rebuild their cities, I'm just not sure what they'd give.

>. It wouldn't be unfair to assume that they'd want to trade for things that are luxurious or can help them rebuild their cities, I'm just not sure what they'd give.

It's not beyond possibility that a tomb king might trade for things a human society would need out of a stubborn desire to live as if he was living again. At least one tomb king was famous for demanding sumptuous banquets be laid out for him, but he couldn't remember what they were for and they'd literally just sit there and rot while he pondered it.

So everyone who isn't a hated edgemaster plays or is a fan of Blood Bowl, Archaon goes bowling alone.

Same with Eldar in 40k, I think it's more a case of third world living conditions vs first world. High Elves are too cultured and educated to do something as messy and plebian as *shudder* reproduction, unless they absolutely have too.

High elves put off having kids until they're five or six thousand years old because they're worried it'll ruin their figure and they want to focus of their sculpting career.

Your average Dark elf woman has probably had sixteen kids by the time she's 80 because she could get decapitated on her commute to work so why the fuck not. Fourteen have probably been brutally murdered before reaching adulthood but that still puts her two ahead of the frigid six thousand year old High elf who's still waiting to meet the right elf to start a family with.

Same reason High elf women wear floor length robes and Dark elf women wear thongs and (optional) nipple pasties.

tl;dr Dark elf women are sluts

They stole from him.

Anything Settra wants beyond his expected tribute and duties of vassal to master would be bartered for.

Probably fresh paint. If Nehekhara is anything like Egypt they had ludicrously vibrant paint that would even make Slaanesh think he's tripping balls. Settra knows you can't just demand everything for free and have a functioning society, and mindless skeletons have no eye for hue and pigment. No pun intended.

True Beastman warlord in the Southpole that Archain recruited when he was there looking for Be'lakor's statue fortress. He started out as bestial looking abomination but as the journey went on and he gained favour from the gods, Ograx and his Beastmen transformed from bestially monsters to handsome men with some bestial features. This is due to not having any man blood in them.

When Archaon climbed the sleeping gigantic Dragon Ogre father/king to retrieve the Slayer of King, he had Ograx pry open the Dragon Ogres hand to get the sword. When Archaon grabbed the sword, the daemon within started screaming. Archaon panicked because the screaming was rousing the Dragon Ogre from his sleep. In a fateful moment Archaon accidentally spied the mark of Be'lakor on Ograx when the beastman's muscles burst from his plates from the effort. Enraged and desperate, Archaon sheathed the Slayer King down into Ograx's mouth and down his throat. Satisfied with blood after so long, the daemon went silent.

I think it's largely because the main game is about fantasy armies clashing, so bringing it to a smaller scale about one to five people isn't what they're interested in most of the time. BUT I think it's just a matter of time, seeing as how there's going to be a hack-and-slash Warhammer game. They just need a good development team to do it.

Nobody knows for sure, but I'd guess human since the elves were locked in an impossible war for survival, the dwarfs sealed themselves in their mountains while men either fell to the Dark Gods or huddled in their caves praying for salvation. I don't know a whole lot about the Fimir but the Dragon Ogres sold their service in exchange for immortality and refuse to fight for a daemonic master.
>>
>>54702314
There is an echo of mortal Be'lakor on the Alter of Ultimate Darkness. The place where the fist damned gave his soul to Chaos to become the Firstborn of Chaos. An act of supreme evil that attracted Chaos to this world.

The outline of the echo looked human and the fact that Be'lakor's damnation and rebirth opened the hearts of men for Chaos and tainted them with his evil suggest that he might have been human. Men who look deep into the darkness that resides in their heart see Be'lakor staring back at them. His name is known by carved upon their very souls.
>>
>>54702314
Human. Apparently the northmen migrated from Nehekhara to the north while the Old Ones were active and they didn't stop one of their failed experiments from standing in and whispering to their enemies on the other side.

Accirding to your logic, Be'lakor is immune to anything that was created after him.

Dwarf Runes were invented by the Old Ones before humans were created. Unless Bel is an Elf, it predates him.

