My fighter's head was lopped off in my 5e session tonight by a vorpal blade.
What should I make next?
A fighter with the protection style

A dullahan.
A headless horseman style fighter with a flaming skull.
A skeleton rogue who is bad at stealth because of all the rattling.

That would be too spooky, though. Too spooky.

I like that one.
Dwarf rogue would be neat also.

came here to post this. if your gm's plot's hook strong enough (it probably isn't. but make him think he did a good job to butter him up) try to convince him that you're so invested in his story that your character wouldn't let death stop him.
then play a kickass dullahan

Nah my character was pretty much taken by his universes god of combat and given a sweet ass afterlife. So his story is over. I get to whip slaves in the slave pit for eternity and fight people.

Mustachioed British Games-man using the Artificer, Gunsmith archetype.

For real, do this. Talk to the DM. You got rando crit to death, he should do you this solid.

Other answer is a Necromancer who wants to reanimate your old fighter.

How about an ashtray? It's pretty easy -- just slice off the top, scoop out the gray matter and eyeballs and such, and wash it well. It can be gilt with silver and you can make a nice ebony base for it with the recipient's name engraved on the side.
