What are the best Warhammer 40k books I should read? I've been browsing /tg/ for awhile and I'm keen to read more.

Anything by Dan Abbnett.

Eisenhorn is a good series.
>>
>>54583084
>A Thousand Sons
>Know No Fear
>Scars + The Path of Heaven
>Betrayer
are all God-Emperor tier.
>>
>>54583084
First 4 books in HH series are a good start.
>>

This.
Eisenhorn and Gaunt's Ghosts are really fucking good. Of the two I'd probably read Eisenhorn first, as that's a trilogy as opposed to however many books Gaunt's Ghosts is now.
I remember not liking Ravenor as much though.

Seconding Eisenhorn.

I remember enjoying the Ultramarine series but I was like 13 or 14 when I was reading them.
>>
Ciaphas Cain's books

this.

this.

also fantastic are:
>HH Legion
>Dante (fukking awesome)
>dark imperium
>>
Nightlords omnibus is pretty good

Space Marine by Ian Watson

Some people think this book is "weird", but no other book was written about the 40k universe so accurately humanizes Space Marines, while at the same time alienating us via their disturbing perspectives. It will be guaranteed to make you look at them in a new light.

I also would agree with this

The Night Lords trilogy

First three books in the Horus Heresy, followed by Fulgrim, Legion, A Thousand Sons, The First Heretic, Prospero Burns, Know No Fear, and Betrayer (These are selected from the books in the Horus Heresy that I've read and actually enjoyed)

and the best of all, the entirety of Gaunt's Ghosts. It was my introduction into the madness of 40k from the ground level up, and there's no better way to grasp the enormity of the setting than from the POV of a ragtag group of Guardsmen and their Commissar, written in the style of Bernard Cornwell's 'Sharpe' books.

Just read the macharian crusade trilogy. They were enjoyable!
>>
>>54583084
Xenology's a short, fluffy read that gives a lot of insight into a lot of factions, even a few that have never had an army. That gets my vote.
>>
I've only read Fifteen Hours, the first Gaunt's Ghosts and Master of Mankind. Liked the first and the last.

while we are at it.

i noticed i grew completely out of the bolter porn sequences. all battles are always the same.
>protagonist in hopeless situatiuon
>protagonist overcomes it somehow

i noticed i enjoyed the novels the most that are rather character, atmosphere and organisation driven.

dante was literally a full blown orgasm for a blood angel fan of 20 years.

Fear the Xeno is an amazing book, the ork story is genuinely enjoyable, and it offers one of the best insights into how Dark Eldar operate on an emotional level
>>54583084
I would recommend anything by Henry Zhou. The Gorgons are an amazing warband that he created, with a really cool aesthetic, and he writes Imperial Guard falling to Chaos brilliantly.
>>
Storm of Iron was good.
Cage of Iron if you can find it.
>>
>>54583084
Master of Mankind. In the grimdark there is no compromise.
>>
>>54583692
This is an utter lie. I bought the Eisenhorn compilation and barely made it through the second book before I gave up. It is trash.
>>
>>54583084
>Ravenor
Betrayer is nice if you like world eaters.
>>
>>54583084
Eisenhorn series
Faith and Fire series
Baneblade series

they is some good shit

Well you sir, have no taste
>>
>>54583084
Titanicus
Imperial Glory
Ciaphas Cain series
>>
>>54585176
Seriously
>>
>>54586022
It is fucking weird.
>>
>>54593176
Forges of Mars series if you like the Mechanicus
>>
>>54593176
Ciaphas cain gets a bit repetitive if you read it all at once

>im a coward
>a lucky coward
>wheres my command chimera?
>jurgen is foul

Not saying i dont like the series, its a nice bit a humour injected into an otherwise grim setting, maybe read them between other books for a bit of levity and to avoid getting bored with the formula
>>
>>54596254
seconded, really good books but if you binge them you'll just get bored.