It is literally canon Valaya's Rune negates the supernatural. It quiets the Winds of Magic for miles around it, and because its written at all the entrances of Karaz-a-Karak no Daemon or supernatural being could enter it.

So unless you can cite some shit proving Dwarf Runes do nothing against him and not his pussy Ward Save against Gotrek, then you're full of shit and the rock that squashed him probably had "Valaya Wuz Here" and "G/G+V 4Ever" written on it.

>Lileath’s eyes were closed, her lips moving silently as she wove a spell of banishment. Spirals of glowing white energy plucked at Be’lakor’s charging form, and wisps of his shadow diffused into nothing. But the First-damned was older than any exorcism, and could not be so easily cast into the Realm of Chaos by the young magics of the elves. He came on, his pace scarcely slowed.

Now ask yourselves. Are the dwarfen rune crafting older than Elves magics? Are they counted as a spell of banishment? From the text it seemed to imply Be'lakor is older than all elf magics if they referred to as young. I mean seriously other than the Slaan (and the surviving native life of the world) there are no other race older than the Elves. Yet to Be'lakor their spellwork is young.

Snarling, Be’lakor brought his blade down, smashing the staff from Lileath’s hands and knocking her to the ground. ‘You think to banish me?’ Be’lakor roared. He smacked a fist into his chest. ‘I am the First Damned, and older than any exorcism or rite of banishment. If we're getting technical then the Saurus, Skinks and Kroxigar are older than the elves. They slaughtered many indigenous species, taught the young races and built the temple cities.

Also, Be'lakor wank completely defeats the purpose of his original tale. That no matter how high you climb on the Chaos ladder you're still a slave. Even if you're the greatest warrior, sorcerer, general, if you get the Gods angry they'll curse you just to teach you a lesson. For all we know Be'lakor could have brought victory thousands of years ago but his arrogance was his undoing. A slave can't stand up too tall, even if he is a prince.

That's not what I'm asking myself actually.

Josh Reynolds butchered Be'lakor in that novel. Good writer when his heart is in it but he made plenty of lore and character mistakes in this ET novel. Portraying Be'lakor as a brute was his worst mistake.

Robutts are not a race. It doesn't matter if they are made of flesh or metal. IMO.

>lso, Be'lakor wank completely defeats the purpose of his original tale.

No, he still fails spectacularly.

Having an alien mind doesn't make you a robot. Skinks are intelligent and social, often debating the meaning of a Slann's tummy rumbling or eye's flickering open for a moment or two. There's a reason why they become tribal chiefs without the guidance of the Slann or any direction to follow the Plan.

If Be'lakor isn't walking into a rake every five seconds, he's being written wrong. Chaos is self defeating, no more so than chaining up one of its greatest champions because he tried having a backbone.

Demigryphs are fucking awful.
>>
>>54703852
In what regard?
>>

1. They look derpy as fuck
>inb4 that's just your opinion! (No shit, idiot)

2. They fuck with the Imperial aesthetic of "human ingenuity overcoming magical mayhem." Yes, the Empire has some magic and monsters -- battle wizards and the emperor rides a gryphon. But mostly, the Empire was men, with steampunk technology, armor, and guts, fighting against the insane, gibbering beasts of Chaos and the monstrous Orcs. With Knights. Horse-riding knights.

3. I tolerated the Demigryph as the extremely rare mutant that was hard to find -- as it was in Throne of Chaos where only the Imperial General rides one. Demigryph Knights seemed indulgent.

To me it came off as 'Me too!' as other armies had super heavy cavalry, which started with Chaos Chosen Knights and Grail Knights. Instead of replacing the old Knightly Order kit they made an even heavier cavalry.

>the empire, the realm that breeds griffons and has ogres, giants, elves, dwarves, and midgets living within its borders and also a Hogwarts don't fit with tamed big mounts that are expensive and you're not bringing that many anyways
I'll be honest I find them adorable. If anything they should have a breeding program, but gw don't like that and makes them kill people if they try.

I wanna see a short comic about a young Deathclaw terrorizing the Altdorf palace staff as it tries to 'play' with them.

His Bretonnian novels were so bad they made me angry. Except the Reolus fight. That was pretty boss.
