The best crabs are giant rat tier, but easily tamed so that you can level it into a powerful monster. Or you could make them dq slime tier and have hundreds of crabs. Maybe crabs are the only monsters you need. Rather than rats you have scavenging crabs in the walls. Instead of orcs you have people mutated by crab exposure into crabmen. Instead of dragons you have giant grabs with underground treasure hordes. Make it so that when players hear the word "crab" they automatically think "Oh, so it's a monster"
